These organisations do not have enough resources to implement a rigorous quality plan. It has been established that reviews of various artifacts play a very important role in ensuring the quality of software. Traditional review methods are rigorous and their implementation is cumbersome for SMEs. A new review process which is easy to implement and requires almost no documentation is introduced. It is based on reviewers' efforts to produce high-quality software while minimising the inspection cost. Additionally, people who are conducting this review need not be present at the same place during most phases of the review process. This article investigates the possibilities of sub-Saharan Africa as a sourcing destination in the software field. To find out the reasons why sub-Saharan Africa countries, in general, and Nigeria, in particular, are not considered a destination for global software development projects, the authors interviewed a set of professionals from Europe and Africa. Results indicate that there are many disadvantages and difficulties impeding Nigeria from becoming a preferred sourcing destination, mainly the absence of a strong software industry and the concerns about legislative, fiscal, and commercial premises. Despite the success of agile methods in the software maintenance process, several challenges have been reported. In this study, we investigate the challenges that measure the impact of agile methods in software maintenance in terms of quality factors. A survey was conducted to collect data from agile practitioners to establish their opinions about existing challenges. As a result of the statistical analysis of the data from the survey, it has been observed that there are moderately effective challenges in manageability, scalability, communication, collaboration, and transparency. This study enhances the mechanical performance of devulcanised recycled rubber by reinforcing it with micro glass bubbles (GBs) featuring a density of 0.65 g/cm(3) and an elastic modulus of 3.5 GPa, offering a high strength-to-density ratio. Uniaxial compression tests were conducted on samples with GB volume fractions of 5%, 10%, and 15%. Results were validated through finite element analysis (FEA) in ABAQUS/Standard, incorporating randomised GB distributions. A 2D representative volume element (RVE) with randomly distributed GBs was modelled, applying periodic boundary conditions to simplify the composite into an equivalent homogeneous material. Numerical simulations assessed the effects of GB diameters (30, 40, and 50 mu m) and inclusion size ranges (20-50 mu m and 10-60 mu m), finding minimal impact on results. The RVE, sized at 238 mu m, accurately represented macroscale composite behaviour. Stress-strain behaviour was analysed using average stress and strain tensors. The strong agreement between experimental and numerical results validates the proposed method, demonstrating its accuracy in predicting the mechanical behaviour of the reinforced composite material.Article Translation Movements in the Modernization Processes of Turkey and China(Department of Applied Linguistics, Translators and Interpreters, University of Antwerp, 2022) Bayraktar-Özer,Ö.The migration of knowledge between cultures is ubiquitous, whether it happens naturally on encountering communities or is consciously planned by authorities to learn from one another. As nations constantly share their scientific and philosophical knowledge with others, translation takes on a key role in the transmission of not only knowledge, but also the advancement of all aspects of the source culture. In this respect, the Qing and Ottoman empires, after experiencing military defeats, were able to recognise the progress made by certain nations as a result of the Industrial Revolution. The knowledge transfer from these industrialized countries therefore became part of the attempts by states, private institutions and reformers to catch up with these countries in the area of development through increased translation initiatives. Trends such as these subsequently continued to shape the culture-planning processes in many countries. Against this background, the present study aims to shine a light on the parallel course of translation movements in the modernization processes of China and Turkey from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century. Studies have shown the importance of teamwork ability as the main skill for software professionals both in local settings and in global software development. Teamwork performance can be evaluated according to different approaches but we need deeper analysis within software teams of differences in individuals' performance related to culture, nationality or even gender. We applied a simple evaluation experience named teamwork benefits awareness (TBA) to groups of last-year students of computing degrees with experience as junior IT professionals during intensive multinational workshops based on international software projects. TBA allowed to measure individual and team performance during a requirements analysis session based on a real project. Results segmented by nationality and gender are presented and analysed in comparison with the data collected from computing professionals in local settings. In general, no significant differences have been found out although interesting relations are suggested with two Hofstede's country indicators. In this study, it was aimed to determine the teamwork attitudes of nurses, their conflicts with their colleagues, their job satisfaction, to determine whether these variables differ according to the socio-demographic characteristics of the nurses, and to reveal the relationships between these variables. The data in the study were obtained from 253 nurses working in the Children’s Hospital of Ankara City Hospital using a questionnaire method. The main results of this work are: (1) A necessary and sufficient condition on an infinite metric space M, under which the transportation cost space on M contains an isometric copy of l(1). The obtained condition is applied to answer the open questions asked by Cuth and Johanis (2017) concerning several specific metric spaces. (2) The description of the transportation cost space of a weighted finite graph G as the quotient l(1) (E(G))/Z(G), where E(G) is the edge set and Z(G) is the cycle space of G. (C) 2020 Elsevier Inc.
