Conference Object Citation - WoS: 1The Generalized Divergence Theorem and Its Application To Harmonic Maps(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2001) García-Río, E; Kupeli, DNA survey of divergence theorems in semi-Riemannian geometry is made. The generalization of a divergence theorem to vector fields along a map is given in semi-Riemannian geometry and an application of it is made in Riemannian geometry to obtain some sufficient conditions for a map to be harmonic.Article Citation - WoS: 21Citation - Scopus: 21Special Standard Static Space-Times(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2004) Dobarro, F; Ünal, BEssentially, some conditions for the Riemannian factor and the warping function of a standard static space-time are obtained in order to guarantee that no nontrivial warping function on the Riemannian factor can make the standard static space-time Einstein. The criterion takes the form of linear matrix inequality (LMI) and, hence, is computationally tractable. The criterion is a generalization and improvement over an earlier criterion. An example shows the effectiveness of the new criterion. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. The wave functions are studied in terms of spatial dimensionality alpha and beta and the results for beta = 3 are compared with those obtained in the literature. (C) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. It first emerged in Europe in the 1850s and was adopted in a number of Late Ottoman period structures, mostly in Istanbul, during the first two decades of the twentieth century. During the Early Turkish Republic (1923-1938), RC appeared in public-use buildings in Ankara, such as the Ethnographic Museum, which was the first in the new capital to feature RC elements, leading the way for many more structures to come. Despite the fact that Turkish and foreign civil engineers faced a series of economic, social, cultural, political, educational and technical challenges during the transition from masonry and timber construction to RC, its adoption was facilitated by the fact that as a European building technology, it became symbolically important to the new republic. Equated with modernity, RC would allow its capital, Ankara, to construct an identity that would contrast with Istanbul, the capital of the Ottoman Empire. This transition would also be catalyzed by the rise of a professional class of Turkish civil engineers who deployed RC to reinforce their authority as trained specialists and agents of modernization.Article Citation - WoS: 11Citation - Scopus: 11Interpretation of Aeromagnetic Data for the Geothermal Properties in the Northwestern Part of Turkey(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2021) Bilim, Funda; Aydemir, Attila; Ates, AbdullahThe northwestern part of Turkey is a significant area for its location on the accretionary region of several micro-continents and blocks. Therefore, there are several suture zones and western segments of the "North Anatolian Fault Zone" are scattered in the study area. Due to trans-tensional stresses, there are several pull-apart basins and/or depressions within the fault zone in the study area. As a consequence, it is also possible to observe magmatic intrusions into the fault segments. All these events and magmatic emplacements in the tectonic framework provide significant magnetic anomalies throughout the region. In this study, geothermal potential of the region is investigated based on the spectral analysis of the magnetic data, together with the seismic velocity (VP) distribution in the area using the log-linear relationship between the seismic velocity and the radiogenic heat production. Although two regions are emerging in the Curie Point Depth (CPD) and geothermal gradient maps, only one anomalous area from Bursa to Tekirdag may be considered as a promising region for the further geothermal energy exploration in the heat-flow maps prepared according to two different thermal conductivity coefficients. Seismic velocities are also low in this anomalous region decreasing down to 6.40 km/s around the shoreline of Tekirdag. Heat-flow values are increasing up to 110 mW/m(2) in this particular area where the CPDs are around 14 km.Article Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 6A Novel Lmi-Based Criterion for the Stability of Direct-Form Digital Filters Utilizing a Single Two's Complement Nonlinearity(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2013) Singh, VimalA criterion for the global asymptotic stability of direct-form digital filters using two's complement arithmetic is presented. The criterion is in the form of a linear matrix inequality (LMI) and, hence, computationally tractable. Splitting the two's complement nonlinearity sector [-1, 1] into two smaller sectors, [0, 1] and [-1, 0], together with using a type of "generalized" sector condition by involving saturation nonlinearity, is the novel feature in the present proof. A special case of the criterion is highlighted. The effectiveness of the present approach is demonstrated by showing its ability to establish the two's complement overflow stability region, in the parameter space, for a second-order digital filter. The humanitarian and economic cost was so enormous, and these earthquakes have changed the Turkish disaster management system and the Turkish people's approach to disasters. Marmara earthquakes are also considered as a milestone in the provision of psychosocial services for disaster victims. This paper aims to review the psychosocial interventions targeting children, adolescents, and their families after the 1999 earthquakes in Turkey. The progression from initial responses to more organized psychosocial interventions is outlined. Conducting the interventions at schools has ensured that thousands of children, teachers, and parents are reached in the most efficient and effective way possible. The significance of the school context in designing psychosocial interventions is highlighted and implications of the lessons learned for traumatic experiences of children and parents are also explored. It is evaluated that these inferences obtained from the Marmara earthquake in Turkey can be used in disasters around the world.Article Citation - WoS: 111Citation - Scopus: 124Oscillation of Second-Order Delay Differential Equations on Time Scales(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2005) Sahiner, Y.By means of Riccati transformation technique, we establish some new oscillation criteria for a second-order delay differential equation on time scales in terms of the coefficients.
