Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1THE USE OF CUMULANTS FOR VOICED-UNVOICED SEGMENTS IDENTIFICATION IN SPEECH SIGNALS(Ieee, 2014) Uslu, Baran; Tora, HakanIn this study, voiced-unvoiced classification performance of Turkish sounds using skewness and kurtosis is examined. The analyses show that higher order cumulants can be employed as a feature in voiced-unvoiced classification that is vital in speech processing applications. Furthermore, it has been shown that cumulants are also useful for identifying voiced and unvoiced segments in noisy speech signals.Conference Object Using learning style theory in remote laboratory applications(Ieee, 2007) Tokdemir, Guel; Cagiltay, Nergiz ErcilStudies have shown that, while learning different concepts, people sometimes use different approaches. These different approaches define individual learning styles. Understanding learning style differences is thus an important step in improving performance of the individuals and educational institutions. In this study, a learning style assessment tool was used to examine the relationship between students' learning styles and their performance in engineering education programs of Atilim University. 329 students (55 female) participated in this study. At their first year in the program, students' learning styles are measured by a learning style assessment tool developed by David Kolb. The results show that, at the Atilim University's engineering education program, most of the students are having assimilator type of learning style (45%). Convergers (27%) and divergers (22%) follow the assimilators. The number of accommodators is very limited (5%). This information can be used to create adaptive teaching environments in distance education courses.Conference Object Infrared Absorption Spectroscopy of Monolayers with Thin Film Interference Coatings(Ieee, 2017) Ayas, Sencer; Bakan, Gokhan; Ozgur, Erol; Celebi, Kemal; dana, AykutluWe report high performance Infrared spectroscopy platforms based on interference coatings on metal using CaF2 dielectric films and Ge2Sb2Te5 (GST) phase-change films. IR vibrational bands of proteins and organic monolayers are also detected.Conference Object A remote laboratory for training in radio communications(Ieee, 2007) Kara, Ali; Aydin, Elif Uray; Oektem, Rusen; Cagiltay, NergizThis paper presents, first, a short survey of remote laboratory initiatives in electrical and computer engineering, and then discusses design and development phases of remote laboratory environment on radio communications, the ERRL (European Remote Radio Laboratory). As being the first. attempt in establishing of such a large scale remote laboratory on radio communications, ERRL enables access to high technology RF equipments and setups through the Internet. The software structure, target groups and experimental set ups of ERRL are shortly discussed. First attempts on implementation of pilot experiments are discussed.Conference Object Pilot remote experiment in the ERRL(Ieee, 2007) Oezen, Mustafa; Aydin, Elif Uray; Kara, AliA remote laboratory platform enables the learners to access physical instruments at distant location and to perform experiments remotely via the Internet. This paper focuses on a pilot remote laboratory experiment on measurement of scattering parameters (s parameters) by using vector network analyzer (VNA) in the ERRL (European Remote Radio Laboratory) platform. The results of the pilot experiment are presented, and discussed shortly.Article Citation - Scopus: 45Sharp and smooth breaks in unit root testing of renewable energy consumption: The way forward(International Research Center for Energy and, 2018) Shahbaz,M.; Omay,T.; Roubaud,D.[No abstract available]Editorial Preface(Springer Science and Business Media Deutschland GmbH, 2022) Peng,Z.; Hwang,J.-Y.; White,J.F.; Downey,J.P.; Gregurek,D.; Zhao,B.; Mahmoud,M.M.[No abstract available]
