For this purpose, a survey was conducted and the least square regression analysis approach was utilised to investigate the relationships among the constructs in the research model for male and female users from a general and ethical perspective, focusing on the reliability, performance and awareness factors. TAM has been extended to investigate how ethical and security awareness of users affect the actual usage of social learning applications. For this purpose, a survey was conducted and the Structural Equation Model approach was utilised to investigate the direct and indirect causal relationships among the constructs in the research model. However, the literature does not provide satisfactory evidence as for the characteristics and competencies of individuals. Especially, the employers' expectations of new graduates have not been investigated in detail for different work environments. The purpose of this paper is to examine employers' expectancies regarding technical, personal and educational competencies among IT-graduated employees to provide a comparison between individual and team work settings. Design/methodology/approach - A survey approach was used for this purpose, and the research model was tested using multiple regression. Findings - The results revealed that significant diversity exists in individual and team work settings regarding employers' expectations for new graduates' competencies in terms of adapting to new software development methods and approaches, using time effectively and experience gained in undergraduate projects. Originality/value - The results of this study will yield insight to computer-related departments in curriculum development by providing a comparison between the varying competencies required in individual and team work settings from the employer's perspective. To provide feedback to the corresponding departments, a survey regarding employer expectations and factors affecting these expectations has been conducted among a number of senior professionals and managers working in the IT sector in Turkey regarding this inconsistency. The employer expectations are considered in two empirical categories as competencies and adequacies. The multiple regression analysis technique has been used to analyze the survey data. Usage of collaborative tools may be a solution to the problems of not practicing the depth of the components of the subject. This study proposes the usage of a collaborative tool, namely, Google Docs in a software engineering course based on predefined scenarios. The review meeting subject was selected for this purpose and students' reactions were assessed with a survey after the completion of the experiments. The survey data were analysed using least square regression method. The results have shown that efficiency, certainty, satisfaction, advantage, complexity, learnability, and intention are indicators of the adoption of the online collaborative tool.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 7VISUAL AND TEXTUAL FEATURE FUSION FOR AUTOMATIC CUSTOMS TARIFF CLASSIFICATION(Ieee, 2015) Turhan, Bilgehan; Akar, Gozde B.; Turhan, Cigdem; Yuksel, CihanThe Harmonized Tariff Schedule for the classification of goods is a major determinant of customs duties and taxes. The basic HS Code is 6 digits long but can be extended according to the needs of the countries such as application of custom duties based on details of the product. Finding the correct, consistent, legally defensible HS Code is at the heart of Import Compliance. However finding the best code can be complicated, especially in the case of specialized products. In this paper, we propose an automatic HS code detection system based on visual properties of the product together with textual analysis of its labels/explanations. The proposed system first uses morphological parsing in order to extract roots of the words occurring in the textual phrases. Processed text information is further processed by the topic modeling module of the system to find the best matching HS Code definitions within the system. The result of the topic modeling is used to trigger visual search based on quantized local features. The proposed algorithm is evaluated using a database of 4494 Binding Tariffs published in 2014 by the European Union. For most students, this educational model was a compulsory first experience. In this study, the survey results are analyzed and discussed related to a group of students in the Engineering Faculty of a university in Turkey regarding their online education perceptions. Briefly summarized, the findings of the study indicate that: (a) most of the students still prefer face-to-face learning, which is also favored if accompanied by distance learning; (b) the concentration level of the students has dropped due to the concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic which affects their learning negatively; and (c) around half of the students participating in the study feel that the online exams conducted without a secure exam software, is considered unsafe. It explains the organizational structure established for preparation, determination and measurement of the educational objectives, program outcomes, course outcomes, and the continuous improvement cycle carried out during the preparation period. The aim of the paper is to share methods and experiences which may be beneficial for the other programs that are intended for accreditation.
