Article Citation - WoS: 12Citation - Scopus: 12Mutual Correlation of Nist Statistical Randomness Tests and Comparison of Their Sensitivities on Transformed Sequences(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2017) Doganaksoy, Ali; Sulak, Fatih; Uguz, Muhiddin; Seker, Okan; Akcengiz, ZiyaRandom sequences are widely used in many cryptographic applications and hence their generation is one of the main research areas in cryptography. Statistical randomness tests are introduced to detect the weaknesses or nonrandom characteristics that a sequence under consideration may have. In the literature, there exist various statistical randomness tests and test suites, defined as a collection of tests. An efficient test suite should consist of a number of uncorrelated statistical tests each of which measures randomness from another point of view. `Being uncorrelated' is not a well-defined or well-understood concept in the literature. In this work, we apply Pearson's correlation test to measure the correlation between the tests. In addition, we define five new methods for transforming a sequence. Our motivation is to detect those tests whose results are invariant under a certain transformation. To observe the correlation, we use two methods. One is the direct correlation between the tests and the other is the correlation between the results of a test on the sequence and its transformed form. In light of the observations, we conclude that some of the tests are correlated with each other. Furthermore, we conclude that in designing a reliable and efficient suite we can avoid overpopulating the list of test functions by employing transformations together with a reasonable number of statistical test functions.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 3Spectral Approach To Derive the Representation Formulae for Solutions of the Wave Equation(Hindawi Publishing Corporation, 2012) Guseinov, Gusein Sh.Using spectral properties of the Laplace operator and some structural formula for rapidly decreasing functions of the Laplace operator, we offer a novel method to derive explicit formulae for solutions to the Cauchy problem for classical wave equation in arbitrary dimensions. Among them are the well-known d'Alembert, Poisson, and Kirchhoff representation formulae in low space dimensions.Article Health Beliefs and Attitudes: a Comparison Between Turkey and Palestine(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2018) Menawi, Wafaa Allam; Tengilimoglu, Dilaver; Dziegielewski, Sophia F.The purpose of this study is to identify the beliefs and attitudes that influence health-related behavior while comparing two countries that can have different political and economic structures. This study also gathers both Turkish and Palestinian citizens' beliefs and attitudes towards health determinants. To assess and compare citizens' attitudes toward health care and health determinants a total of 4,100 questionnaires were distributed, whereas 2,600 were distributed in Turkey, and another 1,500 questionnaires in the Palestine. According to the research, the individuals surveyed in Turkey noted that smoking, stress, and getting access to a medical institution were noted as the most influential determinants which affect their health; whereas, the people of Palestine thought that income status, and educational levels were the most influential factors in health. In addition, it was found that there were some statistically significant differences between participants' responses in Turkey and Palestine; however, what both samples shared was that economic factors were an important factor affecting health beliefs and attitudes, regardless of where a participant lived. Finally, comparisons and future recommendations are made to improve health-related beliefs, attitudes and behaviors in both countries.Article Citation - WoS: 21Citation - Scopus: 23Best Proximity Points of Generalized Almost Ψ-Geraghty Contractive Non-Self(Springer international Publishing Ag, 2014) Aydi, Hassen; Karapinar, Erdal; Erhan, Inci M.; Salimi, PeymanIn this paper, we introduce the new notion of almost psi-Geraghty contractive mappings and investigate the existence of a best proximity point for such mappings in complete metric spaces via the weak P-property. We provide an example to validate our best proximity point theorem. The obtained results extend, generalize, and complement some known fixed and best proximity point results from the literature.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 2Performance of Ge-Sandwiched Gase Layers(Springer, 2018) Qasrawi, A. F.; Qasrawı, Atef Fayez Hasan; Abdallah, Maisam M. A.; Qasrawı, Atef Fayez Hasan; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; Department of Electrical & Electronics EngineeringIn the current work, we report the effect of sandwiching Ge between two stacked layers of GaSe. The GaSe and Ge-sandwiched GaSe were subjected to x-ray diffraction, optical spectrophotometry and impedance spectroscopy measurement and analysis. The presence of a Ge layer between two layers of GaSe was observed to cause uniform deformation and increase the absorption of light by GaSe. The response of the dielectric constant to incident light was also significantly enhanced by Ge sandwiching. In addition, Drude-Lorentz modeling of the imaginary part of the dielectric constant revealed that the layer of Ge layer between GaSe layers increased the drift mobility from 30.76 cm(2)/Vs to 52.49 cm(2)/Vs. It also enhanced the plasmon frequency without altering the free carrier density. Moreover, Ge improved