Article Citation - WoS: 5Component Importance in Coherent Systems With Exchangeable Components(Cambridge Univ Press, 2015) Eryilmaz, SerkanThis paper is concerned with the Birnbaum importance measure of a component in a binary coherent system. A representation for the Birnbaum importance of a component is obtained when the system consists of exchangeable dependent components. The results are closely related to the concept of the signature of a coherent system. Some examples are presented to illustrate the results.Article Citation - WoS: 13Citation - Scopus: 13Evaluation of procedural and clinical outcomes of transcatheter aortic valve implantation: A single-center experience(Kare Publ, 2020) Karaduman, Bilge Duran; Kayaoğlu, Hüseyin Ayhan; Keleş, Telat; Bozkurt, EnginObjective: Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) is an established alternative to surgical aortic valve replacement. Our study aimed to evaluate the implementation of TAVI at our large-volume center, having an all-comer patient population with short and long-term follow-ups. Methods: This retrospective, single-center analysis included 556 consecutive patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis (AS) who underwent TAVI between July 2011 and December 2019. Results: The mean age of the entire population was 77.6±7.9 years, and 54.9% were women. The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) mean score of the cohort was 6.0%±3.5%. The balloon-expandable valve (Sapien XT, Sapien 3; Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, California) was the most frequently used valves in this cohort (94.6%). Transfemoral access was used in 96.3% of patients. Implantation success was achieved in 96.6% of cases. During the TAVI procedure, 7.2% of patients required permanent pacemaker implantation, with 37.5% in the Lotus valve group needing the most permanent pacemakers. The mean length of hospital stay for the entire cohort was 4.5±2.3 days. Overall, 22 (3.9%) in-hospital deaths occurred before hospital discharge. The mean follow-up period was 15.1±14.9 months for all patients, and a significant improvement was noted in all echocardiographic parameters and functional capacity. Paravalvular leak (PVL) was documented in 18.9% patients, mild in 17.9%, and moderate in 1% at discharge. No cases with severe PVL, necessitating additional procedures. The multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that sex, STS score, baseline SYNTAX score, bicuspid valve morphology, common femoral artery diameter, and post-TAVI PVL were independent predictors of overall mortality. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this study, which is the largest single-center real-world experience of TAVI in Turkey, demonstrated low complication rates with favorable short- and mid-term THV performance in patients undergoing TAVI.Article Citation - WoS: 10Citation - Scopus: 9Cohomology of Sheaves of Frechet Algebras and Spectral Theory(Pleiades Publishing inc, 2005) Dosiev, AAWe propose a holomorpbic functional calculus for a noncommutative operator family generating a supernilpotent Lie subalgebra. However, in the presence of Sr, during melting and holding durations, the oxide structure of the dross may change which leads to several problems during casting operations. In this work, the amount of Sr was changed and the melt was held for 1 h. Reduced Pressure Test (RPT) was used to asses melt quality change and it was found that cleanliness was increased due to the fading of Sr.Article Citation - Scopus: 9Multipath Exploitation in Emitter Localization for Irregular Terrains(Czech Technical University, 2019) Dalveren,Y.; Kara,A.Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems have many operational challenges while locating radar emitter's position around irregular terrains such as islands due to multipath scattering. To overcome these challenges, this paper addresses exploiting multipath scattering in passive localization of radar emitters around irregular terrains. The idea is based on the use of multipath scattered signals as virtual sensor through Geographical Information System (GIS). In this way, it is presented that single receiver (ESM receiver) passive localization can be achieved for radar emitters. The study is initiated with estimating candidate multipath scattering centers over irregular terrain. To do this, ESM receivers' Angle of Arrival (AOA) and Time of Arrival (TOA) information are required for directly received radar pulses along with multipath scattered pulses. The problem then turns out to be multiple-sensor localization problem for which Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA)-based techniques can easily be applied. However, there is high degree of uncertainty in location of candidate multipath scattering centers