Article Creative Pattern Trials for Above the Keyboard Wear With Trompe L'oeil Illusion(Anadolu Univ, 2022) Aydeniz, Sena Surmeli; Cegindir, Nese YasarThe design scenario of this study is based on seeking answers to the question "How can we produce different, extraordinary and original shirts for working women with the Trompe l'oeil (illusion) technique?". The sample of the study, in which the user-oriented design research method was used, is women working above the keyboard. Within the scope of the study, three women's shirts were produced with creative pattern applications. The classical techniques known in garment production have been reconstructed with the Trompe l'oeil technique. The findings were discussed in two dimensions as the process carried out for these three shirts and the prototype evaluation. Osborn's checklist was used to create the design value of the shirts. For the evaluations of the marketability of the products, measurement was made in the form of voting over Google Forms. As a result of the voting, the first prototype was found to be more suitable for the target audience. Based on the individual comments received, it has been observed that originality varies when the position and needs of the target audience come into play. The importance of the user profile in creative product design has been understood.Article Citation - WoS: 10The Comparison of Trust Development in Virtual and Face-To Collaborative Learning Groups(Anadolu Univ, 2019) Baturay, Meltem Huri; Toker, SacipThe study investigates the effect of delivery types of (virtual and face-to-face) collaborative learning environments on the development of trust among group members in a graduate course. For this aim, a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent group comparison was used. It comprised a total of 64 participants 21 in the face-to-face group, and 43 in the virtual group. Study participants were comprised of students registered in a course entitled 'Web-based Education: Principles of Design and Implementation' in the spring semester as part of either a virtual or traditional face-to-face graduate program in Information Systems at an institute of higher education in Turkey in 2010. Trust levels were measured at two different occasions, namely in the beginning and end of the semester, for both study groups. The participants completed a web-based course material design project as a collaborative group activity. The results indicate that trust increases over time among virtual participants, but declines among face-to-face participants. While levels of trust among virtual course participants are lower than those of face-to-face course participants in the beginning of the semester, trust levels of virtual participants surpass those of faceto-face participants by the end of the semester. This study demonstrates that trust can develop in virtual learning environments. The initial level of trust should be taken into consideration by instructors or managers before forming groups.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 8Remote Rf Laboratory Requirements: Engineers' and Technicians' Perspective(Anadolu Univ, 2007) Cagiltay, Nergiz Ercil; Aydin, Elif Uray; Kara, Ali; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; Software EngineeringThis study aims to find out requirements and needs to be fulfilled in developing remote Radio Frequency (RF) laboratory. Remote laboratories are newly emerging solutions for better supporting of e-learning platforms and for increasing their efficiency and effectiveness in technical education. By this way, modern universities aim to provide lifelong learning environments to extend their education for a wider area and support learners anytime and anywhere when they need help. However, as far as the authors concern, there is no study investigating the requirements and needs of remote laboratories in that particular field in the literature. This study is based on electrical engineers' and technicians' perspectives on the requirements of a remote laboratory in RF domain. Its scope covers investigation of the participants' perceptions toward computer mediated communication and it attempts to answer the questions: which studying strategies are preferred by the learners and what kind of RF laboratory content should be provided. The analysis of the results showed that, geographic independence, finding quickly the elements of past communication and temporal independence are declared as the most important advantages of computer-mediated communication. However, reading significant amount of information is a problem of these environments. In the context of how to show the content, respondents want to see shorter text on the screen. Therefore the instructions should include little amount of text and must be supported with figures and interactive elements. The instructional materials developed for such learner groups should support both linear and non-linear instructions. While analyzing the content to be provided, we have seen that, most of the participants do not have access to high level equipments and traditional experiments are considered as the necessary ones for both engineers and technicians.Article Citation - WoS: 1How Attitudes Towards E-Learning Affected the Academic Achievement During the Covid-19 Pandemic: an Example of a Nursing Skills Teaching(Anadolu Univ, 2023) Gurlek Kisacik, Oznur; Sonmez, Munevver; Ozdas, AzizeIt is known that the students' attitudes toward e-learning are an important factor in achieving the targeted learning achievement. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between attitudes toward e-learning and the academic achievements. This cross-sectional and correlational study was conducted with a total of 135 first-year nursing students. Data were collected via Student Information Form, General Attitudes toward E-Learning Scale, Vital Signs Skills Laboratory Practice Assessment Videos. Two-Way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, multiple linear regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The total mean score of the first-year NSs' general attitude scale toward e-learning was found to be 52.58 +/- 15.93. A statistically negative correlation was found between the "avoidance of e-learning" factor and the NSs' vital signs skills general achievement scores (r= -0.185; p= .035). Gender (beta 1= 5.399, p= 0.001), receiving adequate counseling and help on using the e-learning platform (beta 1= 4.895, p= 0.022) and avoidance of e-learning (beta 1= -0.222 p= 0.046) explained 20.9% of the variance in vital signs overall achievement score. The results showed that negative attitudes and negative satisfaction with e-learning may lead to a decrease in e-learning academic achievement.Article Collaboration in Art: Collaborative Printmaking Workshop and Master Printer(Anadolu Univ, 2022) Gundogdu, DoguPrinting dates back to pre-written history, in the beginning it was only a means of reproduction, in time, it took a place among the means of artistic expressions with its artistic use. Printmaking, which forms the basis of graphic arts, requires serious technical knowledge and workshops with high installation and operating costs. This makes printmaking inaccessible to many artists by leaving it a very traditional means of production. The idea of the collaborative printmaking workshops with master printer accompaniment, has had a serious impact on the production of contemporary prints in printmaking. For the artists who do not have sufficient technical knowledge and skills in printing techniques or who do not have access to printing workshops; collaborative printmaking workshops with master printer accompaniment are institutions which allow artists from different disciplines to produce works in the field of printmaking. Throughout history, collaborative printmaking workshops helped revealing the true potential of printmaking and contributed to the transformation of printmaking into a contemporary means of expression by getting rid of its traditional attitude. In this article, the roles of the collaborative printmaking workshop and the master printmaker are examined while the working models of collaborative printmaking workshops are being discussed. The article also discusses how the printmaking can earn a function in the contemporary art market.Article The Effects of Common Basic Design Workshops in The Industrail Design Education Held Between 2014-2019(Anadolu Univ, 2021) Ozsuca, Fatma FilizAs in all design disciplines, Industrial Design education starts with "Basic Design". It is the most challenging stage for students to learn in a method and to visualize abstract subjects practically that is never encountered until the end of secondary education. According to present data there are 32 universities providing Industrial Design education in Turkey. With the format of a workshop started in 2014 in Ankara where 5 of these universities are located, the effects of common and different methods of student profiles on education were observed. The aim of the workshop format is to introduce students, lecturers and course contents, and the methods of processing to each other, and to help the students with the same education to acquire the ability to do business on common grounds. It is also important to exhibit the works done as workshop outputs. A total of 3 workshops were held in the same format. After 2017, workshops were held in a different format as a result of the increase in the number of students registered in universities and spatial limitations. In this article, joint workshops and joint workshops between different schools and Atilim University Department of Industrial Design have been examined. It is known that in addition to the workshops examined here, there are also collaborative workshops between different schools.
