Review Citation - WoS: 1Evolution of the Relationship Between Urban Planning and Urban Infrastructure(Kare Publ, 2018) Sahin, Savas ZaferIn the face of disasters caused by climate change and ecological degradation, the future of cities has become closely interrelated with the sensitive balance between urban planning and urban infrastructure. Integrated sustainable urban planning and management approaches, where the relationship between urban planning and urban infrastructure is re-examined to manage urban risks, manage the capacity of existing infrastructure, and adapt to climate change have been discussed for a long time. Particularly in the last 2 to 3 decades, in various countries and for different reasons, urban planning and urban infrastructure investments have diverged. Under the influence of neo-liberal policies, the urban planning process has often been transformed into a mechanism of re-distributing urban rents via urban projects, and urban infrastructure investments are presented to society as mega projects to help legitimize the effects of this transformation politically. This dissociation results in an inefficient and ineffective use of resources, a negative effect on the urban ecosystem, and an urban daily life that is fragile and disrupted. The development of a framework that re-integrates planning with infrastructure is an inevitable necessity.Review Citation - WoS: 57Citation - Scopus: 65Application of Minimum Quantity Lubrication Techniques in Machining Process of Titanium Alloy for Sustainability: a Review(Springer London Ltd, 2019) Osman, Khaled Ali; Unver, Hakki Ozgur; Seker, UlviRecently, the manufacturing sector is increasingly keen to apply sustainability at all levels of sustainability from system to products and processes. At the processes level, cutting fluids (CFs) are among the most unsustainable materials and need to be addressed properly in accordance with three main and decisive aspects, also known as the triple bottom line: ecology, society, and economics. Minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) is a promising technique that minimizes the use of CFs, thus improving sustainability. This paper presents a review of the literature available on the use of the MQL technique during different machining processes involving titanium alloys (Ti-6Al-4V). To carry out the study, four search engines were used to focus on the most cited articles published over a span of 17years from 2000 to 2016. The performance and drawbacks are compiled for each eco-friendly technique: dry, MQL, and cryogenics with combinations of MQL and cryogenics, critically considering machining parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, and output measures, namely surface roughness, tool life, and cutting temperature. After drawing conclusions from critical evaluation of research body, future research avenues in the field are proposed for the academics and industry. Review Information System Process Improvement: a Managerial Perspective(2003) Mishra,A.System process improvement is a continuous strategy in organizations for reducing overall cost, shortening cycle times, and improve quality and user satisfaction. Review Citation - WoS: 145Citation - Scopus: 189Challenges and Best Practices in Industry-Academia Collaborations in Software Engineering: a Systematic Literature Review(Elsevier, 2016) Garousi, Vahid; Petersen, Kai; Ozkan, BarisContext: The global software industry and the software engineering (SE) academia are two large communities. However, unfortunately, the level of joint industry-academia collaborations in SE is still relatively very low, compared to the amount of activity in each of the two communities. It seems that the two 'camps' show only limited interest/motivation to collaborate with one other. Many researchers and practitioners have written about the challenges, success patterns (what to do, i.e., how to collaborate) and anti-patterns (what not do do) for industry-academia collaborations. Objective: To identify (a) the challenges to avoid risks to the collaboration by being aware of the challenges, (b) the best practices to provide an inventory of practices (patterns) allowing for an informed choice of practices to use when planning and conducting collaborative projects. Method: A systematic review has been conducted. Synthesis has been done using grounded-theory based coding procedures. Results: Through thematic analysis we identified 10 challenge themes and 17 best practice themes. A key outcome was the inventory of best practices, the most common ones recommended in different contexts were to hold regular workshops and seminars with industry, assure continuous learning from industry and academic sides, ensure management engagement, the need for a champion, basing research on real world problems, showing explicit benefits to the industry partner, be agile during the collaboration, and the co-location of the researcher on the industry side. Conclusion: Given the importance of industry-academia collaboration to conduct research of high practical relevance we provide a synthesis of challenges and best practices, which can be used by researchers and practitioners to make informed decisions on how to structure their collaborations. The relative lack of facilities, skills, funds and information on existing e-Health initiatives has affected progress on e-Health in Africa. Objectives: To review publicly available literature on e-Health in sub-Saharan