The photodiode is fabricated by employing the metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) method. A thorough electrical characterization is performed at room temperature, encompassing measurements of current-voltage (I-V), current-time (I-t), capacitance-time (C-t), and conductance time (G-t). The photodiode's rectification factor and reverse bias area increased under illumination. The relationship between light power density, barrier height, and diode ideality factor is found. The study also found a strong correlation between light intensity and applied voltage on series resistance (R-s) and shunt resistance (R-sh). R-s values are calculated using Cheung's functions, revealing the diode's resistance behavior. The study also examines the photodiode's photoconductivity and photoconductance, finding a non-linear relationship between photocurrent and illumination intensity, suggesting bimolecular recombination. Calculated photosensitivity (K), responsivity (R), and detectivity (D*) values show the device's light response effectiveness, but efficiency decreases at higher illumination intensities. Transient experiments indicate stable and reproducible photocurrent characteristics, revealing photogenerated charge temporal evolution. This study provides a complete understanding of the Al/Si3N4/p-Si Schottky photodiode's behavior under different illumination intensities. The present paper investigates students' attitudes to different types of PRSs, namely, Socrative and Clickers. Both qualitative and quantitative data are gathered and classified. The performed thematic analysis reveals major categories within the framework of this study, namely educational efficacy, psychological aspects, technology-related issues, and administrative issues. It has been found that Socrative fares better in the "educational efficacy" and "administrative issues," whereas Clickers outperforms Socrative in the "technological-related issues." It is worth pointing out that both Socrative and Clickers are tantamount in "psychological aspects" yielding no negative experiences. The results of this study reveal that two main factors, cost and technological infrastructure, are determinative in the incorporation and appreciation of such systems in an educational setting.Article Citation - WoS: 21Citation - Scopus: 35Deep Learning-Based Computer-Aided Diagnosis (cad): Applications for Medical Image Datasets(Mdpi, 2022) Kadhim, Yezi Ali; Khan, Muhammad Umer; Mishra, AlokComputer-aided diagnosis (CAD) has proved to be an effective and accurate method for diagnostic prediction over the years. This article focuses on the development of an automated CAD system with the intent to perform diagnosis as accurately as possible. Deep learning methods have been able to produce impressive results on medical image datasets. This study employs deep learning methods in conjunction with meta-heuristic algorithms and supervised machine-learning algorithms to perform an accurate diagnosis. Pre-trained convolutional neural networks (CNNs) or auto-encoder are used for feature extraction, whereas feature selection is performed using an ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm. Ant colony optimization helps to search for the best optimal features while reducing the amount of data. Lastly, diagnosis prediction (classification) is achieved using learnable classifiers. The novel framework for the extraction and selection of features is based on deep learning, auto-encoder, and ACO. The performance of the proposed approach is evaluated using two medical image datasets: chest X-ray (CXR) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for the prediction of the existence of COVID-19 and brain tumors. Accuracy is used as the main measure to compare the performance of the proposed approach with existing state-of-the-art methods. The proposed system achieves an average accuracy of 99.61% and 99.18%, outperforming all other methods in diagnosing the presence of COVID-19 and brain tumors, respectively. Based on the achieved results, it can be claimed that physicians or radiologists can confidently utilize the proposed approach for diagnosing COVID-19 patients and patients with specific brain tumors.Article Citation - Scopus: 1A User Task Design Notation for Improved Software Design(PeerJ Inc., 2021) Ozcan,E.; Topalli,D.; Tokdemir,G.; Cagiltay,N.E.System design is recognized as one of the most critical components of a software system that bridges system requirements and coding. System design also has a significant impact on testing and maintenance activities, and on further improvements during the lifespan of the software system. Software design should reflect all necessary components of the requirements in a clear and understandable manner by all stakeholders of the software system. To distinguish system elements, separation of concerns in software design is suggested. In this respect, identification of the user tasks, i.e., the tasks that need to be performed by the user, is not currently reflected explicitly in system design documents. Our main assumption in this study is that software quality can be improved significantly by clearly identifying the user tasks from those that need to be performed by the computer system itself. Additionally, what we propose has the potential to better reflect the user requirements and main objectives of the system on the software design and thereby to improve software quality. The main aim of this study is to introduce a novel notation for software developers in the frame of UML Activity Diagram (UMLAD) that enables designers to identify the user tasks and define them separately from the system tasks. For this purpose, an extension of UML-AD, named UML-ADE (UML-Activity Diagram Extended) was proposed. Afterwards, it was implemented in a serious game case for which the specification of user tasks is extremely important. Finally, its effectiveness was analyzed and compared to UML-AD experimentally with 72 participants. The defect detection performance of the participants on both diagrams with two real-life serious game scenarios was evaluated. Results show a higher level of understandability for those using UML-ADE, which in turn may indicate a better design and higher software quality. It is very important for individuals to have accurate health-related information to reduce these negative effects. Aim The aim of the study is to examine the health literacy of nursing students and its effective factors. Methods This descriptive study was carried out with students from the nursing department of a vocational school of health sciences between September and October 2018 in Turkey. A semi-structured questionnaire regarding the descriptive features of the participants and the European Health Literacy Scale were used for data collection. Results The study included 283 nursing students; 29.3% had a problematic-limited health literacy level. The study found a statically significant difference between student year, high school graduation and family's income level and the total mean score of the HLS-EU scale. Conclusion The subject of health literacy should be integrated into the educational program of nursing students. Despite the success of agile methods in the software maintenance process, several challenges have been reported. In this study, we investigate the challenges that measure the impact of agile methods in software maintenance in terms of quality factors. A survey was conducted to collect data from agile practitioners to establish their opinions about existing challenges. As a result of the statistical analysis of the data from the survey, it has been observed that there are moderately effective challenges in manageability, scalability, communication, collaboration, and transparency. As nations constantly share their scientific and philosophical knowledge with others, translation takes on a key role in the transmission of not only knowledge, but also the advancement of all aspects of the source culture. In this respect, the Qing and Ottoman empires, after experiencing military defeats, were able to recognise the progress made by certain nations as a result of the Industrial Revolution. The knowledge transfer from these industrialized countries therefore became part of the attempts by states, private institutions and reformers to catch up with these countries in the area of development through increased translation initiatives. Trends such as these subsequently continued to shape the culture-planning processes in many countries. Against this background, the present study aims to shine a light on the parallel course of translation movements in the modernization processes of China and Turkey from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century. All rights reserved.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 4The Geometry of Cuboctahedra in Medieval Art in Anatolia(Kim Williams Books, 2018) Hisarligil, Hakan; Bolak Hisarligil, BeyhanNumerous examples of cuboctahedra found in medieval-era buildings whose dates range from the early twelfth to the early fifteenth century across in Turkey indicate the significant use of such geometrical entities. Here we focus particularly on cuboctahedra with carved-out surfaces. The results show that although the unit cell, which is a combination of cubes and tetrahedra, sufficiently explains all examples, the octahemioctahedron and stella octangula strengthen the possibility of tetrahedral packing with its dual network and indicate a "vector matrix", as suggested by R. Buckminster Fuller. Therefore, their prevalent use as a "geometric solid" in a hollow cube frame and their appearance as an envelope of either tetrahedral packing or highly complex surfaces reveal almost 800-hundred-year-old examples of cuboctahedra as a Vector Equilibrium (VE) producing Isotropic Vector Matrix (IVM).
