Two flattened surfaces with 90-degrees were ground on the outer surface of the stator. Two PZT-based piezoelectric ceramics were bonded onto these flat surfaces. The asymmetrical surface of the stator developed the split of the two degenerated orthogonal bending modes, resulting in a wobble motion. The working frequency of the 1.6-mm motor with 6 mm in length was 130 kHz. A torque of 0.5 mNm was reached at a maximum power of 45 mW with a speed of 45 rad/sec. To correctly identify and attribute the uncertainty estimates in these systems, an investigation of tem-perature trend signal existing in the datasets that are used to study such systems is necessary. In this study, the trend of widely used ERA5 and ERA5-Land temperature estimates between 1951 and 2020 were validated using temperature trends from ground station-based observations in Turkey. The investigation included datasets obtained over 540 stations, and the seasonality and spatio-temporal variability of the trend accuracy was also investigated. On average, the trends of observations over all stations were 0.82 degrees C/decade and 0.30 degrees C/decade for the periods 2001-2020 and 1951-2020, respectively, indicating strong evidence of climate change. When the model datasets used spatially and temporally continuous datasets, the trends identified were 0.91 degrees C/decade and 0.21 degrees C/decade over the entire Turkey for the years 2001-2020 and 1951-2020, respectively. The difference in the 70-year trends of the two esti-mates was attributed to the missing datasets in observations. The differences between the trends of model estimates and observations were higher for the first decade than for the last two decades, stressing the impact of improved model estimates over time. All products showed heavy seasonality, suggesting that winter trends (1.3 degrees C/decade on average) are much higher than the summer (0.3 degrees C/decade) between 2001 and 2020. The prepared titanates were calcined, followed by protonation to produce TiO2 nanostructures having enhanced photocatalytic and photovoltaic properties. The synthesized TiO2 1D nanostructures were characterized using field-emission scanning electron microscope, high-resolution electron microscope, X-ray diffraction analysis, and UV-Vis photospectroscopy to understand the effect of initial TiO2 phase on morphological and crystallographic features, and bandgap. Methylene blue degradation test was applied to evaluate the photoactivity of the products obtained after different stages of the process. The findings indicate that 1D TiO2 nanostructures form by different mechanisms from dissolved aggregates during hydrothermal process, depending on the crystal structure of the initial precursor used. LIBS experiments were performed to examine the Na at 589 nm to quantify NaCl. A series of standard bread sample pellets containing various concentrations of NaCl (0.025-3.5%) were used to construct the calibration curves and to determine the detection limits of the measurements. Calibration graphs were drawn to indicate functions of NaCl and Na concentrations, which showed good linearity in the range of 0.025-3.5% NaCl and 0.01-1.4% Na concentrations with correlation coefficients (R-2) values greater than 0.98 and 0.96. The obtained detection limits for NaCl and Na were 175 and 69 ppm, respectively. Performed experimental studies showed that LIBS is a convenient method for commercial bakery products to quantify NaCl concentrations as a rapid and in situ technique. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. It was also investigated whether the mirror neuron system activity is muscle-specific. Fourteen healthy volunteers were enrolled in the study. EMG recordings were taken from the right first dorsal interosseous and the abductor digiti minimi muscles. There was a significant main effect of TMS timing (after the beginning of the movement, at the beginning of motor output state, and during black screen) on the mean motor evoked potential (MEP) amplitude. Mean MEP amplitudes for AO combined with MI were significantly higher than pure AO session. There was a significant interaction between session and TMS timing. There was no significant main effect of muscle on MEP amplitude. The results indicate that corticomotor excitability is modulated by different phases of the observed motor movement and this modulation is not muscle-specific. The electrical resistivity, charge carrier density and Hall mobility data for the crystals have been analyzed by means of existing theories and models to determine the extrinsic energy levels, the carrier effective mass, the donor and acceptor concentrations and the dominant scattering mechanism in the crystal as well. The analysis of the