Article Citation - Scopus: 5A Computer-Controlled Triaxial Test Apparatus for Measuring Swelling Characteristics of Reconstituted Clay-Bearing Rock(2008) Bilir,M.E.; Sari,D.; Muftuoglu,Y.V.To avoid problems encountered during and after the construction of engineering projects built within swelling rocks and soils, real data related to swelling stress and strains should be used to model such phenomena. A computer-controlled triaxial swelling test apparatus was developed to determine the swelling potentials for rock and soil specimens. It allows one to measure three-dimensional swelling strains and stress in a cylindrical specimen under variable axial and confinement stress variables. Triaxial swell tests were performed using three different procedures: free swell, strain-controlled, and stress-controlled under different axial and confinement stress conditions. The results of several tests conducted on reconstituted clay-bearing rock samples were statistically analyzed and mathematical models were presented and evaluated. The healthcare employees taking part in the pandemic will eventually be affected by the process. The aim of the study is to determine the levels of the anxiety, depression, and stress of the healthcare employees during the COVID-19 pandemic in Turkey. As the data collection tool, an e-survey was used. In the first section, Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21) was used. In the second section of the survey, the problems experienced by the healthcare employees during the pandemic and their working media were aimed to be defined. In the last section, the socio-demographic features of the employees were investigated. 2076 healthcare employees participated in the study. The results showed that the major cause of the anxiety or stress among healthcare employees comes from the fear to contaminate the COVID-19 virus to their families (86.9%). It was observed that the levels of depression, anxiety and stress of female employees are higher than that of male employees (p < 0.003). The highest depression, anxiety and stress levels of healthcare employees come from the pandemic, emergency, and internal services (p < 0.001). Health managers and policymakers need to make a move immediately to find solutions for the physical and psychological needs of the health employees. On the other hand, in order to minimize the risk, preparation of the work power plans beforehand and inclusion of obligatory referral chain into health services can be suggested.Article Citation - WoS: 9Citation - Scopus: 10Determination of the Relationship Between Uniaxial and Triaxial Swelling Equations for Clay Bearing Rocks(Springer Heidelberg, 2013) Bilir, M. Erdinc; Sari, Y. Dursun; Ozarslan, Ahmet; Genis, Melih; Sel, IbrahimDesign in swelling mediums is mostly based on uniaxial data since the standards proposed by the International Society for Rock Mechanics Commission on Swelling Rocks for uniaxial tests are in the form of recommendations, triaxial sets are not highly available; and there is no standard developed for triaxial tests. The main purpose of this study is to define the relationship between the uniaxial and the triaxial swelling equations and to predict the triaxial values using the uniaxial data. The other purpose of the study is to contribute to the development of the standards and to expand the data available in the literature about triaxial swelling behavior. Numerous uniaxial and triaxial swelling tests were performed on the samples from seven different locations, in Turkey, in a state of the art swelling laboratory. As a result of the determination of the triaxial swelling behavior of these samples, the relationships between the uniaxial and the triaxial swelling data for the individual samples as well as the whole set of samples are expressed by the equations derived from the statistical analyses.Article Citation - Scopus: 1A computer-controlled triaxial swelling test apparatus(2004) Bilir,M.E.; Müftüoǧlu,Y.V.; Sari,D.To avoid the problems encountered during and after the construction of engineering structures built within swelling rocks or soils, data related to swelling stresses and strains should be used in the design stage. For an effective design, it is important that the data used for this purpose should be derived from triaxial swelling tests. In this article, a re-designed and computer-controlled triaxial swelling test apparatus is introduced. Due to the limited amount of test equipment, the work associated with triaxial swelling tests has been rather limited and consequently a test standard has not been developed yet. The computer-controlled triaxial swelling test apparatus has made tedious swelling tests easier and thus it has provided better possibilities for the investigation of the triaxial swelling behavior of soils and rocks.Article Exploring the Intersection of Caregiving Burden, Parenting Stress, and Self-Efficacy in Caregivers of Children Born With Esophageal Atresia(Elsevier Science inc, 2025) Pars, Hatice; Cakir, BanuAims: To examine the relationship between caregiving burden and parenting stress in caregivers of children with esophageal atresia and to identify factors associated with caregiving burden. Additionally, it explores whether self-efficacy mediates this correlation. Design: An analytical cross-sectional study. Methods: Data were collected from 139 caregivers using the Zarit Caregiving Burden Scale (ZCB), Coping Self-Efficacy Scale (CSE), and Parental Stress Scale (PS) between June and October 2023. Statistical analyses included structural equation modeling and logistic regression using IBM SPSS 28.0, SPSS Amos, and Jamovi software. Results: Among the participants, 68.3 % experienced a moderate-to-high caregiving burden. A statistically significant negative correlation was found between ZCB and CSE scores, while a moderate positive correlation was observed between ZCB and PS scores. Parenting stress was associated with caregiving burden; however, self-efficacy did not mediate this relationship. Conclusion: Caregivers, particularly mothers with high parental stress, a history of miscarriage, and a gestational age above 30 weeks, should be prioritized for interventions addressing caregiving burden. Implications for the profession: Assessing caregiving burden and stress in outpatient clinics is critical for effective home care management. Standardized discharge education and psychosocial support should be provided to caregivers to alleviate their burden. Impact: This study fills a research gap regarding caregivers of children with esophageal atresia and provides guidance for healthcare professionals, hospital administrators, and policymakers. Promoting community-based and personal care support services is essential for reducing caregiving burden and parental stress. Reporting method: This study adhered to the STARD guidelines. Patient or public contribution: No patient or public involvement. Saraloglu; Karakaya, Ishak; Konca, ErkanInternal stress in plated deposits has been a common problem that may affect the functionality of coatings. Electrodeposition parameters and insoluble particles modify the characteristics and the level of internal stress of coatings. The influence of the electrocodeposition parameters and their interaction effects on the internal stress during the electrodeposition of Ni and Ni-MoS2 composite coatings were studied by fractional factorial design. The parameters studied and their ranges were: MoS2 particle concentration (0-10 g L-1), temperature (30-50 degrees C), pH (2-4), current density (1.2-4.8 A dm(-2)), and coating thickness (25-50 mu m). MoS2 addition into Watts bath resulted in the decrease in the tensile internal stress values or even changed the stress character from tensile to compressive. Moreover, low stress values were obtained when pH was 2 and coating thickness was 50 mu m.
