Article Citation - Scopus: 5Comparative Analysis of Three Innovative Housing Models in Copenhagen for Social Mix(Istanbul Teknik Universitesi, Faculty of Architecture, 2020) Bıcan,N.B.Copenhagen has been attracting residents both from abroad and other regions of Denmark, embracing a comprehensive development plan following an economic boom since the 1990s. Local decision-makers have been striving to transform the housing stock of the city in line with the evolving demographics of the city and consequent new demands of the urban society. At the same time, people are seeking cheaper and flexible alternatives of living; thus, social housing (almen bolig) emerges as an affordable option with reasonable qualities for Copenhagen residents. This study uses a comparative analysis to evaluate spatial approaches of three innovative social housing models developed by partnerships of some non-profit housing associations with Copenhagen municipality in 2015. Each model has a distinct motto; Generationernes Byhus (GBYH) builds up neighbourhood across generations; Boliger for Alle (BOFA) provides opportunity of transition across ownership types; and Almene Storbyboliger (ASBB) creates flexible/plastic system addressing demographical structure under change. Methodologically, the research is based on interviews with key stakeholders and in-depth analysis of visual and written documents. It provides a comparative analysis of the models, concentrating particularly on dwelling design approaches which address social mix and diversity. The paper concludes that although the social housing market is strictly controlled for socio-economic reasons, it still has the potential to support the evolution of the urban demography of Danish society thanks to embracement of innovative perspectives both by governmental authorities and forerunning housing associations. © 2020, Istanbul Teknik Universitesi, Faculty of Architecture. S.; Olgen, S.The aim of this study is to design and synthesize novel dual inhibitors of Src protein tyrosine kinase (PTK) and Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs), as a potential drug lead with therapeutic efficacy on cancer and immune disorders. The biological activity profiling of small molecule inhibitors via miniaturized biochemical techniques compatible with medium throughput screening and focused screening methodologies were performed. To determining the effects of small molecule inhibitors on Src kinase and Phase II detoxification enzyme GST isozymes in liver homogenates used to verify their roles in drug resistance mechanism for cancer chemotherapeutics. In this study, 14 indole-3-imine-2-on and N-benzyl indole-3-imine-2-on derivatives were synthesized for dual activities against Src and GST. The chemical structures and purities of compounds were verified by IR, H-1 NMR, MASS spectroscopy, and elemental analysis. The condition for solvability is presented and an estimate for the unique solution is provided.Article Technology-Based Innovations in the Teaching of Translation: an Insight Into Whys and Hows(Ovidius University, 2019) Aksoy,N.B.Technological developments in all the activities of social, economic and communicative areas of modern life brought forth a higher demand in translation services, which in turn, necessitates a review of translation teaching at the university level. Traditional teaching methods which heavily rely on teacher-oriented approaches where students are passive learners who focus on the study of linguistic exercises and manual translation tasks by themselves, are no longer sufficient to produce graduates who can compete in the booming computerised worklife in the translation profession. Hence, the integration of Machine Translation (MT) and Computer-Assisted Tools (CAT) becomes a priority in the translation teaching curriculum in order to enable students to deal with the challenging market conditions upon graduation. Students who have experience in the use of computer technologies by means of getting acquainted with them during their education will develop the necessary skills to produce terminologically-consistent, time-efficient and correct translations as required by translation companies and working environment. Also, with the help of use of computer technologies in their teamwork and project-based practices during their education and in their internship, students will develop interpersonal skills and network for better replacements upon graduation. © 2019 Ovidius University. Light provides individuals to understand, get information for visual tasks and it affects how they experience and behave in the environment. Desired illuminance levels are required for visual comfort and task efficiency. This study analyzes the effects of different illuminance levels of light emitting diode (LED) and organic light emitting diodie (OLED) lights on user visual comfort and reading performance. An experiment was con-ducted with eighty interior architecture students at Çankaya University. Six