Article Citation - Scopus: 4Legitimation, Co-Optation, and Survival: Why Is Turkey Silent on China’s Persecution of Uyghurs?(Routledge, 2023) Eliküçük Yıldırım,N.China built internment camps officially referred to as training centres within the scope of a policy for countering extremism and terrorism in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in 2017. While the repression imposed by China on Uyghurs in these camps has attracted the response of the international community, there has been neither a public protest nor a meaningful government response to China in Turkey, despite it having been the voice of Uyghurs on international platforms before 2017. This study aims to identify the reasons for Turkey's silence on the persecution of Uyghurs by utilizing the legitimation and co-optation strategies of the authoritarian stability framework. The Turkish government’s legitimation strategies of “rallying around the flag” via anti-Americanism and the economic expectations of China to boost its performance-based legitimacy are evaluated as reasons for the government’s silence on the Uyghur cause. Moreover, it is also discussed how formal and informal co-optation strategies of the government with nationalist and Eurasianist parties are playing a role as a bolstering mechanism of its silence policy on Uyghurs. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.Editorial Exploring the puzzle of minority rights Introduction(Routledge, 2017) Yilmaz, Gozde[No Abstract Available]Book Part Citation - Scopus: 1Eliminating Economic Violence Against Women for Gender Equality Empowering Women Through Human Rights Based Approach(Routledge, 2019) Simsek, Altin Asli[No Abstract Available]Article Production Fragmentation and Transport Mode Choice in Eu-28 Exports(Routledge, 2024) Türkcan,K.; Saygılı,H.This study uses detailed data on exports from the European Union (EU-28) to non-EU countries to investigate the impact of global production fragmentation on the choice of transportation modes. The article finds a positive relationship between production fragmentation and air transportation. The study also finds that air transportation is more likely to be chosen for high-value products. Additionally, the positive effect of production fragmentation on the likelihood of using air transportation is more pronounced when goods are exported to medium-range markets, upper-middle-income countries, countries with better air transportation infrastructure, and time-sensitive products. © 2024 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.Article Citation - Scopus: 12Causal Relationship Among the Sources of Anxiety, Self-Efficacy, and Proficiency in L2 Listening(Routledge, 2020) Canaran,Ö.; Bayram,İ.; Doğan,M.; Baturay,M.H.Recent research focusing on the sources of listening anxiety identified individual and external factors (IEF), listeners’ control over input (LC), and perceived level of task difficulty (PTD) as the main causes of anxiety among L2 listeners. This correlational study aims to explore whether the sources of anxiety in L2 listening have a causal relationship to listeners’ self-efficacy and listening proficiency. Data were gathered from 347 students studying in the preparatory program of English in Turkey through Foreign Language Anxiety Scale (FLAC), Listening Self-efficacy Scale (LSS), and listening test scores of the students. Structural equation modeling (SEM) technique was conducted for data analysis. Results showed that there were strong negative associations between individual and external factors causing anxiety and self-efficacy while there were moderate level, negative associations between the perceived level of task difficulty and self-efficacy in L2 listening. Our work further proved that the listeners’ control over input was positively and moderately related to the levels of listeners’ self-efficacy, which was positively and strongly correlated with proficiency in L2 listening. © 2020, © 2020 International Listening Association.Book Part Transformative Power of the European Union, Minority Rights and Turkey(Routledge, 2017) Yilmaz, Gozde[No Abstract Available]Book Part Media and Democracy in Turkey an Analysis on the News Media Framing of Gezi Park Protests(Routledge, 2016) Sayin, Cagkan; Toros, Emre[No Abstract Available]Book Part Citation - WoS: 1Theorizing Europeanization Through Enlargement Pull-And Model(Routledge, 2017) Yilmaz, Gozde[No Abstract Available]Book Part Transition To Pull Without Push in 2005-2007 From the Eu To the 'domestic(Routledge, 2017) Yilmaz, Gozde[No Abstract Available]Book Part Pull Without Push in 2008-2014 Drift From the Eu and Rule by the 'domestic(Routledge, 2017) Yilmaz, Gozde[No Abstract Available]
