    Coherent System With Standby Components
(Wiley, 2018) Eryilmaz, Serkan; Erkan, T. Erman
A coherent system that consists of n independent components and equipped with r cold standby components is considered. A generalized mixture representation for the survival function of such a system is obtained, and it is used to examine reliability properties of the system. In particular, the effect of adding r standby components to a given set of original components is measured by computing mean time to failure of the system. The limiting behavior of the failure rate of the system is also examined using the mixture representation. The results are illustrated for a bridge system. A case study that is concerned with an oil pipeline system is also presented.

Mba Students' Preference On: Online, Formal and Hybrid Mba Programs
(Elsevier Science Bv, 2011) Rouyendegh, Babak Daneshvar; Erkan, Turan Erman
In recent years, there has been a rapid rise in student enrolments in both online and formal MBA programs. This study is based on the results of a case study in which over 30 students enrolled in a top-ranked online and formal MBA program. Thus, the Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process (FAHP) has been used for choosing the program. Due to the inability of AHP to deal with the impression and subjectiveness in the pair-wise comparison process, the FAHP has been used. The result of the research is interesting since neither an online nor a formal education program is preferred; a hybrid one has been developed. (C) 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

TEDARİK ZİNCİRİ PERFORMANSININ ENTEGRE İKİ AŞAMALI KÜMELEME VE ARALIK TİP-2 BULANIK TOPSİS YÖNTEMİ KULLANARAK DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ: BİR VAKA ÇALIŞMASI
(2019) Erdem, Mehmet; Erkan, Turan Erman

The Number of Failed Components in Series-Parallel System and Its Application To Optimal Design
(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2020) Eryilmaz, Serkan; Ozkurt, Fatma Yerlikaya; Erkan, T. Erman
The number of components that are failed at the time of system failure is a useful quantity since it gives an idea of how many spares should be available to replace all failed components upon the system failure. In this paper, the number of failed components is considered at subsystem and system levels for the series-parallel system that consists of K subsystems. In particular, the joint behavior of the number of failed components in each subsystem is studied when each subsystem has identical components and different subsystems have different types of components. The results are then used to find the optimal number of components in each subsystem by minimizing an expected cost per unit of time upon the system failure.

Intellectual Capital Management's Effects on Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation
(Acad Conferences Ltd, 2012) Erkan, Turan Erman; Ozdemir, Yavuz Selim; Bac, Ugur
The implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system can be one of the most important strategic decisions an organization undertakes. An implementation of ERP system has effects on improving all over system performance. However, there are many factors affecting the performance of ERP implementation and these factors have to be inspected in accordance to some performance measurements and metrics. Intellectual Capital Management (ICM) is one of the most important factors of ERP implementation. The ICM literature has produced tens of models to support the various ICM activities, such as identification, measurement, valuation, acquisition and reporting of intellectual capital. However, the practice of applying various ICM models seems to be a fairly new issue in many countries and organizations. Turkey is one of those countries that has just been introduced with ICM. Using an ICM system has different effects on the implementation of an ERP system. In this study, a questionnaire based research has been made on Turkish enterprises to analyze ICM'S effects on ERP implementation. Also, we made a cross industrial research and determined those effects in different manufacturing sectors such as electronics and food sectors. Questionnaire results have been analyzed with statistical methods to summarize the current situation. The results of this study can be used to compare the effects of implementation of ERP systems in different industries in Turkey. Understanding of this relationship is very important for current or future ERP implementations. Also these results can be used in the comparison of international differences of the effects of ICM on ERP implementation process.