Africa (sSA) towards providing information on existing and ongoing e-Health initiatives in the region. Methods: Searches of relevant literature were conducted on Medline, EMBASE and Global Health, with search dates set from 1990 to 2016. We included studies on e-Health initiatives (prototypes, designs, or completed projects) targeting population groups in sSA. Results: Our search returned 2322 hits, with 26 studies retained. Included studies were conducted in 14 countries across the four sub-regions in sSA (Central, East, South and West) and spreading over a 12-year period, 2002-2014. Six types of e-Health interventions were reported, with 17 studies (65%) based on telemedicine, followed by mHealth with 5 studies (19%). Other e-Health types include expert system, electronic medical records, e-mails, and online health module. Specific medical specialties covered include dermatology (19%), pathology (12%) and radiology (8%). Successes were 'widely reported' (representing 50% overall acceptance or positive feedbacks in a study) in 10 studies (38%). The prominent challenges reported were technical problems, poor inter net and connectivity, participants' selection biases, contextual issues, and lack of funds. Conclusion: E-Health is evolving in sSA, but with poorly published evidence. While we call for more quality research in the region, it is also important that population-wide policies and on-going e-Health initiatives are contextually feasible, acceptable, and sustainable. Review Citation - Scopus: 2Coal Preparation in the World - Current Status and Global Trends: a Review("Ore and Metals" Publishing house, 2016) Rubinstein,J.B.; Swanson,A.; Holuszko,M.E.; Shaoqiang,Z.; Ziaja,D.; Anastassakis,G.; Vorobev,S.A.This article is a review composed of 14 sections prepared by representatives of the involved countries. The sections inform on: coal production volume per country; principal coal producing regions and companies; coal preparation technologies and trends of coal use in national economies, considering the environmental constraints. The review opens with the section devoted to the state of the art and prospects of coal preparation in Russia; the next sections about other countries are arranged in the way to fit the Latin alphabet. The scope of the Russian section encompasses large projects on coal preparation, prospects of coal application in power generation and the issue of coal mine waste reprocessing. The Australian section emphasizes that coal is an important export article and the key component of power generation in the country. It is mentioned that round 90 % of ROM coal needs preparation before marketing. The section on Canada gives evaluation of coal reserves and resources and a detail description of coalproducing companies in the country. China is the largest coal-producing country in the world (3.87 Bt of coal in 2014); more than 60 % of coal is subjected to preparation. Germany is running short of coal reserves (coal reserves are only sufficient until late 2018) but holds enormous reserves of lignite subjected to open pit mining. Hungary produces nearly 10 Mt of coal yearly and uses it to generate 14 % of the total power output. India is the world's third coal producer (after China and USA as of 2014). Kazakhstan takes half of produced coal to generate power and 30 % for export. Poland is the largest coal producer in Europe. All coal is mined with the underground method and approximately 60 % of coal needs preparation. The Republic of South Africa exports nearly one third of produced coal. Half of coal left in the country is spent to generate power and round 20 % of coal is converted to chemicals and fuel products. The best part of the produced coal needs preparation and coal for export is totally subjected to dressing. Turkey mines mainly lignite (95 %). The deficit of power-generating coal is compensated by the import. The coal industry of the Great Britain is at the stage of dying. It is planned to close all coal-run power plants by 2025. USA is the world's second producer of coal. Preparation embraces approximately 40 % of mined coal. The review ends with an analysis of international RandD projects in the area of coal preparation.Review Citation - WoS: 18Citation - Scopus: 24A Literature Review on Mhe Selection Problem: Levels, Contexts, and Approaches(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2015) Saputro, Thomy Eko; Masudin, Ilyas; Rouyendegh (Babek Erdebilli), Babak DaneshvarThis paper presents a review on selection problem of material handling equipment (MHE) and general equipment used in industry area. The issue on MHE is widely paid attention since MHE has contribution on material, good and product accomplishment. Few methods and softwares have been proposed and developed to select the most appropriate MHE for a complex selection problem. Today's high diverisity of MHE categories and types influence the generation of many possible choices which leads to the complexity. In this paper, a further discussion in terms of MHE and equipment including three major points namely level of selection, the context of selection problem and the approaches are served to highlight the complex MHE selection according to the number of possible choices provided, to analyse the consideration for the problem context, and to reveal the superior method for complex MHE selection. Forty-two papers collected from the past study are presented asscociating each point of the discussion.