the band filtering features of GaSe. In particular, it enhanced the sensitivity of the impedance response to the incident signal and increased the return loss factor of GaSe when it was used as a high band pass filter.Review Citation - WoS: 16Citation - Scopus: 20Assessing the Coverage of E-Health Services in Sub-Saharan Africa a Systematic Review and Analysis(Georg Thieme verlag Kg, 2017) Adeloye, Davies; Adigun, Taiwo; Misra, Sanjay; Omoregbe, NicholasBackground: E-Health has attracted growing interests globally. The relative lack of facilities, skills, funds and information on existing e-Health initiatives has affected progress on e-Health in Africa. Objectives: To review publicly available literature on e-Health in sub-Saharan Africa (sSA) towards providing information on existing and ongoing e-Health initiatives in the region. Methods: Searches of relevant literature were conducted on Medline, EMBASE and Global Health, with search dates set from 1990 to 2016. We included studies on e-Health initiatives (prototypes, designs, or completed projects) targeting population groups in sSA. Results: Our search returned 2322 hits, with 26 studies retained. Included studies were conducted in 14 countries across the four sub-regions in sSA (Central, East, South and West) and spreading over a 12-year period, 2002-2014. Six types of e-Health interventions were reported, with 17 studies (65%) based on telemedicine, followed by mHealth with 5 studies (19%). Other e-Health types include expert system, electronic medical records, e-mails, and online health module. Specific medical specialties covered include dermatology (19%), pathology (12%) and radiology (8%). Successes were 'widely reported' (representing 50% overall acceptance or positive feedbacks in a study) in 10 studies (38%). The prominent challenges reported were technical problems, poor inter net and connectivity, participants' selection biases, contextual issues, and lack of funds. Conclusion: E-Health is evolving in sSA, but with poorly published evidence. While we call for more quality research in the region, it is also important that population-wide policies and on-going e-Health initiatives are contextually feasible, acceptable, and sustainable.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 4Fixed Point Theorems for Generalized Weak Contractions Satisfying Rational Expression on a Ordered Partial Metric Space(Maik Nauka/interperiodica/springer, 2013) Karapinar, Erdal; Marudai, M.; Pragadeeswarar, V.The purpose of this manuscript is to present a fixed point theorem using a generalized weak contraction condition of rational type in the context of partial metric spaces.Article Citation - WoS: 9Citation - Scopus: 9Existence and Uniqueness of Best Proximity Points Under Rational Contractivity Conditions(Walter de Gruyter Gmbh, 2016) Karapinar, Erdal; Roldan-Lopez-de-Hierro, Antonio-Francisco; Sadarangani, KishinThe main aim of this paper is to present some theorems in order to guarantee existence and uniqueness of best proximity points under rational contractivity conditions using very general test functions. To illustrate the variety of possible test functions, we include some examples of pairs of functions which are included in innovative papers published in the last years. As a consequence, we prove that our results unify and extend some recent results in this field.Article Citation - WoS: 22Citation - Scopus: 23On Residual Lifetime of Coherent Systems After the rth Failure(Springer, 2013) Eryilmaz, SerkanIn this article we study the residual lifetime of a coherent system after the rth failure, i.e. the time elapsed from the rth failure until the system failure given that the system operates at the time of the rth failure. We provide a mixture representation for the corresponding residual lifetime distribution in terms of signature. We also obtain some stochastic ordering results for the residual lifetimes.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Synthesis and Characterization of New Dithienosilole Based Copolymers(Electrochemical Soc inc, 2016) Karabay, Lutfiye Canan; Al-Jumaili, Mohammed; Cihaner, Atilla2-Ethylhexyl substituted dithienosilole based soluble polymers including thiophene (1) and bithiophene (2) units were synthesized via Stille coupling reaction. The presence of 2-ethylhexyl substituents on the silole ring gave solubility property to the polymers in common solvents. According to gel permeation chromatography measurements, the weight average molecular weights of the polymers 1 and 2 were found to be as 70,977 with a polydispersity index of 2.30 and 110,439 with a PDI of 1.42, respectively. Fluorescent polymers in toluene solution have maximum emisssion bands at 634 nm for the polymer 1 and 613 nm for the polymer 2. Chemical and electrochemical doping of the polymers in the solution and in the film forms were monitored by using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopic technique. The polymers exhibited chromic (chemochromic and electrochromic) properties. While the colors of the neutral polymer films are purple for the polymer 1 and reddish brown for the polymer 2, both polymers are transparent sky blue at their oxidized states. The bandgaps of polymers in film forms were calculated as 1.81 eV for the polymer 1 and 1.92 eV for the polymer 2. Also, electrochromic device applications of the polymers were done. Electrochemical and optical behaviors of the polymers demonstrated that they can be good candidates for optoelectronic applications. (C) 2016 The Electrochemical Society. All rights reserved.
