This study is based on the results of a case study in which over 30 students enrolled in a top-ranked online and formal MBA program. Thus, the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) has been used for choosing the program. Due to the inability of AHP to deal with the impression and subjectiveness in the pair-wise comparison process, the FAHP has been used. The result of the research is interesting since neither an online nor a formal education program is preferred; a hybrid one has been developed. Üretim yapan firmaların etkinlik analizleri kendini kanıtlamış “anahtar performans indikatörleri” sayesinde servis sunan firmalara göre daha kolay gerçekleştirebilir durumdadır. Hizmet üreten firmaların etkinlik analizlerinde Veri Zarflama Analizi (VZA) kullanılabilir. Veri Zarflama ve Analitik Hiyerarşi Süreci (AHS) sıralı hibrit algoritması performans değerlendirmede etkinlik sağlanması açısından oldukça önemlidir. Çalışmada, iki aşamalı bir teknikle sırasıyla önce VZA modeli kurularak modelin çözümü LINDO programında yapılmış ikinci aşamada ise bulunan sonuçlar üzerinde AHS tekniği ile tam hiyerarşi yapılmıştır. Ankara’da çalışma kapsamında 4 yıldızlı oteller ele alınarak, VZA-AHS sıralı hibrit algoritması uygulanmasıyla etkinlik ölçümünü en iyi yansıtabilecek değişkenler seçilmiş ve otellerle ilgili en uygun girdi- çıktılar derlenmiştir. Farklı sektörlerde TZ performansını değerlendirmek için çeşitli metrikler ve karar verme metodolojileri önerilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, TZ performans değerlendirme süreçleri için bütünleşik iki aşamalı kümeleme ve aralık tip-2 bulanık TOPSIS yöntemi önerilmektedir. Önerilen bu yaklaşımın ilk adımında, iki aşamalı kümeleme analizi ile sektörlerin homojen olarak bölümlendirilmesi ve aynı zamanda problemin boyutunun azaltılması sağlanmaktadır. İkinci adımda, bulanık TOPSIS ile oluşturulan kümeler değerlendirilmektedir. Yaklaşımın sonuçları, örgütsel etkinlik ve şirket performansı gibi konularda makro bakış açısı sağlamaktadır. Many companies and public administration try to identify and modify their Lifelong Learning strategies for their sustainability. The purpose of this Lifelong Learning case study is underlying the importance of the phenomena in the Turkish public sector. Business process management was used as a tool for designing and improving the operations in the center and rural area offices of Social Security Institution. The case study was held by an expert of the institution in terms of Lifelong Learning. The improved and managed business processes was clarified in the study in detail. The study states that if there were not Lifelong Learning phenomena in action there would not be any improvement and evaluation of this improvement in the system. (C) 2013 The Authors. The main purpose of this study is to fill a substantial knowledge gap regarding reaching a uniform group decision in Industrial engineering curriculum design and planning. A comprehensive quality based course criterion model extracted from existing literature and expert opinions was developed. Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDA) was used to identify the relative importance of course criteria for the purpose of tailoring an optimal four Industrial engineering curriculum for Bachelor's Degree students in Turkey.. The hierarchical model and analysis utilized in the present study will be useful for resolving several important multi-criteria decision-making issues in planning and evaluating Industrial Engineering programs. Azaltılabilecek en önemli maliyet kalemlerinden bir tanesi de stok maliyetleridir. Bu çalışmada, bir satıcı ile birden çok alıcı arasındaki malzeme tedarik zinciri ilişkileri incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, alıcılar ile satıcının ortak bir yaklaşım benimseyerek, her alıcının siparişlerini satıcının belirlediği belirli zaman aralıklarında vermesi ve böylece satıcı ile alıcılardan oluşan sistemin ortak stok maliyetlerinin en aza indirilmesidir. Ancak bu durumda alıcıların maliyetlerinde belli bir miktar artış meydana gelmektedir. Bunu dengeleyebilmek için, satıcının alıcılara iskonto yapması gerekmektedir. Bu araştırmada, doğrusal olmayan bir model ile en küçük stok ve sistem maliyetleri elde edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırmada kullanılan model, Ankara'da bir lastik bölge bayisinden ve onun alt bayilerinden alınan gerçek veriler üzerinde uygulanmıştır. Çalışmada kullanılan modelin uygulanması durumunda, lastik bölge bayiliğinin, alt bayilerinin ihtiyaçlarına daha hızlı cevap vermesi sağlanabilir. Ayrıca sistemin genel maliyetlerinde de önemli bir azalma oluşacaktır.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 4Exploiting Visual Features in Financial Time Series Prediction(Igi Global, 2020) Karacor, Adil Gursel; Erkan, Turan ErmanThe possibility to enhance prediction accuracy for foreign exchange rates was investigated in two ways: first applying an outside the box approach to modeling price graphs by exploiting their visual properties, and secondly employing the most efficient methods to detect patterns to classify the direction of movement. The approach that exploits the visual properties of price graphs which make use of density regions along with high and low values describing the shape; hence, the authors propose the name 'Finance Vision.' The data used in the predictive model consists of 1-hour past price values of 4 different currency pairs, between 2003 and 2016. Prediction performances of state-of-the-art methods; Extreme Gradient Boosting, Artificial Neural Network and Support Vector Machines are compared over the same data with the same sets of features. Results show that density based visual features contribute considerably to prediction performance.Article Citation - WoS: 22Citation - Scopus: 28Combining AHP and ROC with GIS for Airport Site Selection: A Case Study in Libya(Mdpi, 2020) Erkan, Turan Erman; Elsharida, Wael MohamedChoosing airport locations requires thorough and comprehensive decisions to be made. To do so in a professional and logical manner is crucial for the social, economic, and logistic settings intended for any region. The present research takes place in Libya, where airports are just as vital for the economy in terms of tourism and investment by allowing for improved transportation throughout the developing market and supplier locations as well as trading between the industrial and financial sectors. For this reason, using the geographic information system (GIS) to determine the appropriate airport site, twenty-three criteria were considered. In addition, two different methods-analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and rank order centroid (ROC)-were utilized to derive the related weights. The comparison of the output maps from these two distinctive approaches shows that both approaches provide identical results. Finally, a sensitivity analysis was carried out to evaluate the reliability of the method used and select the best site among the proposed ones based on the result of the highest suitability index for each candidate site. This research provides a siting approach and substantial support for decision-makers in the issue of airport locations selection in Libya and other developing countries.
