    An Investigation Into The AI-Assisted Visualization Of Children’s Songs: The Case Of Ali Baba’s Farm

    This study aims to visualize children’s songs, which are part of primary-level music education, using AI-supported tools. The objectives of the Ministry of National Education’s music course curriculum were examined, and both the themes to be emphasized in song selection and the pedagogical functions of children’s songs were analyzed. In the literature review, the Web of Science and Google Scholar databases were used. The obtained source data were analyzed with the VOSviewer software to generate conceptual maps, through which thematic trends in the field were identified. In the practical part of the study, the children’s song “Old MacDonald’s Farm” was visualized in detail using two different AI-supported tools: RunwayML and WZRD.ai. In RunwayML, prompt-based scenes were generated using the “text-to-video” feature, and visuals compatible with the lyrics of the song were created. On the WZRD.ai platform, visuals were automatically generated in response to sound waves, and the limitations of the platform were examined. Based on the findings, it was concluded that RunwayML offers more effective results for pedagogical content production, while WZRD. ai, despite its technical capabilities, falls short in delivering child-appropriate visual stimuli. The study also provides a theoretical foundation on synesthesia and discusses how AI tools can be integrated into music education in early childhood and primary school levels. The findings indicate that AI-supported visualization tools have the potential to provide engaging and flexible educational materials that support learning at the primary school level. It is recommended that teacher training programs develop hands-on modules for these tools, and that future research focus on how these technologies can be adapted to various songs, age groups, and learning domains. © © 2025 The Author(s).     Multifunctional POSS-Based Nanoparticles Functionalized with Silver, SPIONs, and Rhamnolipid for Antibacterial Applications

    Nano-engineered materials, particularly those featuring bio-based surface modifications, are emerging as effective tools in combating bacterial infections. In this study, polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) nanoparticles were functionalized with silver nanoparticles (Ag), superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs), and the biosurfactant rhamnolipid (RL)—either individually or in combination—to evaluate their antibacterial and antibiofilm activities against Staphylococcus aureus ( S. aureus ) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa ( P. aeruginosa ). The modified nanoparticles exhibited sizes ranging from 127 to 227 nm and demonstrated superparamagnetic behavior, offering potential for magnetic targeting. Among the various formulations, the RL-coated, silver- and SPION-decorated POSS nanoparticles (RSMP) exhibited the highest antibacterial efficacy, reducing S. aureus and P. aeruginosa colony growth by approximately 90 % and 66 %, respectively, at a concentration of 0.01 g/L. RSMP nanoparticles also showed strong biofilm inhibition and had the lowest MIC₅₀ values. Notably, these nanoparticles supported the proliferation of human osteoblasts at concentrations up to 0.05 g/L, indicating favorable cytocompatibility. Overall, RSMP nanoparticles present a promising platform for magnetically targetable antibacterial agents, with potential applications in biomedical fields, particularly for managing orthopedic infections. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

    HOW TO WRITE POETICALLY

    The importance of the role of writing in second language acquisition is indisputable. Compared to other skills, such as reading, listening and speaking, writing has a unique place, for it is a creative and productive stage of second language learning. It has been observed that almost every student has difficulty in writing. Students struggle to write even a solitary sentence let alone a well organized, coherent and accurate essay, which is a prerequisite for English Preparatory School students and for freshman students of English Language and Literature departments. The aim of this paper is to show how supposedly "boring" writing courses can be made attractive, enjoyable and at the same time productive to students. To this end, we provide our students with an atmosphere wherein creativity, enjoyment and above all, learning can take place. Our chosen medium in the construction of such a learning environment is poetry. The paper consists of two sections: the first is the theory section, which is about the function of literature. This section also includes a number of poetry definitions and the advantages of using poetry in writing courses. The second section focuses on practical activities to demonstrate how poetry can be applied to improve students' writing skills. The second section proceeds in three subsections entitled "pre-writing", "writing" and "post-writing". The overall aim of these activities is to integrate the two receptive language skills, reading and listening, and the two productive skills, writing and speaking. In conclusion, this paper is an attempt to turn a negatively perceived writing class into a student-friendly activity.

