Industrial Design
(2009)
World Design Organization, of which we are an institutional member, defines industrial design in a nutshell as “a trans-disciplinary profession that harnesses creativity to resolve problems and co-create solutions with the intent of making a product, system, service, experience or a business, better.” Industrial designers place people at the heart of the process. They perceive user needs in depth through empathy and apply a pragmatic, user-centered problem solving process to design products, systems, services and experiences. They are the strategic shareholders of the innovation process and are in a unique position to bridge the gap between various professional disciplines and commercial interests. They value the economic, social and environmental effects of their work, as well as its contributions in the creation of a better quality of life. Founded in 2009, our department offers mandatory professional courses, technical courses and professional elective courses to prepare our students to become well-equipped and competitive in their business life.
Mathematics
(2000)
The Atılım University Department of Mathematics was founded in 2000 and it offers education in English. The Department offers students the opportunity to obtain a certificate in Mathematical Finance or Cryptography, aside from their undergraduate diploma. Our students may obtain a diploma secondary to their diploma in Mathematics with the Double-Major Program; as well as a certificate in their minor alongside their diploma in Mathematics through the Minor Program. Our graduates may pursue a career in academics at universities, as well as be hired in sectors such as finance, education, banking, and informatics. Our Department has been accredited by the evaluation and accreditation organization FEDEK for a duration of 5 years (until September 30th, 2025), the maximum FEDEK accreditation period achievable. Our Department is globally and nationally among the leading Mathematics departments with a program that suits international standards and a qualified academic staff; even more so for the last five years with our rankings in the field rankings of URAP, THE, USNEWS and WEBOFMETRIC.
Department of International Relations
(1997)
Our Department has grown steadily since its establishment in the academic year of 1997 and 1998 both in terms of the numbers of graduate programs as well as the student intake. I am proud of saying that we now have three fully-fledged graduate studies offering programmes in English, Turkish or both. Currently, we have International Relations MA Programme in both Turkish and English and European Union MA Programme in Turkish.
Civil Engineering
(2000)
The Atılım University Department of Civil Engineering was founded in 2000 as a pioneer for the Departments of Civil Engineering among the foundation schools of Ankara. It offers education in English. The Department of Civil Engineering has an academic staff qualified in all areas of the education offered. In addition to a high level of academic learning that benefits from learning opportunities through practice at its seven laboratories, the Department also offers a Cooperative Education program conducted in cooperation with renowned organizations in the construction sector. Accredited by MÜDEK (Association of Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs) (in 2018), our Department has been granted the longest period of accreditation to ever achieve through the association (six years). The accreditation is recognized by ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education), and other international accreditation boards.
Industrial Engineering
(1998)
Industrial Engineering is a field of engineering that develops and applies methods and techniques to design, implement, develop and improve systems comprising of humans, materials, machines, energy and funding. Our department was founded in 1998, and since then, has graduated hundreds of individuals who may compete nationally and internationally into professional life. Accredited by MÜDEK in 2014, our student-centered education continues. In addition to acquiring the knowledge necessary for every Industrial engineer, our students are able to gain professional experience in their desired fields of expertise with a wide array of elective courses, such as E-commerce and ERP, Reliability, Tabulation, or Industrial Engineering Applications in the Energy Sector. With dissertation projects fictionalized on solving real problems at real companies, our students gain experience in the sector, and a wide network of contacts. Our education is supported with ERASMUS programs. With the scientific studies of our competent academic staff published in internationally-renowned magazines, our department ranks with the bests among other universities. IESC, one of the most active student networks at our university, continues to organize extensive, and productive events every year.
Mechatronics Engineering
(2002)
The Atılım University Department of Mechatronics Engineering started its operation in 2002 as the Education Program in Mechatronics Engineering holding a “department” status in Turkey. In addition, it is the first and the only institution for mechatronic engineering education to obtain a MÜDEK (Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs) accreditation for a duration of 5 years. Mechatronics engineering is a discipline of engineering that combines mechanical, electrical and electronic engineering and software technologies on a machine or a product. These features place the field on a pedestal in today’s industry. The education at our department is also backed by substantial laboratory opportunities. Our students create interesting products of their skills and creativity for their dissertation projects. Should they wish to do so, our students may also proceed with a double-major program in the fields of Computer Engineering, Electrical - Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical, Automotive or Software Engineering. Upon their demands, the Department of Mechatronic Engineering also offers a “Cooperative Education” program implemented in coordination with industrial institutions. Students receiving a portion of their training at industrial institutions and prepare for professional life under this program
Department of Psychology
(2004)
The Atılım University Department of Psychology was founded in the year 2004, and is the first Department of Psychology at the Foundation Schools of Ankara. Our undergraduate program is accredited by FEDEK (The Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of University Programs in Mathematical, Natural and Social Sciences) until 2026. The aim of the department is to raise individuals who are experienced in psychological research and practices and equipped with professional ethics and theoretical knowledge. Our department allows our students to take courses in line with their interests and career goals with our wide range of elective courses on the sub-fields of psychology.
Mechanical Engineering
(2009)
The Atılım University Department of Mechanical Engineering started education in 2009, and offers graduate and doctorate degree programs, in addition to its undergraduate program. Our main goal is to graduate Mechanical Engineers who have the skills to design, analyze and synthesize; who are able to convert advanced technology and innovations into products; and who have the culture of research and cooperation. While our graduates reach this goal, they adopt the principle of life-long learning, and develop a sense of entrepreneurship, paying importance to professional ethics. With a curriculum prepared in line with the criteria of MÜDEK, we help our students develop themselves professionally, and socially. Graduates of mechanical engineering may be employed in many sectors and in a wide array of positions. Able to work under any field that involves production and energy conversion, graduates of the department may also gain expertise in fields such as aviation, automotive, or material engineering.
Department of English Language and Literature
(1997)
Founded in 1997, the Department of English Language and Literature is one of the first Departments of Atılım University. Through the graduate and doctorate degree programs in addition to the undergraduate program, the Department raises students and academicians. At the Department of English Language and Literature, we aim to graduate students who have studied and learned the English language and literature at an advanced level and developed the skill to produce ideas; as well as the ability to do analyses and academic research on literature. In addition to granting our students with the opportunity to develop their backgrounds in general culture, the education that we offer contributes to their interest and knowledge in contemporary and current issues. Accredited for 5 years from February 24th 2019 by FEDEK, our undergraduate program grants our students the opportunity to join Double-Major or Minor programs in Translation and Interpretation, and International Relations. Another option for the students of our Department is the Erasmus Exchange Program.
Department of Computer Engineering
(2002)
Master program of Computer Engineering Department which was launched in February 2002 is one of the two oldest programs of Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences. The program has thesis and non-thesis master options. With the advantage of having highly qualified faculty members, our master program not only gives fundamental high level courses but also attaches importance to the advances in information and communication technologies. Almost all of the courses were designed to meet expectations of the industry and focus on the latest technological developments. It is also continuously being updated considering the needs of the local industry in this respect. Additionally, our program gives high priority to increase the research potential of its students.
