A Note on 'ψ-geraghty Type Contractions'
(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2014) Karapinar, Erdal; Samet, Bessem
Very recently, the notion of a psi-Geraghty type contraction was defined by Gordji et al. (Fixed Point Theory and Applications 2012: 74, 2012). In this short note, we realize that the main result via psi-Geraghty type contraction is equivalent to an existing related result in the literature. Consequently, all results inspired by the paper of Gordji et al. in (Fixed Point Theory and Applications 2012:74, 2012) can be derived in the same way.

Contractive Multivalued Maps in Terms of q-functions on Complete Quasimetric Spaces
(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2014) Karapinar, Erdal; Romaguera, Salvador; Tirado, Pedro
In this paper we prove the existence of a fixed point for multivalued maps satisfying a contraction condition in terms of Q-functions, and via Bianchini-Grandolfi gauge functions, for complete T-0-quasipseudometric spaces. Our results extend, improve, and generalize some recent results in the literature. We present some examples to validate and illustrate our results.

A Note on Caristi-Type Cyclic Maps: Related Results and Applications
(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2013) Du, Wei-Shih; Karapinar, Erdal
In this note, we first introduce the concept of Caristi-type cyclic map and present a new convergence theorem and a best proximity point theorem for Caristi-type cyclic maps. It should be mentioned that in our results, the dominated functions need not possess the lower semicontinuity property. Some best proximity point results and convergence theorems in the literature have been derived from our main results. Consequently, the presented results improve, extend and generalize some of the existence results on the topic.

Tripled Coincidence Point Results for Generalized Contractions in Ordered Generalized Metric Spaces
(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2012) Aydi, Hassen; Karapinar, Erdal; Shatanawi, Wasfi
In this paper, we establish some tripled coincidence point results for a mixed g-monotone mapping F : X (3) -> X satisfying (psi, I center dot)-contractions in ordered generalized metric spaces. Also, an application and some examples are given to support our results.

Users' Behavioral Strategies Toward Mobile App Problems: Fight or Flight
(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2019) Inal, Yavuz; Hacaloglu, Tuna
In this paper, we identify two distinct behavioral strategies for dealing with problems encountered in the use of mobile apps - fight or flight. In the fight strategy, individuals do not give up using an app when faced with a problem; rather, they experiment with different ways to cope with that problem, whereas the flight strategy refers to the user's decision to uninstall an app when they encounter a problem and/or their intention to use an alternative app. These strategies were identified from an analysis of documents, which forty-two users reported, and can be used to understand how users deal with encountered problems. The participants were asked to use a mobile app of their choice for one week and report the behavioral strategies they utilized to counter problems they experienced. According to the findings obtained from content analysis, the most reported complaints concerned the categories of interface design, functional error, feature request, and feature removal. The participants who complained about functional errors, frustrating features, and slow application speed stopped using the app (flight behavior) whereas those that were dissatisfied with the interface, a missing feature or the content of the app continued to use the app and tried to overcome the problems (fight behavior).

Best Proximity Points of Generalized Almost Ψ-Geraghty Contractive Non-Self
(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2014) Aydi, Hassen; Karapinar, Erdal; Erhan, Inci M.; Salimi, Peyman
In this paper, we introduce the new notion of almost psi-Geraghty contractive mappings and investigate the existence of a best proximity point for such mappings in complete metric spaces via the weak P-property. We provide an example to validate our best proximity point theorem. The obtained results extend, generalize, and complement some known fixed and best proximity point results from the literature.

The Existence of Optimal Approximate Solution Theorems for Generalized Α-Proximal Contraction Non-Self Mappings and Applications
(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2013) Karapinar, Erdal; Sintunavarat, Wutiphol
In this paper, we investigate the sufficient conditions to find a best proximity point for a certain class of non-self mappings. It is well known that optimization problems can be transformed to the problems of the existence of a best proximity point. Hence, improvement in the best proximity point theory implicitly develops the theory of optimization. Our presented results generalize, extent and improve various well-known results on the topic in the literature. In particular, we consider some applications of our results to the best proximity point theorems on a class of metric spaces endowed with an arbitrary binary relation which involves the partially ordered metric spaces.

A Statistical Analysis of Process Abnormalities in Slab Casting
(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2018) Keskinkilic, Ender
Continuous casting of slabs is conducted with two successive steel flows: first from ladle to tundish, then from tundish to mold. There are certain process abnormalities related to ladle, tundish and mold. For example, change of submerged entry nozzle (SEN) is the one encountered during steel flow from tundish to mold. Tundish exchange is the abnormality taking place due to replacement of processed tundish with the new one at rest. Another example is the flow of steel from ladle to tundish without a ladle shroud. In this study, a statistical analysis was conducted related to the process abnormalities in slab casters of a steel plant. Slab surface defects observed in slab yard was incorporated in this analysis.

Solid-State Reduction Studies for Recovery of Iron From Red Mud
(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2020) Keskinkilic, Ender; Pournaderi, Saeid; Geveci, Ahmet; Topkaya, Yavuz A.
Red mud or bauxite residue can be regarded as a by-product of aluminum extraction process since it contains a significant amount of iron and some valuable elements. Therefore, the treatment of red mud has been a hot topic for some decades. Last year, the authors started a laboratory-scale project dealing with stepwise recovery of valuable elements from red mud of Seydisehir Aluminum Plant, Turkey. The first step is related to the recovery of iron and pyrometallurgical methods (solid-state reduction and smelting) are currently being performed. Nonferrous metals will then be selectively leached in the second step. In TMS 2019, the authors outlined the literature related to the smelting studies for iron recovery from bauxite residue. In the extent of the present work, a literature review relevant to the solid-state reduction studies for recovery of iron from red mud was presented.
