Development of a Maternal Psychological Control Scale: a Study With Turkish University Students
    (Springer, 2023) Metin-Orta, Irem; Metin-Camgoz, Selin
In the last few decades, parental control has received significant attention from scholars. In particular, much work has been dedicated to understanding psychological control, which is parental control intruding on the child's emotional and psychological development. This study aimed to develop a maternal psychological control scale (MPCS) and to test its psychometric properties in a sample of Turkish university students. Data were collected from two separate samples comprising a total of 425 participants. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was employed in Study Sample 1(215) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted using Study Sample 2 (210) to verify the parental manipulation and disregard dimensions of the proposed scale. The findings revealed supportive evidence for two dimensions of the 18-item MPCS. The bivariate correlations revealed that the MPCS scores were moderately and positively correlated with loneliness scores, and those from an existing psychological control scale; however, they were negatively correlated with behavioral control and self-esteem scores. The MPCS developed in this study can be utilized by researchers, clinicians, and educators as an efficient instrument to assess emerging adults' perceived psychological control. Overall, this study contributes to practitioners and researchers in the way that perceived parental psychological control is assessed in a wide range of populations.

Nöromüsküler Hastalarda Gövde Kontrolünün Değerlendirilmesi: Gövde Bozukluk Ölçeği’nin Geçerlik ve Güvenirliği
(Turkish Neurological Soc, 2018) Demir, Yasemin Parlak; Yıldırım, Sibel Aksu

Validity and Reliability of Turkish Version the Family Inventory of Needs-Pediatric Ii: an Inventory To Identify Care Needs of Parents of Children With Cancer
(Kare Publ, 2019) Boztepe, Handan; Ay, Ayşe; Monterosso, Leanne; Ayşe, A.Y.
OBJECTIVEThis study was conducted to translate and adapt the Family Inventory of Needs-Pediatric II (FIN-PEDII) into the Turkish language and investigate its validity and reliability for parents of children with cancer.METHODSA self-administered questionnaire and Family Inventory of Needs-Pediatric II was completed by 180parents whose children (0-18 years old) were diagnosed with leukemia, solid tumors, and central nervous system tumors. FIN-PED II was translated into Turkish and then back-translated and then evaluated by three experts for face validity. For construct validity, exploratory factor analysis was applied andfor reliability, internal consistency analysis was employed.RESULTSAs a result of exploratory factor analysis, it was observed that percentages of explaining total variancewere 74.787%, 68.649%, and 72.746% for sections of the importance of care needs, the need fulfilment, and the need for further information, respectively. As a result of Cronbach’s Alpha reliability analysis, the reliabilities of the sections on the importance of care needs, need fulfilment, and the need for furtherinformation for FIN-PED II was 0.814, 0.906, and 0.915.CONCLUSIONAlthough the Turkish version of FIN-PED II needs further psychometric testing, it is an effective, validand reliable tool to find out the care needs of parents of children with cancer.

Validity and Reliability of Turkish Version of the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale-8 Items in Adults
    (SAGE Publications Ltd, 2025) Çınar-Medeni, Ö.; İncekas, C.; Özcan, A.; Ozdemir, F.; Ulusoy, B.; Can Karahan, Z.; Can-Karahan, Zehra
Background: The enjoyment of physical activity significantly influences participation in sports and various forms of physical activity. This study aims to conduct a cross-cultural adaptation and assess the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Physical Activity Enjoyment Scale-8 Items (PACES-8). Methods: A total of 120 participants were included in the study. A standardized translation process was followed. Criterion-related validity was assessed using the Behavioral Regulation in Exercise Questionnaire-2 (BREQ-2) and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ). All participants were evaluated in two sessions following a 15-min walk. Sociodemographic data, PACES-8, BREQ-2, and IPAQ questionnaires were administered during the initial measurement, while the second measurement focused solely on assessing physical activity enjoyment. Results: Exploratory factor analysis revealed factor loadings ranging from 0.78 to 0.94, indicating a strong single-factor structure. The model demonstrated a good fit to the data (Chi-Square Goodness of Fit Test (χ²/df) = 3.26, p < 0.001; Comparative Fit Index = 0.96; Tucker-Lewis Index = 0.93). The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.95, reflecting excellent internal consistency. PACES-8 showed a low correlation with the external regulation score of BREQ-2 (r = -0.24, p = 0.03) and the physical activity score (IPAQ score) of participants (r = 0.24, p = 0.007). Conclusions: The findings suggest that the Turkish version of PACES-8 is a unidimensional, reliable, and valid instrument for measuring enjoyment of physical activity. Further research is needed to assess its validity across different populations. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.