lighting scenarios were created with LED and OLED lighting sources that assessed six visual comfort criteria. The experimental setting consisted of three different illuminance levels, as 200, 500 and 800 lx. The results revealed that different illuminance levels were found more comfortable for different visual comfort criteria, but the illuminance level of 500 lx was visually more comfortable than the other illuminance levels. The illuminance level of LED 200 lx was visually more comfortable than LED 800 lx. OLED light was found visually more comfortable than LED light. In addition, participants read slower under the illuminance level of LED 200 lx. It was concluded that illuminance levels of light effect user’s visual comfort and reading performance. This study provides a basis to recommend the preferred illuminance level for LED and OLED light during a reading performance. © 2021, Istanbul Teknik Universitesi, Faculty of Architecture. The equations governing the two-dimensional, steady, laminar mixed convection flow of an incompressible fluid are solved for various values of parameters as Darcy (Da), Grashof (Gr), and Prandtl (Pr) numbers. The results are given in terms of vorticity contours, streamlines and isotherms. Further, average Nusselt number variations with respect to the problem parameters are also presented. The fluid flows slowly as Da decreases since the permeability of the medium decreases, and the increase in Grashof number causes the flow to pass to the natural convective behavior. DRBEM has the advantage of using considerably small number of grid points due to the boundary only nature of the method. Different forms of gaits can be found by genetic optimization using patterns formed by central pattern generators.Conference Object Effect of Synthesis Methods, Doping Methods, Metals and Metal Contents on the Dosimetric Properties of Lithium Tetraborate(RAD Association, 2012) Yilmaz,A.; Ozbayoǧlu,G.Thermoluminescent dosimeter (TLD) needs to have some features such as; a simple glow curve structure, a high gamma ray sensitivity, low fading of TL signal, linear dose-response relationship, simple annealing procedure for reuse, chemical stability and inertness to extreme climatic variations, insensitive to daylight, suitable effective atomic number (Zeff), close to that of soft tissue which is 7.42. The effective atomic number of lithium tetraborate is (7.42), which is almost the same as that of the biological tissue. Due to that reason, in this research, Lithium tetraborate: Li2B4O7, has been synthesized by different methods, such as, high temperature solid state synthesis and solution assisted synthesis methods. After preparing the host material, Cu and Mn were doped with different concentrations. TL glow curves of Mn and Cu doped LTB samples produced by using different synthesis and doping methods and Ag, P and Mg co-doped samples were investigated for comparison. All samples prepared displayed TL response and the best TL signal was obtained from the sample produced by solid state synthesis and doped by solution assisted method with 0.1% Cu and 0.004% Ag. High temperature solid-state synthesis of LTB and high temperature solid-state doping of Mn gave better glow curves with 1 wt% Mn content than other products with different synthesis and doping methods and than other percentages of Mn in LTB with two separable glow peak at 77 °C and 280 °C with high intensity. The addition of Ag as co-dopant shifted the main glow peak to 200 °C. P increased the intensity of glow peak at 280 °C. Mg increased the glow curve complexity. © 2012 RAD Conference Proceedings. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to clarify the differences in stress distribution of dental implants with various thread designs and diameters based on the all-on-four concept with three dimensional (3D) finite element analysis (FEA). METHODS: A 3D model of a totally edentulous mandible was used to perform the FEA. Four different models (M1, M2, M3, and M4) including 3.5 and 4.3 mm diameter dental implants with active and passive threaded designs were generated. The dental implants were positioned according to the all-on-four concept. The Von Mises stresses on dental implants and maximum and minimum principal stresses (Pmax and Pmin) on bony structures were calculated under vertical, oblique and horizontal loads. RESULTS: For Von Mises stresses, the highest stress values were detected on the distal implants for all models. Distal implants had also the highest stress values for vertical loading. The Von Mises stresses were found to be concentrated around the implant's neck. In all models the highest Pmax and Pmin stresses occurred in the bone surrounding the distal implant. It was noted that the active threaded implants showed the highest Pmax and Pmin stress values. CONCLUSION: The implant thread design and diameter might have a strong influence on the stress values in the all-on-four concept. © 2022 - IOS Press. All rights reserved.
