    A bayes decision model for RSS based location estimation;

    This work introduces a location estimation method based on Bayes Decision Theory using Radio Signal Strengths for indoor environment. Signal Strengths are observed through three transmitters at three distinct frequencies in UHF band, an active RFID tag and a modem connected to a computer. The test environment is 2100cmx720cm, which is divided into classed of square grids. For each class, a set of received signal strengths are measured and processed. Assuming that the class in which the RFID tag was located in the previous time of measurement is known, the next location (class) is estimated using Bayes Decision Theory. Proposed method is tested in a laboratory environment with obstacles. Results show that proposed method will be successful in location estimation where the estimation error stays within around 2m.

    Argumentation To Foster Pre-Service Science Teachers' Knowledge, Competency, and Attitude on the Domains of Chemical Literacy of Acids and Bases

    Argumentative practices have the potential to contribute to scientific literacy. However, these practices are not widely incorporated in science classrooms and so their effect on the domains of literacy is still not revealed. Therefore, this study proposes to reveal the effect of argumentation on the three domains of chemical literacy related to the concepts of acids and bases. The study participants comprised 29 freshman pre-service science teachers' enrolled in a General Chemistry-II course. Argumentation practices were implemented over six weeks. Open-ended contextual chemical literacy items were developed to assess the differences in the chemical literacy domains and the items were administered before and right after the intervention. The responses to the chemical literacy items were scored with a rubric and three scores were calculated: knowledge, competency, and attitudes. Paired sample t-tests were used to compare the mean scores. All the intervention sessions were video recorded, and three of them were analyzed according to three criteria: the presence of arguments, the frequency of arguments, and the levels of the arguments. The findings revealed that the argumentation practices contributed to the pre-service teachers' chemical literacy skills, mostly to their knowledge and competencies when compared to their attitudes. Moreover, distinct differences in the quality of argumentation levels were observed over the six weeks.

    Some Almost Generalized (ψ, Φ)-Contractions in g-metric Spaces

    In this paper, we introduce some almost generalized (psi, phi)-contractions in the setting of G-metric spaces. We prove some fixed points results for such contractions. The presented theorems improve and extend some known results in the literature. An example is also presented.

    Talk the Talk, or Walk the Walk? Changing Narratives in Europeanization Research

    Over the past two decades, there has been a growing interest in Europeanization, both within and beyond the European Union (EU). The impact of Eastern enlargement in 2004 on candidate and neighbourhood countries has attracted scholarly attention, and a consensus currently exists on the success of the EU's transformative power through the employment of a conditionality mechanism. However, the limits of EU conditionality upon candidate countries and neighbourhood Europeanization, in addition to the problems experienced by the EU itself, have brought into question whether the end of Europeanization research is in sight. Considering this, we critically evaluate the issues discussed in the scholarship on Europeanization and review several points of interest in relation to EU candidate countries in the Western Balkans as well as Turkey.

    Design and Fabrication of Ka Band Circular Horn Antenna;

    In this paper, design and fabrication of a circular horn antenna is presented. The antenna is designed for experimental use at Ka band. The design process includes feeding structure for coaxial line and geometrical parameters of the antenna. The bandwidth of the antenna is measured as 2.25GHz, (S 11 ≤-10dB) which satisfies the requirements of targeted experimental study. A reference monopole is also designed for the measurements of antenna parameters. Antenna radiation pattern is measured with the reference monopole antenna using a VNA (S12) instead of typical signal generator/spectrum analyzer pair. Accuracy of antenna parameters along with the errors made in fabrication process is also discussed in the paper. © 2012 IEEE.

    Revealing Defect Centers in Pbwo4 Single Crystals Using Thermally Stimulated Current Measurements

    The trap centers have a significant impact on the electronic properties of lead tungstate (PbWO4), suggesting their crucial role in optoelectronic applications. In the present study, we investigated and revealed the presence of shallow trap centers in PbWO4 crystals through the utilization of the thermally stimulated current (TSC) method. TSC experiments were performed in the 10-280 K range by applying a constant heating rate. The TSC spectrum showed the presence of a total of four peaks, two of which were overlapped. As a result of analyzing the TSC spectrum using the curve fit method, the activation energies of revealed centers were found as 0.03, 0.11, 0.16, and 0.35 eV. The trapping centers were associated with hole centers according to the comparison of TSC peak intensities recorded by illuminating the opposite polarity contacts. Our findings not only contribute to the fundamental understanding of the charge transport mechanisms in PbWO4 crystals but also hold great promise for enhancing their optoelectronic device performance. The identification and characterization of these shallow trap centers provide valuable insights for optimizing the design and fabrication of future optoelectronic devices based on PbWO4.
