Separating the Biased Perceptions From Lack of Knowledge on Entrepreneurship Through a Diagnostic Instrument: Ledi
    (2018) Kalaycı, Elif; Çiğdemoğlu, Ceyhan
Students of entrepreneurship either have ‘biased perceptions’ and/or they lackknowledge. The literature states that biased perceptions can have lasting effect evenafter the training (von Graevenitz, et.al, 2010). Lack of knowledge hinders the decisionmaking of nascent entrepreneurs when they rely on personal opinions or pastexperiences as heuristics derived from small samples or non-random samples. Currentlyentrepreneurship education is not designed to address the impact of biased perceptionsand lack of knowledge. There is a need to separate biased perceptions from ‘lack ofknowledge’ so that entrepreneurship training could be implemented on a more tailoredmanner. It is the goal of this paper to devise such an instrument in the lean start upcontext which is a widely used model of entrepreneurship training. The proposedinstrument is tested on a convenience-based sample composed of 212 people.Employment of a three-tiered instrument in this context is a first of its kind. Knowledgeor lack of knowledge is checked in the first tier, relevant reasoning is assessed in thesecond and certainty is evaluated in the third tier.

A New Model for Customer Equity
    (2017) Özgen, Pelin
In this study, the fundamental model of customer equity is studied and an alternative model is tested where attitudinal and behavioral customer loyalty are treated as two additional individual components of customer equity. In gathering required data, survey method is used with 377 respondents based on judgement sampling. In order to test the proposed model, a different calculation for customer equity is applied. In model testing, LISREL package program is used and structural equation modelling (SEM) is applied. Results indicate that the proposed model stating that customer equity, has two more components, namely attitudinal loyalty and behavioral loyalty, is significant at 95% confidence level, has a high goodness of fit (GFI = .93) and has an acceptable level of root mean square error (RMSEA= .07). However, results also show a correlation between value equity and brand equity terms, which can be tested with different products or sample in future studies

A Critical Analysis of the Established Explanations About the Nature of Ecotourism
    (2012) Erdoğan, Nazmiye; Erdoğan, İrfan
This qualitative study questions the prevailing explanations about the nature of ecotourism. The major aims of the study are (a) to point out that the widespread notions and theoretical attributions about the character of ecotourism should be reconsidered and (b) to express the need for critical questioning and design in qualitative and quantitative academic studies in social, management, administrative and tourism sciences. The article explains, first, the basic rationale for legitimizing, market building, supporting, sustaining and expanding the capitalist market, including ecotourism practices, and connects the concept of environment with economy, and inclusion of tourism and ecotourism in sustainable development. Then, it discusses the nature of dominant explanations of ecotourism. The study concludes that widespread explanations of the nature, structure, activity and outcome of ecotourism rarely match the nature of daily ecotourism practices. Instead, they generally create, employ and sustain functional myths about industrial practices, relations, causes, effects and outcomes of ecotourism. They provide strategically prescriptive and normative ethics and principles that are mostly unattainable. They consciously or inadvertently ignore the fact that the notion of ecotourism is deeply embedded in the logics of ideological normalisation of corporate activities, commodity circulation, technological end-product distribution and use, and global governance of the economic, political and cultural market conditions

The Bank Lending Channel of Monetary Transmission in Turkey
    (2019) Turguttopbaş, Neslihan
In this paper, it is aimed to fill a gap in the literature by providing empiricalevidence on the influence of monetary policy of Central Bank of Turkey on bank lendingin Turkish financial system. In the analysis, the bank level data consisting of 20 banksand monthly market interest rates are used for the period 2001-2017. The findings ofthe study address three different perspectives of transmission of monetary policy rates.Firstly, the effect of the policy rate on bank lending rates is evaluated and it is confirmedthat a change in the policy rate has been reflected in banks’ lending rate with 3 monthslag. The second group of findings report that the monetary policy affects banks' lendingrate in Turkey mainly through its effects on the deposit rates with a lag of 2 months. Thethird perspective focuses on the balance sheet channel of monetary policy transmission. The results indicate that mainly the policy rate of central bank and liquidity level affectthe supply of bank loans. Each of the variables of the adequacy of bank capital and ROAaffects the bank’s supply of the loans. Amongst the economic variables, the GDP growthhas a positive and significant and stock exchange index has negative and significantrelation with the supply of bank loans.
