Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Autonomous Multiple Teams Establishment for Mobile Sensor Networks by Svms Within a Potential Field(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2012) Nazlibilek, SedatIn this work, a new method and algorithm for autonomous teams establishment with mobile sensor network units by SVMs based on task allocations within a potential field is proposed. The sensor network deployed into the environment using the algorithm is composed of robot units with sensing capability of magnetic anomaly of the earth. A new algorithm is developed for task assignment. It is based on the optimization of weights between robots and tasks. The weights are composed of skill ratings of the robots and priorities of the tasks. Multiple teams of mobile units are established in a local area based on these mission vectors. A mission vector is the genetic and gained background information of the mobile units. The genetic background is the inherent structure of their knowledge base in a vector form but it can be dynamically updated with the information gained later on by experience. The mission is performed in a magnetic anomaly environment. The initial values of the mission vectors are loaded by the task assignment algorithm. The mission vectors are updated at the beginning of each sampling period of the motion. Then the teams of robots are created by the support vector machines. A linear optimal hyperplane is calculated by the use of SVM algorithm during training period. Then the robots are classified as teams by use of SVM mechanism embedded in the robots. The support vector machines are implemented in the robots by ordinary op-amps and basic logical gates. Team establishment is tested by simulations and a practical test-bed. Both simulations and the actual operation of the system prove that the system functions satisfactorily. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. We have evaluated the existing evaluation criteria for OO metrics, and based on the observations, a model is proposed which tries to cover most of the features for the evaluation of OO metrics. The model is validated by applying it to existing OO metrics. In contrast to the other existing criteria, the proposed model is simple in implementation and includes the practical and important aspects of evaluation; hence it suitable to evaluate and validate any OO complexity metric.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1Development of a Maternal Psychological Control Scale: a Study With Turkish University Students(Springer, 2023) Metin-Orta, Irem; Metin-Camgoz, SelinIn the last few decades, parental control has received significant attention from scholars. In particular, much work has been dedicated to understanding psychological control, which is parental control intruding on the child's emotional and psychological development. This study aimed to develop a maternal psychological control scale (MPCS) and to test its psychometric properties in a sample of Turkish university students. Data were collected from two separate samples comprising a total of 425 participants. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was employed in Study Sample 1(215) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was conducted using Study Sample 2 (210) to verify the parental manipulation and disregard dimensions of the proposed scale. The findings revealed supportive evidence for two dimensions of the 18-item MPCS. The bivariate correlations revealed that the MPCS scores were moderately and positively correlated with loneliness scores, and those from an existing psychological control scale; however, they were negatively correlated with behavioral control and self-esteem scores. The MPCS developed in this study can be utilized by researchers, clinicians, and educators as an efficient instrument to assess emerging adults' perceived psychological control. Overall, this study contributes to practitioners and researchers in the way that perceived parental psychological control is assessed in a wide range of populations.Conference Object Citation - Scopus: 7Challenges of using software size in agile software development: A systematic literature review(CEUR-WS, 2018) Hacaloglu,T.; Demirors,O.Software size is a fundamental measure for software management. Size is used for a variety of purposes, such as benchmarking, normalization, and portfolio measurement, and it is frequently considered as the sole input of estimation. Estimations can be produced for various reasons; e.g., to predict effort, cost and duration of software development projects. There are different types of software size measures. Particularly in projects where agile methodologies are adopted, measurement becomes a significant challenge as it is perceived as a non-value-added task and records of tasks such as requirements identification are not always consistent. The difficulties of applying traditional size measurement techniques in agile contexts, however, do not diminish the need, and new methods and techniques are introduced to improve the manageability of the agile projects. In this paper, we discuss estimation and measurement approaches in relation with ―software size in agile contexts. Based on this review, we present the perceptions of software size and related challenges, such as misinterpretation of size, difficulties in implementation, and acceptability of the measurement processes. We anticipate that providing a baseline for the state of software size measures in agile contexts and presenting related challenges, particularly in terms of its acceptability by practitioners can shed light on the development of new techniques. © 2018 CEUR-WS. All rights reserved.Conference Object A Mechatronic Load Testing Equipment(2013) Yildiran,H.O.; Gürel,C.In a Project given to 2nd year students in Engineering Mechanics I (Statics) course the students are required to make calculations and prototype of a spring link- rigid body link weight carrying body with concurrent forces in 2D. Unfortunately the student had problems in visualization of the problem and also the solution. In this paper a prototype is shown (manufactured) which have an output of the results so as to use these results in checking calculation and visualization of the system in a lab environment study. Results are given to the students as: Theoretical, mechanical, through potentiometric device readings and by image processing. By this test apparatus, students change connection points and the weights and make the calculations to find forces in elements, displacement of spring and the angles that links make with horizontal. They see the results as; change in length of spring, the forces in each member visually on LCD (PC) and compare their results. The main object of this equipment, is to make Mechatronics Engineering students understand the problem better, check their results, meet with future mechatronic devices they will see in their following semesters and have an understanding of what mechatronic systems are.Conference Object A Case Study on Measuring Course Learning Outcomes in Software Engineering Education;(CEUR-WS, 2017) Karakaya,M.; Turhan,C.; Yazici,A.One of the most critical outcomes in the MÜDEK accreditation system which plays an important role in the evaluation and assessment of the quality of education in higher education institutions is evaluating how much students have achieved the course outcomes. This study aims to compare two methods utilized to measure course outcomes in the Software Engineering department of Atilim University. In the most general sense, these two methods are based on indirect and direct measurement techniques. The results of the analysis show a high degree of differentiation between the direct measurement and indirect measurement results. In light of the results obtained, some recommendations have been offered for course outcome assessment methods to be developed in the scope of MÜDEK accreditation.
