Conference Object Need for a Software Development Methodology for Research-Based Software Projects(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2018) Cereci,I.; Karakaya,Z.Software development is mostly carried by a group of individuals. Software development methodologies are heavily utilized to organize these individuals and keep track of the entire software development process. Although previously proposed software development methodologies meet the needs of the industry and the firms, they are not usually suitable for research-based software projects that are carried by universities and individual researchers. In this paper, we aim to show the necessity of a new software development methodology for research-based problems carried by universities. The literature review will show the differences between industry and university software projects from certain aspects. These findings will be supported by the authors own research on the area. This qualitative research involves collecting data through interviews and applying Grounded Theory to better understand the development process. © 2018 IEEE.Article Mobil Destekli Dil Öğrenmede Podcast Kullanımı: Öğretici Merkezli Yoğun Dinleme ve Mobil Kapsamlı Dinleme(2019) Şendağ, Serkan; Gedik, Nuray; Caner, Mustafa; Toker, SacipMobil Destekli Dil Öğrenme (MODDÖ)’nin zamandan ve mekandan bağımsız esnek yapısının öğrenmeyi destekleyeceği ileri sürülmektedir. Bu bağlamda, bu çalışmanın amacı (MODDÖ)’nün mobil ortamda kapsamlı-dinleme (extensive-listening) ile birlikte işe koşulduğunda öğretici-merkezli ve yoğun-dinlemenin (intensive-listening) uygulandığı gruba göre etkililiğini araştırmaktır. Çalışmada denkleştirilmemiş-grup yarı-deneysel araştırma deseninden yararlanılarak “öğretici-merkezli yoğun-dinleme (N=29)” ve “mobil kapsamlı-dinleme (N=30)” olmak üzere iki farklı yabancı dil olarak İngilizce dil becerisi geliştirme yöntemi karşılaşmıştır. Yapılan deneyde, katılımcıların dinleme, konuşma ve eleştirel düşünme becerileri ile dinleme stratejilerini geliştirmede hangi yöntemin daha etkili olduğu toplanan nicel veriler ile ortaya çıkartılmaya çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca her iki gruptaki katılımcıların sürece yönelik görüşleri yarı yapılandırmış görüşme formları kullanılarak alınmış ve değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre öğretici-merkezli yoğun-dinlemenin katılımcıların dinleme becerilerini geliştirmede mobil kapsamlı-dinlemeye göre daha olumlu ve istatistiksel açıdan önemli bir etkisinin olduğu diğer değişkenler açısından gruplar arasında istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir değişmenin olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Çalışma bağlamındaki sınırlılıklar göz önünde bulundurularak öğretici-merkezli yoğun-dinlemenin mobil kapsamlı-dinlemeye göre yabancı dil olarak İngilizce dinleme becerilerini artırmada daha etkili olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.Article Kurumsal açık arşivlerin etkin kullanımı: Türkiye'deki bilimsel elektronik yayıncıların görüşleri(2010) Ertürk, Korhan Levent; Küçük, M. Emin1990’lı yıllardan itibaren açık erişim ile ilgili uluslararası düzeyde çalışma ve etkinlikler yapılmış, elektronik yayıncılık modelleri gözden geçirilmiş, üniversite ve bilimsel araştırma kurumlarında kurumsal açık arşivler yapılandırılmıştır. Bilimsel iletişimin en önemli paydaşları olan bilim insanları, bilimsel çalışmalarını Web sayfalarında ve/veya kurumsal açık arşivlerde depolamaya ya da açık erişimli dergilerde yayınlamaya başlamışlardır. Bu çalışma Türkiye’deki bilimsel iletişimin paydaşlarından olan bilimsel elektronik yayıncıların açık erişim farkındalığını belirlemek, kurumsal açık arşivlerin etkin kullanımı konusunda yayıncıların görüşlerini ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Veriler, 101 yayıncıdan anket yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Bulgulara göre yayıncıların büyük bir bölümü (%72) açık erişim farkındalığını edinmiş görünmektedir. Yayıncılar, büyük çoğunlukla (%97) yazarlarının makalelerini kişisel veya kurumsal Web sayfa/sitelerinde herhangi bir zaman diliminde yayınlanmasını destek vermekte. yazarlarının kurumlarında kurumsal açık arşiv yapılandırılması durumunda eserlerinin orijinal sürümü ile konulmasına izin vermektedirler. Size is used for a variety of purposes, such as benchmarking, normalization, and portfolio measurement, and it is frequently considered as the sole input of estimation. Estimations can be produced for various reasons; e.g., to predict effort, cost and duration of software development projects. There are different types of software size measures. Particularly in projects where agile methodologies are adopted, measurement becomes a significant challenge as it is perceived as a non-value-added task and records of tasks such as requirements identification are not always consistent. The difficulties of applying traditional size measurement techniques in agile contexts, however, do not diminish the need, and new methods and techniques are introduced to improve the manageability of the agile projects. In this paper, we discuss estimation and measurement approaches in relation with ―software size in agile contexts. Based on this review, we present the perceptions of software size and related challenges, such as misinterpretation of size, difficulties in implementation, and acceptability of the measurement processes. We anticipate that providing a baseline for the state of software size measures in agile contexts and presenting related challenges, particularly in terms of its acceptability by practitioners can shed light on the development of new techniques. © 2018 CEUR-WS. The starting point of this study is the recognition of a big gap between the sector need of specialists in DL technology and the lack of sufficient education provided by the universities. Higher education institutions are the best environment to provide this expertise to the students. However, currently most universities do not provide specifically designed DL courses to their students. Thus, the main objective of this study is to design a novel curriculum including two courses to facilitate teaching and learning of DL topic. In this paper, two inheritance metrics based on cognitive complexity, one at class level CCI (Class Complexity due to Inheritance) and another at program level ACI (Average Complexity of a program due to Inheritance), have been proposed for object-oriented software systems. The analyses show that higher order cumulants can be employed as a feature in voiced-unvoiced classification that is vital in speech processing applications. Furthermore, it has been shown that cumulants are also useful for identifying voiced and unvoiced segments in noisy speech signals.
