    Kadınlar, Türkiye nüfusunun yarısını oluşturmaktalar. On yılı aşkın bir süredir gerek Türkiye gerekse yurtdışı kırsalında gerçekleşen saha çalışmalarım aracılığıyla, bana göre kırsal alanların en değerli varlıkları olan kadınlara ilişkin değişik fotoğraflar çekiyorum. Bu sayede kırsal kadının özelliklerini daha iyi anlama ve yerinde gözlemler yapabilme imkanı da yakalıyorum. Söz konusu deneyimlerimi, 8 Mart Dünya Kadınlar Günü münasebetiyle Türkiye kırsalında kadını anlatan fotoğraf kareleri eşliğinde siz değerli okurlarla paylaşmayı istedim.

    Governance and Participation in Camili Biosphere Reserve

    Camili Biosphere Reserve surrounded by Karcal Mountains was one of the pilot sites of the ―Biodiversity and Natural Resources Management Project‖ implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. The first steps of development and implementation of participatory management plans and effective governance mechanisms for protected areas in Turkey were taken during this project. In this article, the important role of participatory management and effective governance structures in protected areas are emphasized based on the participatory management planning and governance process implemented in Camili Biosphere Reserve. The experiences gained, and the current state of the protected area is discussed and suggestions are made.

    Integration of Environmental Aspects in Tourism Higher Education: the Hotel Managers’ Point of View

    Our environment and our society is continually dynamic. Courses such as hotel management, hygiene, food and beverage, front office are essential for the tourism sector. Besides, concern for environmen tal issues is one of the key components of higher education for tourism. This study presents a critical review of environmental aspects in higher education for tourism in Turkey. Because the demand for vocational schools (two-year colleges) is more than that for faculties, there are more vocational schools than four-year faculties in Turkey. Their curriculum was researched and determined to lessons about the environment. In the scope of this study; a questionnaire was conducted on managers of blue flag hotels to learn their opinion about the sector. According to these reviews, the importance of environ mental education in higher education was emphasized.
