    Çalışan Destek Programı ve Çalışanların Moral ve Verimliliğindeki Rolü Üzerine Bir Araştırma

    Çalışan Destek Programı, çalışmayı etkileyen sorunlara ve sorunların çözümüne yardımcı olur. Bu konular sadece çalışma ortamı sorunları değildir. Çalışan Yardımı Programları, çalışanların ilişki sorunları, ayrılık ve kayıp, aile içi şiddet ve finansal sorunlar gibi sorunlarını anlamalarına ya da aşmalarına yardımcı olmak için tasarlanmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Çalışan Destek Programı'nı (ÇDP) ve çalışanların moral ve üretkenliği üzerindeki rolünü incelemektir. Bu amaçla, bu çalışma Çalışanlara Destek Programı ile ilgili tanım ve temel bilgiler başlamıştır. Sonra, amaç Çalışanlara Sağlanan Destek Programı'nın Çalışanlara Yönelik Moral ve Verimlilik üzerindeki etkilerini anlamaktır. Veriler yüz yüze görüşmeler yoluyla toplanmıştır. Araştırma ve görüşmeler boyunca araştırmacı, Çalışan Destek Programı'nın bir kuruluş veya şirket için çok faydalı olabileceğini tespit etmiştir. Bu program, çalışanlara birçok farklı şekilde fayda sağlar. Bu araştırmanın ana bulguları, bir kurumdaki iki önemli unsur olan çalışanların moral ve üretkenliğine işaret etmektedir. Görüşmelerden sonra yöneticilerin görüşleri NVIVO 12 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularından sonra cevaplar on iki ana tema altında yazılmıştır ve bu temalar alt temalarla takip edilmiştir. Görüşülen kişilerden zaman kısıtlaması nedeniyle, araştırma mümkün olduğu kadar etkili bir şekilde yürütülmeye çalışılmıştır. Ancak, Çalışan Destek Program'da gizlilik çok önemli olduğu için, Çalışan Destek Programı'ndan yararlanan çalışanlara başvuruda bulunulmamıştır.

    Component Importance in Coherent Systems With Exchangeable Components

    This paper is concerned with the Birnbaum importance measure of a component in a binary coherent system. A representation for the Birnbaum importance of a component is obtained when the system consists of exchangeable dependent components. The results are closely related to the concept of the signature of a coherent system. Some examples are presented to illustrate the results.

    Understanding Key Skills for Information Security Managers

    Information security management is a necessity for all institutions and enterprises that regard company information as valuable assets. Developing, auditing and managing information security depends upon professional expertise in order to achieve the desired information security governance. This research seeks the key skills required for the position of information security management as well as the methods to develop these skills through professional training programs. The study adopts the Delphi method which requires building a list of items through a literature survey and involves experts with certain expertise to modify the list until a consensus on less than 20% of the items is reached. Through completing three rounds of the Delphi technique - data collection, relevance voting and ranking sixteen skills are shortlisted as the key skills. In the final list, the majority belong to core information security skills, and the top two skills belong to project/process management skills and risk management skills, indicating the importance of these skills for the information security manager role. In addition, a series of related professional training programs and certifications are surveyed, the outcome of which highlights a number of most comprehensive and appropriate programs to develop these determined skills.

    Bu çalışmada Fourier denklemi ile ifade edilen ısı transferi problemlerinin bir ya da daha fazla bölgesinde tanımlı doğrusal olmayan sınır koşulları altında çözümüne yönelik sınır eleman yöntemi tabanlı etkili bir sayısal çözüm sunulmaktadır. Çözüm, sınır eleman yöntemi sistem matrislerinin üzerinde yapılan matematiksel işlemler ile bilinmeyenleri sadece doğrusal olmayan sınır bölgesindeki sıcaklık farkı olan indirgenmiş matris denklemleri elde etmektedir. Bu sayede doğrusal olmayan sınır koşullarına dayalı iterasyonlar daha hızlı gerçekleştirilebilmektedir. Doğrusal olmayan sınır koşullarının tanımlı olduğu bölgelerde çözüm elde edildikten sonra tüm sınır çözümü tanımlı bir son-işlem ile gerçekleştirilebilmektedir. Gerçek çözümü elde edilmiş bir örnek kullanılarak elde edilen sonuçlar değerlendirilmiştir.

    People all over the world increasingly are concerned about the privacy issues surrounding the personal information collected by private organizations, governments and employers. Privacy relates to issues regarding collection, secure transmission, storage, authorized access, usage, and disclosure of personal information. This information is used for commercial gain by many organizations. Individual privacy concerns significantly affects consumer willingness to engage in electronic commerce over the Internet. The increased use of the Internet and Web for everyday activities is bringing new threats to personal privacy. This chapter assessed various issues related to individual privacy on the Web, growing concerns among the Web users, technologies employed for collecting and protecting information on the Web, privacy-enhancing technologies and the legal provisions to curb the Web privacy. This chapter also reported detailed discussion about Platform for Privacy Preferences (P3P), its structure, present scenario of its implementation and its future success. Global consistency on Internet privacy protection is important to promote the growth of electronic commerce. To protect consumers in a globally consistent manner, legislation, self-regulation, technical solutions and combination solutions are different ways that can be implemented. © 2008, IGI Global.

