Ayrıca, toplumda farkındalık yaratmak ve erken tanı için akciğer kanseri yönündentarama çalışmaları yapmak hedeflenmelidirConference Object Citation Count: 0An algorithm for passive RFID based location estimation;(IEEE Computer Society, 2014) Ozyurt,E.; Aydin,E.; Yapici,A.C.; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; Airframe and Powerplant MaintenanceIn this study, an indoor localization system is developed for the mobile robots. This work primarily focuses on feature extraction approaches for extracting candidate car plate regions. For this purpose, we start with restricting our feature extraction regions by use of a hierarchical edge detection method. Edge detection is based on discrete wavelet transform. Performances of Haar and Daubechies filters are compared on that basis. Three different methods are proposed for feature extraction: histogram feature, horizontal profiling on the edge map, and segment features followed by segmentation. The performance of each algorithm is presented by use of tests on ATS images. © 2005 IEEE.Conference Object Citation Count: 3An alternative method for cell counting;(2011) Özkan,A.; Belgin Işgör,S.; Tora,H.; Uyar,P.; Işcan,M.; Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance; Department of Electrical & Electronics EngineeringCell counts and classification of the cells play an important role in the field of microbiology and cell biology. Although there exists many counting processes for cells of interest in suspension, the most basic cell counting process is performed by a person via the microscope. For counting cells the simplest, widely used and the most economic method is the use of hemocytometer counting. In this study, the hemocytometer counting was used but the the cells were counted by a proposed image based approach. The developed technique herein uses neural network along with the Hough transform. © 2011 IEEE.Article Citation Count: 0An analysis of a special talent examination and the matter of quality;(T.C. Milli Egitim Bakanligi, 2017) Ünver,E.; Textile and Fashion DesignAlthough there is an evaluation system, prepared by The Council of Higher Education, concerning special talent examinations, there are several differences in application. Changing grade rates, accepted in the current program, most universities' preselection systems, and some universities' enrolling all students or considering only special talent examinations are some of the basic differences. Data, gained through the analysis of the special talent examination, held at AU, a private university, reveal the matter of quality clearly. In the two dimensional matrix analysis of data in the 2015-2016 Academic Year special talent examination, it has been discovered that the results are parallel to the previous years' grades, no precautions have been taken to solve the quality matter and the same problem has been experienced in most private universities which sustain themselves with student tuitions, and have been holding ranking examinations instead of special talent examinations to fill their quota. The aim of this study is to provide the reader with numerical data for the analysis of the talent examination, in which The Council of Higher Education's evaluation system has been applied, by means of such scores of the candidates as the University Entrance Examination Grade, High School Grade Point Average, Special Talent Examination Grade, and the Placement Grade. The results show that students who do not have the competency required by the field of art and who are not able to develop desired behaviours in the field are enrolled at fine arts or art education departments.Conference Object Citation Count: 0Analysis of the parameters that effects the operating frequencies and bandwidth of a Cpw-fed patch antenna;(2013) Dagdeviren,B.; Yavuz Kapusuz,K.; Can,S.; Aydin,E.; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; Department of Modern LanguagesIn this study, the analysis of the effect of antenna parameters to the operating frequency is performed in a coplanar waveguide fed patch antenna. The study is deemed important because it maintains preserves and introduces “the change in the regular wear of women of middle and upper socio-cultural/economic group in the Ottoman Empire” into the national and international literature, contributes to region-scaled cultural heritage and constitutes a scientific source for those who are interested in this subject. Materials of the descriptive study are as follows: printed and on-line documents regarding clothing culture of the Ottoman Empire, especially from the rise of the Empire forward, itineraries of local and foreign voyagers, engravings, miniatures and photos of clothes in the collections of museums. The samples of the study are eight photos chosen on purpose since they reflect the change of clothing silhouette in the best possible way. Visual materials chosen have been converted into graphical silhouette by use of the Macromedia Free Hand MXa programme. Details of each clothing silhouette were analyzed by comparison with preceding one by use of the visual analysis ditechniques. The change of silhouettes in comparison with preceding one has been examined within the frame of alphabetic that constitutes the fashion literature and silhouettes of women’s clothing. Data acquired from each photograph were sorted chronologically and interpreted by combining with alphabetical silhouettes and graphics which were formed alongside clothing silhouette characteristics. Three-step change in women’s entari has been observed as a result of the study. H-shaped silhouette of entari, which is simple, plain and without detail and taken over from the Seljug Empire, interacted with the Europe thanks to improvement of cultural relations with the Europe following the transition to the settled life. In this process, thanks to the technics of new cut, merging, forming and fixating the form, entaris fitting the body all the better have turned into X silhouette. As of the Tanzimat Reform Era, fashion concept was adopted and entari of intellectual Ottoman women transformed into S-silhouette which was formed by Western women by use of artificial tools. © 2019, Milli Folklor Dergisi. Postpartum anxiety and depression have increased in the last decade, the rates of postpartum depression are around 13% worldwide. In the postpartum period, women may experience anxiety and depression due to the operation they have undergone; such as being in an unfamiliar environment, facing new technological equipment and encounters with the medical teams, the post-operative pain, the new roles women undertake as mothers. One of the factors that increase anxiety and depression in the postpartum period is the type of delivery. In Turkey, the rate of cesarean delivery is comparatively high, which is approximately 52%. Anxiety and depression after cesarean section develop due to fear and concern such as the complications that may occur during and after the mother's anesthesia, the possibility delaying breastfeeding her baby, and experiencing pain. Non-pharmacological evidence-based applications such as