Osteomyelitis and septic arthritis are inflammatory musculoskeletal diseases and their recovery should contain bone or joint regeneration approaches. Nanometer-sized hydroxyapatite is the main inorganic component of the bone tissue that resembles its extracellular matrix. Nanometer-sized hydroxyapatite composite is also an efficient carrier for various regenerative molecules and medicine. Trace elements on the other hand enhance bone formation, mineralization and have antibacterial properties. Bioactivity, biocompatibility, and antibacterial properties of nanometer-sized hydroxyapatite can be gained and improved with trace elements such as zinc, boron, magnesium, strontium, and molybdenum. This chapter summarizes studies on the effects of zinc, boron, magnesium, strontium, and/or molybdenum-doped nanometer-sized hydroxyapatite that can be used to treat musculoskeletal infections. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.Book Part Citation - Scopus: 1Community Development, Frustration and Overtourism(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd., 2021) Koç,B.; Küçükergin,K.G.Tourism and community development are two complementary variables. There are many studies in the literature examining the effects of tourism on society. However, the number of studies focussing on the subject from the perspective of overtourism is still very limited. Although a shrinking in tourism demand is estimated for the next few years due to Covid-19, it is expected that the sector will face an even more intense tourist boom around the world after this health crisis. Therefore, the phenomenon of overtourism remains important. In this context, a conceptual examination was made in the current chapter regarding the observed and possible effects of tourism density on communities. The present study was designed as a case study. Two Turkish EFL teachers participated in the study. The data were collected through a semi-structured interview and analyzed through content analysis. The findings of the present study have indicated that, according to the participants, there were two causes of digital divide in English language classrooms, digital divide could affect both EFL students and teachers generally negatively, and it could be handled with individual and social solutions. This chapter provides a detailed overview of the current literature on online social networking with respect to its beneficial and detrimental effects on psychological wellbeing. In particular, it provides empirical evidence for the associations of SNS use with depression, self-esteem, loneliness, subjective wellbeing, social anxiety, attachment, personality traits, and addiction. Furthermore, it identifies the characteristics of individuals who are more prone to social networking, and presents possible mediators and moderators playing a role in the relationship between social networking and mental health. Despite the positive impact and increasing global usage of new media applications, some countries have low new media applications penetration when others have high. This should be analyzed and evaluated within the countries' own macroeconomic and institutional dynamics. Dynamic motives as institutional, macroeconomic, infrastructural, and political factors heavily divined and also easily damage the current and future conditions of the countries. This work conceptually and concretely investigated the role of specific factors. Macroeconomic factors are determined as population, GDP growth rate, and population rate of the countries. Institutional factors are evaluated through political stability index, rule of law index, and civil liberties index of each sample country. It offers practical and functional solutions to some complex daily and scientific problems through the application of multilayered asymmetric thinking. The process begins with the careful identification of the most dominant factors influencing the success of the solutions to the problems, ultimately leading to the creation of a main key to successand sub keys to success attached to it. The key tosuccess serves as a guide for its creator as it highlights which factors should be controlled and which should be prioritised over the others. As a result, Asymmetric Theory introduces a structured strategy-oriented approach to problem-solving. This chapter begins by highlighting the importance of Intensive English Programmes (IEPs) for English-medium universities. Then, it introduces the core principles of Asymmetric Theory. Building on these principles, a main key to success is created for the programme development challenge of IEPs followed by the creation of sub keys for optimising their instructional, assessment, and administrative designs. These steps are demonstrated using a think-aloud protocol. Survival without water is impossible and industries cannot operate without water as well. Availability of safe and reliable source of water is therefore essential. Different practical solutions are needed for sustainable preservation of water resources as freshwater resources are limited in terms of technical and economical aspects. Membrane technologies can be applied to water and wastewater treatment for removal of various unwanted substances from water. Recently, the utilization of membrane technologies in the water purification sector has grown exponentially. Compared to conventional reclamation methods, membrane technologies are much more efficient for removal of various contaminants and they are able to overcome more stringent water regulations. Membrane separation processes employed for water treatment include reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration, microfiltration, and electrodialysis (ED). In this chapter, we reviewed the basic principles of electromembrane processes, such as ED, electrodeionization, electrodialysis reversal, and bipolar membrane ED based on ion exchange membranes (IEMs) along with few examples of the use of these processes in water and wastewater treatment.
