Cloud computing plays a critical role in modern society and enables a range of applications from infrastructure to social media. Such system must cope with varying load and evolving usage reflecting societies' interaction and dependency on automated computing systems whilst satisfying Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees. Enabling these systems are a cohort of conceptual technologies, synthesized to meet demand of evolving computing applications. In order to understand current and future challenges of such system, there is a need to identify key technologies enabling future applications. In this study, we aim to explore how three emerging paradigms (Blockchain, IoT and Artificial Intelligence) will influence future cloud computing systems. Further, we identify several technologies driving these paradigms and invite international experts to discuss the current status and future directions of cloud computing. Finally, we proposed a conceptual model for cloud futurology to explore the influence of emerging paradigms and technologies on evolution of cloud computing. (C) 2019 Elsevier B.V. Security Requirements in Iot Environments
(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2022) Binglaw,F.; Koyuncu,M.; Pusatlı,T.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a relatively new concept as it connects things (or objects) that do not have high computational power. The IoT helps these things see, listen, and take action by interoperating with minimal human intervention to make people’s lives easier. However, these systems are vulnerable to attacks and security threats that could potentially undermine consumer confidence in them. For this reason, it is critical to understand the characteristics of IoT security and their requirements before starting to discuss how to protect them. In this scope, the present work reviews the importance of security in IoT applications, factors that restrict the use of traditional security methods to protect IoTs, and the basic requirements necessary to judge them as secure environments. © 2022, ICST Institute for Computer Sciences, Social Informatics and Telecommunications Engineering.

Earthquake Response Framework With IoT-Based E-Government Services
    (Modestum, 2026) Mishra, A.; Alzoubi, Y.I.; Ibrahim, T.
Earthquakes present a genuine threat to both lives and property, necessitating the minimization of their impact wherever possible. This is especially critical in countries like Iraq, which suffer from inadequate infrastructure. Consequently, this study developed a framework aimed at bolstering Iraq’s current disaster management system to respond to earthquakes. The designation of this system stems from its integration of information and communication technology principles alongside the Internet of things (IoT). The framework’s development was built based on related literature and data collected from websites related to disaster management, including the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Communication. The resultant framework was constructed utilizing unified modeling language diagrams, including both use-case and activity diagrams. This endeavor represents one of the few initiatives undertaken in the context of Iraq. Future research endeavors focusing on disaster planning in Iraq and similar contexts may utilize the findings of this study as a foundational resource. © 2026 by Author/s and Licensed by Modestum DOO, Serbia.

An Iot Application for Locating Victims Aftermath of an Earthquake
(Ieee, 2017) Karakaya, Murat; Sengul, Gokhan; Gokcay, Erhan
This paper presents an Internet of Things (IoT) framework which is specially designed for assisting the research and rescue operations targeted to collapsed buildings aftermath of an earthquake. In general, an IoT network is used to collect and process data from different sources called things. According to the collected data, an IoT system can actuate different mechanisms to react the environment. In the problem at hand, we exploit the IoT capabilities to collect the data about the victims before the building collapses and when it falls down the collected data is processed to generate useful reports which will direct the search and rescue efforts. The proposed framework is tested by a pilot implementation with some simplifications. The initial results and experiences are promising. During the pilot implementation, we observed some issues which are addressed in the proposed IoT framework properly.

Cognitive Radio and Its Applications in the New Trend of Communication System: a Review
(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2022) Al-Sudani,H.; Thabit,A.A.; Dalveren,Y.
Spectrum efficiency decay due to high demand for high data rate and growing technologies, tens of billions of connected devices need to provide by the services wirelessly causing a sharp drop in spectral efficiency and high-power consumption. The software-defined technologies represent one of the most important enabling keys to 5G and beyond networks, which designed to host all emerging technologies in heterogeneous networks. Cognitive radio (CR) is a software-defined radio (SDR) and a magical tool to relieve spectrum scarcity and reduce the consumed power for communication. This paper surveys the detection techniques integrated with artificial neural networks (ANN) in heterogeneous networks to address a future work to accelerate the establishment of reconfigurable software-defined technologies and to succor the spectrum. It is found that wireless sensor network (WSN) and the internet of things (IoT) are expected to be the most influencers of the spectrum's solidity which have led the authors to conclude interesting future work. © 2022 IEEE.
