    Disturbance Rejection Control of a Quadrotor Equipped With a 2 DOF Manipulator

    In this study Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) is implemented for the attitude dynamics of the quadrotor flying platform. Quadrotor model with a 2 DOF manipulator is constructed. External disturbances, manipulator dynamics and internal plant dynamics are treated as total disturbance which are estimated and rejected in simulation environment. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.

    Physical and Mental Effects of Different Radical Prostatectomy Techniques on Urologic Surgeons

    Objective In this web-based international survey study, we aimed to show an association between physical exhaustion and patient, relatives, and employer-related mental stress for surgeons performing open radical prostatectomy (ORP), laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (LRP), and robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP). Additionally, we also aimed to compare the outcomes of three approaches. Methods We sent a ten-question survey to the urologists performing ORP, LRP, and RALP via e-mail and social media. Only fully completed surveys were included in the study analysis. We asked questions about age, the preferred surgical approach for radical prostatectomy, frequency of weekly exercise, and their possible associations with physical exhaustion and musculoskeletal complaints. Results A total of 160 urologists completed the survey. The RALP group showed a lower physical exhaustion rate and increased eye strain (p < 0.001) and p = 0.002, respectively). Although walking was the most preferred sports activity, no correlation was found between regular sport or exercise and musculoskeletal complaints (p > 0.05). Conclusion Compared to ORP and LRP, physical exhaustion was lower in the RALP technique. Although the number of participants was limited, regular exercise weakly improved physical exhaustion and musculoskeletal complaints. We believe that regular sports activities by urologists dealing with LRP and RALP will help relieve physical discomfort.

    Special Overview of Space and Space Mechatronics

    In this paper, meaning of space mechatronics, space mechatronics technology area and future trends are discussed. The technology area on space mechatronics is mainly concentrate on electro-mechanical systems working in space environment. They are robotic systems developed specifically for use in space. The space environment can be characterized by some factors that are different from the earth conditions. They are temperature, vacuum, lack of gravity and high radiation. The mechatronic systems in space environment are such systems that they have parts that make movements relative to each other. They have the capability of mechanical movement in such environments. In this paper, we try to define space mechatronics and give information on this technology area.

    İki Tekerlekli Üç Rotorlu Melez Robotun Yönelim ve İrtifa Denetimi

    İki tekerlekli üç döner kanatlı (2W3R) hibrid robot bu tezde incelenen yerde gidebilen ve havada gezinebilen, yeni bir sistemdir. Sistemin fiziksel yapısı Uçan Robotlar Laboratuvarında bir ders projesi olarak lisans öğrencileri tarafından Atılım Üniversitesi Mekatronik Mühendisliği Bölümünde yapılmıştır. Bu tez çalışmasının temel konusu sistemin havada stabil olarak gezinebilmesi için bir durum geri beslemeli denetimci tasarımı ve uygulanmasıdır. Yalpa (roll), yunuslama (pitch) ve sapma (yaw) dinamiklerinin eyleyiciler kullanılarak stabilizasyonu çalışılmıştır. İlk olarak doğrusal olmayan hareket denklemleri yazılmış, daha sonra doğrusallaştırılmış geribesleme (linear feedback linearization) ve lineer kuadratik regülatör (Linear Quadratic Regulator) kullanılmış ve Matlab Simulink içinde kontrolcüler geliştirilmiştir. Belirli test ve deneyler, mekatronik tasarım prensiplerine dayanarak 2W3R'ın fiziksel yapısının iyileştirilmesi, parametre hesaplamaları, eyleyici ve duyucuların seçimi, matematiksel modellerin oluşturulması ve son olarak denetleyicilerin karşılaştırılması verilmiştir.
