Sustainable Software Engineering: Curriculum Development Based on Acm/Ieee Guidelines
    (Springer International Publishing, 2021) Mishra,A.; Mishra,D.
Climate change risk and environmental degradation are the most critical issues of our society. Our technology-influenced daily lifestyle involves many types of software and apps which are used by society at large, and their use is increasing more than ever before. Sustainability is a significant topic for future professionals and more so for software engineers due to its impact on society. It is crucial to motivate and raise concern among students and faculty members regarding sustainability by including it in the Software Engineering (SE) curriculum. This chapter discusses how sustainability can be included in various courses of the SE curriculum by considering ACM/IEEE curriculum guidelines for the SE curriculum, literature review, and various viewpoints so that SE students can attain knowledge on sustainable software engineering. It also includes an assessment of key competences in sustainability for proposed units in the SE curriculum. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021. All rights reserved.

Dirichlet Problems for the Generalized N-Poisson Equation
    (Springer International Publishing, 2010) Aksoy,Ü.; Çelebi,A.O.
Polyharmonic hybrid Green functions, obtained by convoluting polyharmonic Green and Almansi Green functions, are taken as kernels to define a hierarchy of integral operators. They are used to investigate the solvability of some types of Dirichlet problems for linear complex partial differential equations with leading term as the polyharmonic operator. © 2009 Birkhäuser Verlag Basel/Switzerland.

Nutritional Management of Pediatric Ent Infections
    (Springer International Publishing, 2021) Kalyoncu,Z.B.; Norde,M.M.; Özel,H.G.
Nutrition is the science that investigates how nutrients and food compounds nourish one’s body and interact with health and disease [1]. Although the relationship between diet and disease occurrence, prevention and treatment have been studied extensively [2], the interaction between nutritional status and ENT infections has been heavily understudied, especially among pediatric populations [3]. Nutritional care should be as specialized as medicine; thus, nutritional management of ENT infections needs to be tailored towards the personalized medical needs of the patients. Healthy and balanced nutrition not only maintains proper growth and development in children, but also decreases the risk of morbidity and mortality [4]. As both health care practitioners and parents become more aware of the impact of nutrition in acute and chronic diseases, it is essential to understand nutrition’s role in managing health and disease risk reduction [5]. Also, since parents feed their children daily, empowering them with the knowledge of a healthy diet would enhance their involvement and confidence in caring for the patients. Therefore, the aim of this chapter is to provide an overview of the nutritional assessment and treatment to reduce the burden of pediatric ENT infections. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.

    Introduction: Exploring Non-Discrimination in Turkey
    (Springer International Publishing, 2022) Yilmaz,G.
The principle of non-discrimination is at the heart of the international law, being “the only human rights explicitly included in the United Nations(UN) Charter, and they appear at the beginning of virtually every major human rights instrument” (Farrior, S. (2017). Introduction. In S. Farrior (Ed.). Equality and Non-discrimination under International Law Volume II. (xii-xxiii).London and New York: Routledge., p. xi). The principle requires equality of all persons without any discrimination on the basis of various elements like race, color, ethnicity, language, sex, sexual orientation, religion, political opinion, social or economic origin. © The Editor(s)(if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.

Non-Discrimination of Religious Minorities in Turkey: a Fairytale
    (Springer International Publishing, 2022) Akdemir,T.G.
In Turkey, the principle of non-discrimination on the basis of religion has been a controversial issue given the fragility of the identity politics; the concept of minority, citizenship, unifying principles and religion being a gluing factor of society. © The Editor(s)(if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.

Fixed Point Theory in Metric Type Spaces
    (Springer International Publishing, 2016) Agarwal,R.P.; Karapinar,E.; O’regan,D.; Roldán-López-De-Hierro,A.F.
Written by a team of leading experts in the field, this volume presents a self-contained account of the theory, techniques and results in metric type spaces (in particular in G-metric spaces); that is, the text approaches this important area of fixed point analysis beginning from the basic ideas of metric space topology. The text is structured so that it leads the reader from preliminaries and historical notes on metric spaces (in particular G-metric spaces) and on mappings, to Banach type contraction theorems in metric type spaces, fixed point theory in partially ordered G-metric spaces, fixed point theory for expansive mappings in metric type spaces, generalizations, present results and techniques in a very general abstract setting and framework. Fixed point theory is one of the major research areas in nonlinear analysis. This is partly due to the fact that in many real world problems fixed point theory is the basic mathematical tool used to establish the existence of solutions to problems which arise naturally in applications. As a result, fixed point theory is an important area of study in pure and applied mathematics and it is a flourishing area of research. © David Ralph 2015.

    Lyapunov Inequalities and Applications
    (Springer International Publishing, 2021) Agarwal,R.P.; Bohner,M.; Özbekler,A.
This book provides an extensive survey on Lyapunov-type inequalities. It summarizes and puts order into a vast literature available on the subject, and sketches recent developments in this topic. In an elegant and didactic way, this work presents the concepts underlying Lyapunov-type inequalities, covering how they developed and what kind of problems they address. This survey starts by introducing basic applications of Lyapunov's inequalities. It then advances towards even-order, odd-order, and higher-order boundary value problems; Lyapunov and Hartman-type inequalities; systems of linear, nonlinear, and quasi-linear differential equations; recent developments in Lyapunov-type inequalities; partial differential equations; linear difference equations; and Lyapunov-type inequalities for linear, half-linear, and nonlinear dynamic equations on time scales, as well as linear Hamiltonian dynamic systems. Senior undergraduate students and graduate students of mathematics, engineering, and science will benefit most from this book, as well as researchers in the areas of ordinary differential equations, partial differential equations, difference equations, and dynamic equations. Some background in calculus, ordinary and partial differential equations, and difference equations is recommended for full enjoyment of the content. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021. Business Cycles and Energy Real Options Valuation
    (Springer International Publishing, 2021) Kenc,T.; Ekinci,M.F.
This paper uses a real options approach to value energy projects whose cash flows follow a normal distribution and subject to macroeconomic risks. Large and irreversible energy investments are usually modelled in real options frameworks with lognormal distributions. This line of research omits two important factors for energy investments. They are the existence of negative cash flows and the impact of business cycles. We developed a unified framework to capture the implications of these omitted features. The framework is based on an arithmetic Brownian motion (ABM) process for the dynamics of cash flows with regime shifts. Our numerical analysis provide results on investment triggering cash flow critical values, probability of investing and optimal investment time. Comparing these results with those obtained under a conventional real option value framework with geometric Brownian motion (GBM) suggests that there are significant differences across these models. The results indicate that ABM investors are more likely to invest within a specified period. Numerical analysis also points that macroeconomic risks are important for investors. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2021, corrected publication 2021.