    Evolution of the Relationship Between Urban Planning and Urban Infrastructure

    In the face of disasters caused by climate change and ecological degradation, the future of cities has become closely interrelated with the sensitive balance between urban planning and urban infrastructure. Integrated sustainable urban planning and management approaches, where the relationship between urban planning and urban infrastructure is re-examined to manage urban risks, manage the capacity of existing infrastructure, and adapt to climate change have been discussed for a long time. Particularly in the last 2 to 3 decades, in various countries and for different reasons, urban planning and urban infrastructure investments have diverged. Under the influence of neo-liberal policies, the urban planning process has often been transformed into a mechanism of re-distributing urban rents via urban projects, and urban infrastructure investments are presented to society as mega projects to help legitimize the effects of this transformation politically. This dissociation results in an inefficient and ineffective use of resources, a negative effect on the urban ecosystem, and an urban daily life that is fragile and disrupted. The development of a framework that re-integrates planning with infrastructure is an inevitable necessity.

    Skeletonization-based beam finite element models for stochastic bicontinuous materials: Application to simulations of nanoporous gold

    An efficient representative volume element generation strategy is developed in modeling nanoporous materials. It uses periodic 3D beam finite element (FE) models derived from skeletonization of spinodal-like stochastic microstructures produced by a leveled random field. To mimic stiffening with agglomeration of the mass at junctions, an increased Young's modulus is assigned to the elements within the junction zone. The effective Young's modulus, Poisson's ratio, and universal anisotropy index are computed. A good agreement of the Young's modulus predictions with those obtained from experimental results for phase volume fractions 0.20 < phi(B) < 0.50 is observed. Moreover, the elastic anisotropy index of the generated beam networks shows sufficient proximity to isotropy. Finally, it is demonstrated that, as compared to the simulation statistics of voxel-FE models, for the beam-FE models over 500-fold computational acceleration with 250-fold less memory requirement is provided.

    Application of Minimum Quantity Lubrication Techniques in Machining Process of Titanium Alloy for Sustainability: a Review

    Recently, the manufacturing sector is increasingly keen to apply sustainability at all levels of sustainability from system to products and processes. At the processes level, cutting fluids (CFs) are among the most unsustainable materials and need to be addressed properly in accordance with three main and decisive aspects, also known as the triple bottom line: ecology, society, and economics. Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) is a promising technique that minimizes the use of CFs, thus improving sustainability. This paper presents a review of the literature available on the use of the MQL technique during different machining processes involving titanium alloys (Ti-6Al-4V). To carry out the study, four search engines were used to focus on the most cited articles published over a span of 17years from 2000 to 2016. The performance and drawbacks are compiled for each eco-friendly technique: dry, MQL, and cryogenics with combinations of MQL and cryogenics, critically considering machining parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, and output measures, namely surface roughness, tool life, and cutting temperature. After drawing conclusions from critical evaluation of research body, future research avenues in the field are proposed for the academics and industry.

    The Effect of Uncertainty on Learning in Game-Like Environments

    Considering the role of games for educational purposes, there has an increase in interest among educators in applying strategies used in popular games to create more engaging learning environments. Learning is more fun and appealing in digital educational games and, as a result, it may become more effective. However, few research studies have been conducted to establish principles based on empirical research for designing engaging and entertaining games so as to improve learning. One of the essential characteristics of games that has been unexplored in the literature is the concept of uncertainty. This study examines the effect of uncertainty on learning outcomes. In order to better understand this effect on learning, a game-like learning tool was developed to teach a database concept in higher education programs of software engineering. The tool is designed in two versions: one including uncertainty and the other including no uncertainty. The experimental results of this study reveal that uncertainty enhances learning. Uncertainty is found to be positively associated with motivation. As motivation increases, participants tend to spend more time on answering the questions and to have higher accuracy in these questions. (C) 2013 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

    FİLMLERDE ÜLKE İMAJI: “HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING” FİLMİ ÜZERİNE BIR İNCELEME

    Film ülkelere ilişkin imajları yaymak için kullanılan araçlardan birisidir. Bugüne kadar yapılan araştırmalar, Hollywood filmlerinde Arap imajının olumsuz tasvir edildiğine dair genel bir anlayışı ortaya koymaktadır. Ancak, “Kral için Hologram” filmi Suudi Arabistan’ının ve halkının hem olumsuz hem de olumlu yönlerine odaklanarak daha gerçekçi ve daha az önyargılı bir yaklaşım sergilemektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Suudi Arabistan ve halkının bir Hollywood filmi olan “Kral için Hologram” filmindeki temsilini incelemektir. Çalışmada içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları, filmdeki ülke imajına ilişkin görsellerin toplam süresinin 28.9 dakika olduğunu göstermiştir. Ülkenin politik ve sosyal niteliği ve ülkenin kapasitesi / yeterliğine ilişkin imajlar en yüksek yüzdeye sahip olarak bulunmuştur. Bu sonuç filmlerin ülke imajı için önemli bir iletişim aracı olduğunu göstermektedir.