reiki, acupressure, hand and foot massage, yoga, reflexology, aromatherapy, skin to skin care, nursing care protocols were found to be effective in studies conducted to reduce anxiety and depression after cesarean-section. Nurses who have critical roles and responsibilities in pre-and post-cesarean care practices are recommended to include these evidence-based non-pharmacological practices in routine care practices. © 2022, Dokuz Eylul University. Different types of systems or devices are developed and given to the services without losing time. Although these progresses, in general, have positive effects sometimes they may cause some problems. One of these problems is that the different terminal devices based on ISDN, PSTN and IP cannot communicate end-to-end with each other in a seamless secure way. In this study, FNBDT (Future Narrow Band Digital Terminal)/SCIP (Secure Communication Interoperability Protocol) protocol, which is developed for end-to-end secure communication of different terminal devices communicating on different networks, is tested from different perspectives using terminal emulator on IP Networks. These types of study have great importance in terms of providing some feedbacks to the development of FNBDT/SCIP and, as one of the initial work on this topic, this study will contribute to the future works in the area.Conference Object Citation Count: 0Application of Kalman filter for the estimation of human head tissue conductivities;(2011) Şengül,G.; Baysal,U.; Computer EngineeringIn this study Extended Kalman Filtering is proposed for the estimation of human head tissue conductivities by using EEG data. The proposed method first linearizes the relationship between the tissue conductivities and surface potentials (EEG measurements) and then iteratively estimates the tissue conductivities. In the study the mathematical background of the proposed method is presented and then performance of the proposed method is investigated by a simulation study. In the simulation study a three layered realistic head model (composed of scalp, skull and brain compartments) obtained from MR images of a real patient is used. The surface potential is calculated by using an arbitrarily chosen conductivity distribution. Then conductivity estimation is iteratively performed by using the calculated potentials and at each iteration relative error rates are calculated by comparing the orginal conductivities and estimated ones. It is found that the relative error rates decrease below of 1% after five iterations. © 2011 IEEE.Conference Object Citation Count: 0An approach for perceptual similarity detection between audios independent of genre via metadata extraction and correlation;(2007) Komsu,F.; Öztoprak,K.; Tora,H.; Airframe and Powerplant MaintenanceThis study presents an approach for perceptual similarity detection between audios independent of genre. The study is formed of three phases; signal pre-processing as the first phase, metadata extraction via various perceptually compatible features as the second phase, and correlation methodology for similarity identification as the third phase. The performance and relative importance of the selected features for perceptual similarity analysis are presented as testing results. Moreover, relative importance of preprocessing is introduced. Using the proposed methodology, perceptual similarity detection between genre independent audios is achieved with a 96.85% performance. Contribution highly lies on the independency of genre.Conference Object Citation Count: 0Bar code localization by image processing;(2005) Öktem,R.; Çetin,A.E.This paper addresses the problem of bar code recognition by use of image processing. Bar codes are composed of parallel alternating dark-light stripes; hence they also appear as parallel lines connected at some orientation in a binary edge map. The proposed algorithms exploit that feature and use morphology and free angle thresholding for localization. Edge map is formed by Sobel operator and binary subband decomposition separately, and the two methods are compared in terms of time complexity and performance. Detailed discussion of test results are also presented. ©2005 IEEE.Conference Object Citation Count: 10Bar code localization in wavelet domain by using binary morphology;(2004) Öktem,R.In this paper, a wavelet transform based bar code localization algorithm is proposed. The algorithm is designed to enable fast and memory efficient application for automatic bar code recognition systems that are used in big manufacturing and distribution units. The region of interest areas are kept and other regions are discarded by applying binary morphology on wavelet transform coefficients. © 2004 IEEE.Conference Object Citation Count: 0A bayes decision model for RSS based location estimation;(2007) Dinçer,Z.; Öktem,R.; Aydin,E.; Department of Electrical & Electronics EngineeringThis work introduces a location estimation method based on Bayes Decision Theory using Radio Signal Strengths for indoor environment. Signal Strengths are observed through three transmitters at three distinct frequencies in UHF band, an active RFID tag and a modem connected to a computer. The test environment is 2100cmx720cm, which is divided into classed of square grids. For each class, a set of received signal strengths are measured and processed. Assuming that the class in which the RFID tag was located in the previous time of measurement is known, the next location (class) is estimated using Bayes Decision Theory. Proposed method is tested in a laboratory environment with obstacles. Results show that proposed method will be successful in location estimation where the estimation error stays within around 2m.Article Citation Count: 15Bioethanol production and potential of Turkey;(2011) Melikoǧlu,M.; Albostan,A.; Energy Systems EngineeringThe ever increasing demand in global energy consumption makes it inevitable for the development of new energy resources. Turkey imports nearly all of its petroleum and this causes major economical problems. In Turkey, a major cereal producer, production of energy crops will decrease the dependence of petroleum and greenhouse gas emissions. In this context, bioethanol production in Turkey becomes a major alternative to petroleum. According to the results find in this study, with the current agricultural output, none of the crops can be adequate for bioethanol production even 100% of crop harvests were utilized. However, with 4% and 7% of current wheat harvest bioethanol required for the production of E5 and E10 can be achieved. In addition, by utilizing the unused land available for agriculture and planting potato, sugar beet, and wheat (each 100%), 5.8, 8.7 and 13.7 billion litres of bioethanol can be produced and this production will be more than enough to supply Turkey's current demand for gasoline.Article Citation Count: 0Borulu Sulama Şebekeleri Optimizasyonu(Turkish Chamber Civil Engineers, 2018) Marım, Gökhan; Darama, Yakup; Bozkuş, Zafer; Civil EngineeringBorulu sulama şebekeleri ülkelerin tarımsal ürün yetiştirmesinde ve su tasarrufunda enönemli sistemlerdir.