as the multipath scattering involves diffuse components over irregular terrain. Apparently, this causes large localization errors in TDOA. To reduce this error, a reliability based weighting method is proposed. Simulation results regarding with a simplified 3D model are also presented. © 2019 RADIOENGINEERING.Article Citation - WoS: 11Citation - Scopus: 15A Study on the Performance Evaluation of Wavelet Decomposition in Transient-Based Radio Frequency Fingerprinting of Bluetooth Devices(Wiley, 2022) Almashaqbeh, Hemam; Dalveren, Yaser; Kara, AliRadio frequency fingerprinting (RFF) is used as a physical-layer security method to provide security in wireless networks. Basically, it exploits the distinctive features (fingerprints) extracted from the physical waveforms emitted from radio devices in the network. One of the major challenges in RFF is to create robust features forming the fingerprints of radio devices. Here, dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT) provides an accurate way of extracting those robust features. However, its performance on the RFF of Bluetooth transients which fall into narrowband signaling has not been reported yet. Therefore, this study examines the performance of DT-CWT features on the use of transient-based RFF of Bluetooth devices. Initially, experimentally collected Bluetooth transients from different smartphones are decomposed by DT-CWT. Then, the characteristics and statistics of the wavelet domain signal are exploited to create robust features. Next, the support vector machine (SVM) is used to classify the smartphones. The classification accuracy is demonstrated by varying channel signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and the size of transient duration. Results show that reasonable accuracy can be achieved (lower bound of 88%) even with short transient duration (1024 samples) at low SNRs (0-5 dB).Article Citation - WoS: 15Fixed Point Results for Various Α-Admissible Contractive Mappings on Metric-Like Spaces(Hindawi Ltd, 2014) Al-Mezel, Saleh A.; Chen, Chi-Ming; Karapinar, Erdal; Rakocevic, VladimirWe establish some fixed point theorems for alpha-admissible mappings in the context of metric-like space via various auxiliary functions. In particular, we prove the existence of a fixed point of the generalized Meir-Keeler type alpha-phi-contractive self-mapping.. defined on a metric- like space X. The given results generalize, improve, and unify several fixed point theorems for the generalized cyclic contractive mappings that have appeared recently in the literature.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 4Integrating Family-Centered Care To Child Health and Diseases Nursing Course Via Distance Education(Taylor & Francis inc, 2023) Ozbay, Sevil Cinar; Ozbay, Ozkan; Boztepe, HandanThe aim of this study was to determine the impact of an online Child Health and Diseases Nursing course emphasizing family-centered care upon the perceptions of nursing students toward family-centered care. A statistically significant difference was found between the mean scores of the students' posttest family-centered care attitude and parents' attitude at the end of the training. This study provides insights into family-centered care, which could be used in crafting policies and interventions in nursing education in Turkey. Such insights could foster positive perceptions of family-centered care among student nurses.Article Citation - WoS: 20Citation - Scopus: 24A Study on the Key Soft Skills for Successful Participation of Students in Multinational Engineering Education(Tempus Publications, 2017) Fernandez-Sanz, Luis; Teresa Villalba, Maria; Amelio Medina, Jose; Misra, Sanjay; Computer EngineeringSoft-skills have proved to be a necessary complement to technical skills in today's multinational workplaces. As universities are facing the challenge of promoting internationalization and mobility in students and teachers, they have to decide how to help their students in developing these skills as well as increase their awareness on the cultural differences in multinational settings. After a long trajectory of participation in multinational educational experiences, the authors launched a survey to check if their previous findings on the preferred soft skills by educational experts and managers still remain valid after 5 years. Another goal of the study was the analysis of the link between preference for specific soft skills and cultural background in each country as characterized by Hofstede's indicators. The data collected from 123 experts from 45 different countries have confirmed the existence of a stable core set of preferred soft skills at global level and also for European countries. Results have also shown links between specific cultural indicators and preference for some soft skills.
