Article Citation - WoS: 11Citation - Scopus: 11Exploring Sectoral Diversity in the Timing of Organizational Blockchain Adoption(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, 2022) Turhan, Cigdem; Akman, IbrahimPurpose Blockchain is a relatively new technology. Although it has a high potential to influence organizational strategies for adoption into respective operations, it has not been widely explored yet. This study aims to assess the sectoral diversity in the timing of organizational adoption of blockchain through selected organizational factors. Design/methodology/approach A survey was conducted based on a sample of 208 IT professionals. The data was collected using an instrument containing 17 questions. The existence of sector diversity was statistically analyzed using the Least Square Regression method. Findings The results indicate that, except for management support and perceived ease of use, all the other factors in the analysis significantly influence sector diversity in terms of blockchain adoption timing. Originality/value Although blockchain has received attention from researchers, to the best of the authors' knowledge, there is no published work in the literature that explores the organizational factors influencing sectoral differences in the timing of blockchain technology adoption. Therefore, our work is unique in the related literature since we present analyses for the diversity between public and private sectors by modeling the factors affecting the intentions for the timing of blockchain adoption as part of the organizations' IT infrastructure.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 14A Decentralized Application for Secure Messaging in a Trustless Environment(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2019) Abdulaziz,M.; Culha,D.; Yazici,A.Blockchain technology has been seeing widespread interest as a means to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of data in a trustless environment. For example, blockchain can assist in developing innovative business models throughout the solar photovoltaic energy ecosystem (SPVEE) to improve CE. Ranked fifth in total installed photovoltaic (PV) capacity, Turkey, as a developing country, should take the necessary steps and make progress towards achieving CE in the SPVEE. The solar PV industry requires further innovation to address the negative environmental impact of existing linear business models. To ensure favorable results, identifying and evaluating critical success factors (CSFs) are necessary. However, no study has investigated CSFs for SPVEE or any other renewable energy source to achieve a blockchain-based infrastructure towards increased CE performance. Therefore, the goal of this study is to identify and examine the CSFs to improve the performance of a blockchain-based SPVEE towards CE in Turkey. To this end, first, the CSFs for blockchain-based SPVEE were identified through both a literature review and the Nominal Group Technique (NGT). Then, Intuitionistic Fuzzy (IF)DEMATEL was used to explore their interrelationships based on the expert data. Finally, IF-DELPHI was employed to validate the results. Our findings suggested that effective government incentive programs and regulations are significant for blockchain-based SPVEE towards CE in Turkey. The findings of this study assist macro and micro decision-making in the potential implementation of blockchain in Turkish SPVEE to improve CE. They are also invaluable for other countries and can be used as a reference point. (c) 2021 International Energy Initiative. Published by Elsevier Inc. Much of the attention surrounding blockchain is mainly focused on the technical and organizational aspects. Comparatively, little effort has been targeted towards understanding the attitudinal issues in blockchain adoption. This study aims to explore the role of attitudinal forms behind the intended timing of IT professionals' blockchain adoption, with an emphasis on the differences between the public and private sectors. A survey method was used where the data was collected from 208 IT professionals from public and private sector establishments in order to investigate how the different attitudes of the participants as well as the differences in their work sectors affect their intention to adopt blockchain. The data collected was analysed with ordinal logistic regression and the results indicate that the participants' affective, normative and pessimistic attitudes have a significant effect on the timing of blockchain adoption, and that these effects show differences among the IT professionals from the public and private sector. The findings are believed to provide valuable information to researchers and strategists in forecasting the future evolution of the blockchain technology in terms of individual utilization. The results also will provide feedback to managers of different sectors in making decisions regarding blockchain adoption, developers of blockchain services, as well as individuals who are interested in using blockchain.Article Citation - WoS: 78Citation - Scopus: 115Improving Sustainability in the Tourism Industry Through Blockchain Technology: Challenges and Opportunities(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2022) Erol, Ismail; Neuhofer, Irem Onder; Dogru, Tarik (Dr. True); Oztel, Ahmet; Searcy, Cory; Yorulmaz, Ali C.The tourism industry is extremely important to the world economy; yet, the industry falls short when it comes to economic, social, and environmental issues. Blockchain as an information technology can be utilized to help solve these issues and establish sustainable tourism globally. However, the challenges to blockchain adoption in the tourism industry have not yet been examined systematically. The goal of this study, therefore, is three-fold: we first identify the challenges to blockchain using literature review and expert opinions. Then, we examine them using the proposed rough Interpretive Structural Modeling - Cross-Impact Matrix Multiplication based on expert judgments. Finally, we link these challenges to diffusion of innovation theory. The results suggest that "lack of technical maturity" and "lack of interoperability" are the most important challenges of blockchain in the tourism industry. The findings of the study support macro- and micro-level decision-making in tourism industry's prospective applications of blockchain.Article Citation - Scopus: 4An Empirical Study on the Factors Influencing the Implementation of Blockchain-Based Supply Chain Traceability System(Success Culture Press, 2023) Ahmed,A.M.; Sayar,A.R.Z.Traceability in the supply chain has become more of a priority in recent years. It is important to implement a traceability system that is able to offer accurate information in order to make products, such as food and other goods, safer for consumers. However, there are a number of elements that influence the adoption of traceability systems, and these factors vary in accordance with the economic scale of both companies and the nations in which they are located. This research aims to gain a better understanding of the factors that influence the implementation of a blockchain-based supply chain traceability system in Somalia. A mixed-mode technique has been utilized to collect both quantitative and qualitative data. Structured data from all the major stakeholders has been collected, analyzed, and interpreted. Though Somalia's SMEs are optimistic that a decentralized, low-cost supply chain traceability system can be established, the study's results confirmed that there are no standards or laws governing the supply chain's traceability practices in the country. The findings of this study present scientific data on the factors influencing the implementation of a blockchain-based supply chain traceability system, which are especially important to legislators in their quest of creating laws and regulations that protect consumers, practitioners to understand how to manage the traceability function in a cost-effective manner by employing cutting-edge technology, and academicians to find this study to be of practical use, given there has been very little research done on the topic in the context of Africa and Somalia. © 2023, Success Culture Press.
