This research explores the factors involved in the adoption of Agile methods in software development organizations. A survey was conducted among Agile professionals to gather survey data from 52 software organizations in seven countries across the world. Statistical techniques are applied towards empirical assessment. Organizational culture, team structure and management support are found to be crucial success factors whereas lack of management support, a large organization size and traditional organizational culture are found to be detrimental for the adoption of Agile approach in an organization. The selection of an appropriate Agile method depends on the project size and, for each size, there are specific methods preferred by different enterprises. Providing better control over the work is viewed as the primary advantage of the Agile methods within large and small organizations, while for the medium-size organizations, the priority is switched to coping with changing user requirements. In a bid to avoid being penalized, some organizations have adopted various techniques to accomplish this task. However, literature revealed that few thorough reviews have been centered on this subject in a systematic way. This implies that a review that systematically captured the entire crucial elements such as implementation environment, constraints types addressed, main contributions and strengths of the existing techniques is missing. This has led to the lack of sufficiently good context of operation. A systematic review on existing literatures is presented in this paper, which focuses on the management of business process compliance requirements in order to present summarized evidences and provide a lead-up for appropriately positioning new research activities. The guideline for conducting systematic literature review in software engineering by Kitchenham was employed in carrying out the systematic review as well as a review planning template to execute the review. Results showed that control flow and data flow requirements have been addressed most in recent time. The temporal and resource allocation requirements have been under researched. The approaches that have been employed in business process compliance requirements management are model checking, patterns, semantic, formal, ontology, goal-based requirements analysis and network analysis. The traditional business environment has been put into consideration more than the cloud environment. The summary of research contributions revealed that the approaches have been more of formal techniques compared to model checking and semantics. This shows that there is a need for more research on business process compliance that will be centered on the cloud environment. In this paper, we propose a cognitive complexity metric for evaluating design of object-oriented (OO) code. The proposed metric is based on an important feature of the OO systems: Inheritance. It calculates the complexity at method level considering internal structure of methods, and also considers inheritance to calculate the complexity of class hierarchies. The proposed metric is validated both theoretically and empirically. For theoretical validation, principles of measurement theory are applied since the measurement theory has been proposed and extensively used in the literature as a means to evaluate the software engineering metrics. We applied our metric on a real project for empirical validation and compared it with Chidamber and Kemerer (CK) metrics suite. The theoretical, practical and empirical validations and the comparative study prove the robustness of the measure.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 4An Improved Methodology for Dynamic Modelling and Simulation of Electromechanically Coupled Drive Systems: An Experimental Validation(Springer india, 2015) Erdogan, Nuh; Henao, Humberto; Grisel, RichardThe complexity of electromechanical coupling drive system (ECDS)s, specifically electrical drive systems, makes studying them in their entirety challenging since they consist of elements of diverse nature, i.e. electric, electronics and mechanics. This presents a real struggle to the engineers who want to design and implement such systems with high performance, efficiency and reliability. For this purpose, engineers need a tool capable of modelling and/or simulating components of diverse nature within the ECDS. However, a majority of the available tools are limited in their capacity to describe the characteristics of such components sufficiently. To overcome this difficulty, this paper first proposes an improved methodology of modelling and simulation for ECDS. The approach is based on using domain-based simulators individually, namely electric and mechanic part simulators and also integrating them with a co-simulation. As for the modelling of the drive machine, a finely tuned dynamic model is developed by taking the saturation effect into account. In order to validate the developed model as well as the proposed methodology, an industrial ECDS is tested experimentally. Later, both the experimental and simulation results are compared to prove the accuracy of the developed model and the relevance of the proposed methodology.Article Citation - Scopus: 4Attitude of Mobile Telecommunication Subscribers Towards Sim Card Registration in Lagos State, Southwestern Nigeria(Springer india, 2019) Oyediran, O.; Omoshule, A.; Misra, Sanjay; Maskeliunas, Rytis; Damasevicius, RobertasDespite the concerted effort of the Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) to ensure that Nigeria mobile phone subscribers register their SIM cards, there has been some level of apathy on the part of the mobile phone subscribers. This study investigated the attitude of mobile telecommunication subscribers towards SIM card registration in Lagos Metropolis, Nigeria. The theories of planned behaviour and reasoned action were adapted for the study because they provide the necessary constructs that help to investigate the attitudes of telecommunication subscribers. The purposive sampling technique was adopted in selecting five local government areas within Lagos. Random sampling method was used to select 300 mobile phone subscribers. In total, 290 responses were collected and were found usable. Data analysis was performed using statistical methods, and Spearman's correlation analysis was used to test relationship between the variables of interest. The results of the study revealed that SIM card users have positive attitude towards SIM card registration. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use significantly influenced subscribers attitude towards SIM card registration with both of them having negative significant relationship with attitude towards registration (r = -.116, r = -.132, p < 0.05) respectively.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 5Medicine Distribution Problem Between Pharmacy Warehouse and Pharmacies(Springer india, 2022) Kose, Erkan; Duzenli, Berkay; Cakmak, Saliha; Vural, DanismentThe pharmaceutical supply chain consists of supplier, distributor (pharmaceutical warehouses) and retail (pharmacists) stages. Since the costs of some pharmaceuticals are high while their shelf life is short, it is not possible for pharmacies to keep all kinds of drugs in their stocks. Instead, pharmacies maintain reasonable amounts of inventory for products with high demand, while fulfilling orders for those with low demand through pharmaceutical warehouses. In this study, the real life drug distribution problem of a pharmacy warehouse that meets demands of 186 pharmacies in 9 regions is addressed. Optimal distribution routes that minimize both the transportation time and the costs are obtained by using our two-stage optimization approach without changing the company's infrastructure. At first, the multiple traveling salesman method, which is an extension of the traveling salesman problem, is used to determine the optimal routes. In the second stage, the system is simulated to determine the most suitable travel frequencies and the savings in the number of vehicles used. The results show that, savings of 52% in vehicles used and 46% in distance traveled per day can be obtained if the developed model is applied.