    The Dark Side of Proactive Behaviors and Blind Spot Management

    Proactive behavior, which should be anticipatory and agentic, can be defined as actions focused on certain behaviors aimed at improving job performance, career success, and employee well-being. Even if organizational citizenship behaviors have been frequently characterized as proactive behaviors, this is not true under every condition, as they may be either reactive or passive. Although proactive behavior among employees has been widely studied because of the importance that organizations place on improving performance and effectiveness, the potential and possible negative outcomes of such behavior have often been ignored. Examining and discovering the potential negative implications of proactive behaviors and formulating strategies to manage blind spots are vital for developing a general understanding of proactive behaviors for both employees and firms. The intention of this study is to conduct a literature review on proactive behaviors by focusing on the dark side and blind spots of proactive behaviors.     With the growing prevalence of wireless communication technologies, social networking sites (SNSs) such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. have become an important venues for interpersonal communication. This chapter provides a detailed overview of the current literature on online social networking with respect to its beneficial and detrimental effects on psychological wellbeing. In particular, it provides empirical evidence for the associations of SNS use with depression, self-esteem, loneliness, subjective wellbeing, social anxiety, attachment, personality traits, and addiction. Furthermore, it identifies the characteristics of individuals who are more prone to social networking, and presents possible mediators and moderators playing a role in the relationship between social networking and mental health.     Consumer Behavior and Sustainability: What Role Does Eco-Friendly Packaging Play in Emerging Markets

    Purpose – This study aims to offer a systematic review of eco-friendly packaged products from the consumer perspective in emerging markets. Design/methodology/approach – This study analyzed 47 Web of Science and SCOPUS articles using the PRISMA and theory-context-characteristics-methodology (TCCM) framework. Findings – This systematic review shows that prior research was mainly quantitative and relied heavily on the theory of planned behavior. This study categorized the articles by personal, product, price, place, promotion and external factors. Research primarily focused on personal factors, especially values and attitudes. Place-related factors were the least studied. Few studies explored mediators and moderators of purchase intention. Originality/value – This study shifts the focus of eco-friendly packaging research toward the consumer perspective, which was underexplored in the existing literature, particularly in emerging markets. While prior studies have primarily centered on manufacturers, this review synthesizes prior research showing that consumer behavior, knowledge and perception play a critical role in advancing sustainability and circular economy goals. This systematic review is the first to address this gap in emerging markets and offers implications for policymakers and businesses aiming to promote sustainable consumption in diverse socioeconomic settings. © 2025 Emerald Publishing Limited

    Driving Conditions Leading To Thermal Runaway in Li-Ion Battery EV's

    The adoption of high-energy-density lithium-ion batteries (LIB) as the energy source in electric vehicles (EV) introduces significant safety concerns. Thermal runaway (TR), a self-accelerating rise in battery temperature resulting in catastrophic failure, is a significant safety concern. Cooling system failure within the EV's thermal management system is one of several factors that can trigger TR. Typically, TR is initiated by exceeding a critical temperature threshold under abusive conditions. Understanding the operating conditions that lead to the path of TR is essential for ensuring EV and occupant safety. Recently, a detailed electrochemical-thermal model that incorporates the chemical reactions within the battery until TR is introduced. This paper aims to illustrate how this model can be used to identify the conditions leading to TR under realistic EV driving scenarios. For this purpose, an Advisor/Matlab-based model of a hybrid EV is developed and verified by tests, is used to estimate the current required from the vehicle's battery pack at a given driving condition. This is followed by the prediction of battery thermal response using the mentioned finite-element-analysis-based battery model. Several scenarios are tested in this paper to determine whether TR occurs and to identify the factors contributing to TR. This study aids in comprehending the factors that contribute to TR and the development of preventative measures for battery management system design.

    Protective Effects of Metformin in Non-Diabetic Rats With Experimentally Induced Lower Extremity Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

    Aim: Lower extremity ischemia-reperfusion (IR) injury can lead to substantial skeletal muscle damage and systemic complications, primarily driven by oxidative stress and inflammation. In addition to its well-known glucose-lowering effects, metformin possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may confer protection against tissue damage caused by IR. This study aims to evaluate the potential protective effects of metformin on skeletal muscle injury using a rat model of lower extremity IR.Material and Methods: A total of twenty-four male Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into four experimental groups: Control (C), Ischemia-Reperfusion (IR), IR with metformin at 4 mg/kg (IR+M4), and IR with metformin at 8 mg/kg (IR+M8). Ischemia was induced by clamping the infrarenal aorta for 45 minutes, followed by a reperfusion period of 120 minutes. In the treatment groups, metformin was administered intraperitoneally at the onset of ischemia. Gastrocnemius muscle tissues were harvested for subsequent histopathological and biochemical evaluations, including measurements of Total Antioxidant Status (TAS), Total Oxidant Status (TOS), and Oxidative Stress Index (OSI).Results: Histopathological analysis demonstrated a significant reduction in muscle atrophy, degeneration, leukocyte infiltration, and fiber fragmentation in the IR+M8 group compared to the IR group. Biochemical assessments showed that TAS levels were considerably elevated, whereas TOS and OSI levels were markedly reduced in the metformin-treated groups, with the most prominent effects observed at the higher dosage of 8 mg/kg.Conclusion: The findings indicate that metformin exerts a dose-dependent protective effect against skeletal muscle injury resulting from lower extremity ischemia-reperfusion in rats. These protective properties are likely due to metformin’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms, highlighting its potential therapeutic value in mitigating IR-induced tissue damage.
