The random deterioration in resistance of a component is defined through a stochastic process. We obtain lifetime distribution of a parallel system via classical probabilistic techniques. The lifetime distribution of a consecutive-k-out-of-n:F system is derived using the lifetime distribution of parallel systems and the concept of maximal signature. We also study the optimal replacement time for a parallel system. We present illustrative computational results using MATHCAD. (C) 2013 Elsevier Inc. The uniqueness and existence results for solution of the inverse problem are established and an explicit procedure of reconstruction of the matrix from the two spectra is given. Three micro-evaporators of the same dimensions and different surface roughness have been fabricated by micro-WEDM. Each micro-evaporator consists of forty rectangular microchannels of 700 mu m height, 250 mu m width, and 19 mm length. A microscale vapor compression refrigeration cycle has been constructed to carry out the experiments. R134a is used as the refrigerant. Heat transfer coefficient, pressure drop and COP results are presented at variously imposed heat fluxes, and at mass fluxes of 85 and 200 kg/(m(2)s). The results demonstrate up to 45% enhancement in the two-phase heat transfer coefficient at low to moderate heat flux values as the surface roughness increases. Considering the surface roughness effect of the microchannel walls, a new correlation is developed to predict the heat transfer coefficient of R134a boiling in microchannels. (C) 2016 Elsevier Inc. Despite the intensive research conducted in the area lately, the problem of describing the class of functions in C[0, 1] uniformly approximated by their q-Bernstein polynomials (q > 1) is still open. In this paper, the q-Bernstein polynomials B-n,B-q(f(a); z) of the Cauchy kernel f(a) = 1/(z - a), a is an element of C \ [0, 1] are found explicitly and their properties are investigated. In particular, it is proved that if q > 1, then polynomials B-n,B-q(f(a); z) converge to f(a) uniformly on any compact set K subset of {z : vertical bar z vertical bar < vertical bar a vertical bar}. One thousand twenty-four adult patients diagnosed with crush syndrome were analyzed. and outcomes were collected. A total of 9.8% of patients died during their hospital stay. Nonsurvivors were generally older, more likely to have preexisting chronic kidney disease, and faced more severe injuries and complications, including hypotension-shock, arrhythmias, elevated markers of renal dysfunction, and higher rates of acute kidney injury (AKI) and compartment syndrome. In addition, intensive care unit needs were higher. Multivariate analysis confirmed that age, injury severity, shock, high potassium, uric acid, and lactate levels on admission, development of AKI, compartment syndrome, and intensive care unit admission were significant predictors of mortality. Better disaster preparedness and improved health care infrastructure could be potential explanations for improved in-hospital mortality in the current era, as compared to previous earthquakes.Article Citation - WoS: 15Citation - Scopus: 17Improved Global Robust Stability of Interval Delayed Neural Networks Via Split Interval: Generalizations(Elsevier Science inc, 2008) Singh, VimaldThe problem of global robust stability of Hop field-type delayed neural networks with the intervalized network parameters is revisited. Recently, a computationally tractable, i.e., linear matrix inequality (LMI) based global robust stability criterion derived from an earlier criterion based on dividing the given interval into more that two intervals has been presented. In the present paper, generalizations, i.e., division of the given interval into m intervals (where m is an integer greater than or equal to 2) is considered and some new LMI-based global robust stability criteria are derived. It is shown that, in some cases, m = 2 may not suffice, i.e., m > 2 may be needed to realize the improvement. An example showing the effectiveness of the proposed generalization is given. Evidence from a broad panel of advanced and emerging countries shows that an increase in credit growth is associated with a significant deterioration in the current account balance. When we examine the roles of the components of credit, we find that an increase in household credit causes a significant decline in the current account balance, whereas an increase in business loans has no significant effect. Therefore, our findings indicate that the significant negative impact of credit growth on the current account balance is driven by household credit. Furthermore, we show that total and household credit growth rates have a stronger negative effect on the current account balance for lower levels of financial depth. Our results suggest that targeted policy measures that curb household credit growth might be more effective to reduce external imbalances particularly at the early stages of financial deepening.
