    A New Classifier Design With Fuzzy Functions
    (Springer-verlag Berlin, 2007) Celikytlmaz, Ash; Tuerksen, I. Burhan; Aktas, Ramazan; Doganay, M. Mete; Ceylan, N. Basak
    This paper presents a new fuzzy classifier design, which constructs one classifier for each fuzzy partition of a given system. The new approach, namely Fuzzy Classifier Functions (FCF), is an adaptation of our generic design on Fuzzy Functions to classification problems. This approach couples any fuzzy clustering algorithm with any classification method, in a unique way. The presented model derives fuzzy functions (rules) from data to classify patterns into number of classes. Fuzzy c-means clustering is used to capture hidden fuzzy patterns and a linear or a non-linear classifier function is used to build one classifier model for each pattern identified. The performance of each classifier is enhanced by using corresponding membership values of the data vectors as additional input variables. FCF is proposed as an alternate representation and reasoning schema to fuzzy rule base classifiers. The proposed method is evaluated by the comparison of experiments with the standard classifier methods using cross validation on test patterns.

    The Integrated Usage of Lbp and Hog Transformations and Machine Learning Algorithms for Age Range Prediction From Facial Images
    (Univ Osijek, Tech Fac, 2018) Khalifa, Tariq; Sengul, Gokhan
    Age prediction is an active study field that can be used in many computer vision problems due to its importance and effectiveness. In this paper, we present extensive experiments and provide an efficient and accurate approach for age range prediction of people from facial images. First, we apply image resizing to unify all images' size, and Histogram Equalization technique to reduce the illumination effects on all facial images taken from FG-NET and UTD aging databases. Second, Histogram of Oriented Gradient (HOG) and Local Binary Pattern (LBP) are used to extract the features of these images, and then we combined both HOG and LBP features in order to attain better prediction. Finally, Support Vector Machine (SVM) and k-Nearest Neighbour (k-NN) are used for the classification processes. In addition, k-fold, Leave-One-Out (LOO) and Confusion Matrix (CM) are used to evaluate the performance of proposed methods. The extensive and intensified experiments show that combining HOG and LBP features improved the age range predicting performance up to 99.87%.

    Feature fusion in part-based object detection;
    (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2015) Koyuncu,M.; Cetinkaya,B.
    In this study, classification of complex objects in images as a whole is compared with classification of its distinctive components using different features. In addition, the impact of feature fusion in part-based object detection is investigated. Applied method, implemented system, conducted tests and their results are presented in this paper. Test results show that, even in the case of a good segmentation, object components are classified more successfully compared to whole object and feature fusion method improves the obtained results to a certain degree. © 2015 IEEE.
