A characteristic skeletal phenotype is one of the many clinical manifestationsof ML-II. Since the mechanisms underlying these skeletal defects in ML-II are not completely understood, we hypothesized that adefect in osteogenic differentiation of ML-II bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BM-MSCs) might be responsible for this skeletalphenotype. Here, we assessed and characterized the cellular phenotype of BM-MSCs from a ML-II patient before (BBMT) and afterBM transplantation (ABMT), and we compared the results with BM-MSCs from a carrier and a healthy donor. Morphologically, wedid not observe differences in ML-II BBMT and ABMT or carrier MSCs in terms of size or granularity. Osteogenic differentiation wasnot markedly affected by disease or carrier status. Adipogenic differentiation was increased in BBMT ML-II MSCs, but chondrogenicdifferentiation was decreased in both BBMT and ABMT ML-II MSCs. Immunophenotypically no significant differences were observedbetween the samples. Interestingly, the proliferative capacity of BBMT and ABMT ML-II MSCs was increased in comparison to MSCsfrom age-matched healthy donors. In this article, the challenges faced by Turkestani nationalist leaders who had left their fatherland after the Bolshevik invasion of their country are examined. The activities of émigré leaders and pan-Turkists like Zeki Velidî Togan, Mustafa Çokayoğlu, Osman Hoca and Nihal Atsız are illustrated in some detail. Special attention is given to policy formation, propaganda tactics, the use of media (mainly by publishing periodicals), and the organization of NGOs with the mission of setting and uniting the public (in diaspora) against Russian invasion. It is hoped that this discussion will enable researchers to make better assessments of the past and intelligent projections for the future. Yazara göre İstanbul’dan başka çok az şehir bu imgenin yaratığı derin melankoli duygusuna aynı ölçüde eşlik eden mutluluğa sahiptir. Makale romandaki melankoli yüklü İstanbul imgesini yaratırken yazara ilham veren kaynakları araştırmıştır. Görülüyor ki yazarın romanda da minnettarlığını sıkça ifade ettiği başlıca dört yazar Pamuk’un hafızasında yer eden İstanbul hatıralarını biçimlendirmiştir. Bu yazarlardan ilk ikisi Yahya Kemal Beyatlı ve Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar’dır ve her ikisi de Fransız yazarlar Gerard de Nerval ve Theophile Gautier’in İstanbul izlenimlerinden etkilenmişlerdir. Özellikle Gautier’in Constantinople başlıklı gezi yazıları Yahya Kemal ve Tanpınar’ı derinden etkilemiş ve bu yazarların İstanbullular için farklı ve yerli bir İstanbul imgesi yaratmalarını sağlamıştır. Bu şehir imgesini farklı ve özgün kılan, güzel olanla, biçimsiz, sefil ve acınası olanın bir araya gelerek oluşturduğu melankoli duygusunun, çökmüş bir imparatorluğun kalıntıları üzerinde yükselerek şehre hâkim olmasıdır. Romanda esinlendiği yazarların adımlarını takip eden Pamuk bir yandan da yirminci yüzyıl İstanbul’unda meydana gelen kültürel, sosyal, siyasi ve çevresel değişimlerle iç içe geçen kendi çocukluk ve ilk gençlik dönemlerini hikâye etmiştir. Makalenin kuramsal çerçevesini Freud, Kristeva ve Peter Schwenger gibi yazarların görüşleri oluşturmuştur.Article Citation - Scopus: 2A New Formulation for the Boundary Element Analysis of Heat Conduction Problems With Nonlinear Boundary Conditions;(Turk Isı Bilimi ve Teknigi Dernegi, 2019) Baranoğlu,B.An effective numerical method based on the boundary element formulation is presented to solve heat conduction equations which are governed by the Fourier equation, with nonlinear boundary conditions on one or more sections of the prescribed boundary. The solution involves the manipulation of the system matrices of the boundary element method and obtaining a smaller ranked matrix equation in which the unknown is only the temperature difference over the nonlinear boundary condition region. This way, the iterations to deal with the nonlinear conditions are performed faster. After finding the solution over the nonlinear boundary condition region, the solution over the entire boundary is obtained as a post-process through a prescribed relation. The scattering mechanism at the junction of these half-planes is investigated via the Fourier transform technique, which leads to two coupled Wiener - Hopf equations. The solution of the Wiener - Hopf system is obtained by the Daniele - Khrapkov method and some numerical results are presented about the analysis of the scattered field.Article Variations in Chemical Composition of Some Steels During Continuous Casting(Springer, 2012) Keskinkilic, E.In this study, chemical composition variations of some steels during continuous casting were investigated in Eregli Iron and Steel Works Co. (ERDEMIR), Turkey. Final chemical analysis of a heat is determined in the continuous casting stage. Three steel specimens are regularly taken from the mould at certain meters of slab strand for each heat. The aim of this work was to evaluate the extent of changes in chemical analysis along the slab strand. Consequently, the leading aim of this study was to determine whether the number of specimens taken for each heat could be decreased without compromising quality control of the continuous casting. This was accomplished for some low-carbon, ultra-low carbon, and structural steels, which constitute the majority part of the ERDEMIR product range. The results revealed that the number of specimens could only be decreased for a limited number of steels and under certain circumstances.Article A New Model for Indoor Propagation Prediction Using Genetic Algorithm(Ieice-inst Electronics information Communications Eng, 2008) Aydin, ElifIn this study, a new, simple and accurate computation of the received signal strength (RSS) level for indoor environment is performed. The genetic algorithm (GA) approach is used for prediction of the RSS. The proposed model is formed on the knowledge of measurements without requiring any detail of the environment. The model provides a time efficient method to estimate RSS dynamically at any location in the test environment. Emin1990’lı yıllardan itibaren açık erişim ile ilgili uluslararası düzeyde çalışma ve etkinlikler yapılmış, elektronik yayıncılık modelleri gözden geçirilmiş, üniversite ve bilimsel araştırma kurumlarında kurumsal açık arşivler yapılandırılmıştır. Bilimsel iletişimin en önemli paydaşları olan bilim insanları, bilimsel çalışmalarını Web sayfalarında ve/veya kurumsal açık arşivlerde depolamaya ya da açık erişimli dergilerde yayınlamaya başlamışlardır. Bu çalışma Türkiye’deki bilimsel iletişimin paydaşlarından olan bilimsel elektronik yayıncıların açık erişim farkındalığını belirlemek, kurumsal açık arşivlerin etkin kullanımı konusunda yayıncıların görüşlerini ortaya çıkarmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Veriler, 101 yayıncıdan anket yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Bulgulara göre yayıncıların büyük bir bölümü (%72) açık erişim farkındalığını edinmiş görünmektedir. Yayıncılar, büyük çoğunlukla (%97) yazarlarının makalelerini kişisel veya kurumsal Web sayfa/sitelerinde herhangi bir zaman diliminde yayınlanmasını destek vermekte. yazarlarının kurumlarında kurumsal açık arşiv yapılandırılması durumunda eserlerinin orijinal sürümü ile konulmasına izin vermektedirler. Sonuç olarak, ülkemizde, kısa bir zaman aralığında kurumsal açık arşivlerde bilimsel içerik arşivlenmesi gerçekleştirilebilecek, işlevselliklerinde artış sağlanabilecektir.