temperature-dependent electrical resistivity recorded parallel and perpendicular to the crystal's axis ( c-axis) reflected the existence of energy levels located at 0.26 and at 0.20 eV, respectively. The difference of these two energy levels is due to crystal anisotropy. The energy level at 0.26 eV was found to represent an acceptor level, as confirmed from Hall data analysis. The temperature dependence of the carrier density was analyzed by using the single-donor-single-acceptor model. The latter analysis revealed the carrier effective mass and the acceptor and donor concentrations as 0.73m(0), 4.10 x 10(17) cm(-3) and 1.20 x 10(17) cm(-3), respectively. The Hall mobility of TlGaTe2 is found to be limited by the scattering of hole-acoustic phonon interactions. The calculated theoretical mobility fits to the experimental one under the condition that the acoustic deformation potential is 11.0 eV, which is the energy position of the top of valence band maximum that is formed by the Te 5s states.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 5Analyzing Two Decades of Intimate Partner Femicide-Suicides in T?rkiye*(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2023) Cavlak, Mehmet; Odabasi, Aysun Balseven; Mutlu, Niluefer Dilara Ar; Erbaydar, Nueket PaksoyIntimate partner femicide-suicide (IPF-S) is an understudied subgroup of homicide-suicide deaths. Limited research has been conducted on IPF-Ss in the Eastern Mediterranean region. This study thus aimed to evaluate the characteristics of IPF-Ss that occurred in Turkiye between 2000 and 2019. IPF-Ss (n = 226) were extracted from electronic news stories. Data on victims, perpetrators, their relationships, and incidents of murder and suicide were collected. Descriptive statistics were calculated, and logistic regression analysis, mortality rates, and proportion of IPF-S in femicide calculations were conducted, showing that 13.3% of the femicides (n = 1699) were IPF-Ss. The IPF-Ss increased in 5-year intervals and were the highest during the 2015-2019 period (62.5%). Victims were married in 48.2% of the cases and 56% were aged <35 years, while 51.3% of the perpetrators were married and 52.6% were aged >40 years. In 42.0% of the cases, the perpetrator lived with the victim. Most (79.2%) of the cases took place in urban settlements, and the perpetrators used firearms in 84.1% of femicide cases. Firearm use was the most common method in cases where IPF-S was planned (OR = 2.98), when the IPF-S method was the same (OR = 29.6), and when the perpetrator committed suicide (OR = 7.82). In addition, it was found that firearm ownership is an important risk factor for IPF-S in Turkiye. The aim of utilizing a core-shell fibrous scaffold with PCL as core and chitosan as shell was to combine natural biocompatibility, biodegradability and antibacterial properties of chitosan with mechanical properties and resistance to enzymatic degradation of PCL. The scaffolds were prepared with the optimized parameters, obtained from our previous study. Thickness and contact angle measurements as well as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analyses confirmed repeated fabrication of PCL-chitosan core-shell scaffolds. In this study, assays specific to wound dressing materials, such as water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), in vitro degradability and antibacterial tests were carried out. WVTR value of PCL-chitosan core-shell scaffolds was higher (2315 +/- 3.4 g/m(2).day) compared to single PCL scaffolds (1654 +/- 3.2 g/m(2).day) due to the higher inter-fiber pore size. Additionally, in vitro degradability assays showed that the susceptibility of chitosan to enzymatic degradation can be significantly improved by hybridization with more resistant PCL while still keeping the scaffold to be considered as biodegradable. Finally, inhibition ratio and inhibition zone measurements showed that the PCL-chitosan core-shell polymeric scaffolds had significant antibacterial performance (52.860 +/- 2.298% and 49.333 +/- 0.719% inhibition ratios; 13.975 +/- 0.124 mm and 12.117 +/- 0.133 mm clear inhibition zones, against E. coli and S. aureus, respectively), close to the native chitosan. The relative lack of facilities, skills, funds and information on existing e-Health initiatives has affected progress on e-Health in Africa. Objectives: To review publicly available literature on e-Health in sub-Saharan Africa (sSA) towards providing information on existing and ongoing e-Health initiatives in the region. Methods: Searches of relevant literature were conducted on Medline, EMBASE and Global Health, with search dates set from 1990 to 2016. We included studies on e-Health initiatives (prototypes, designs, or completed projects) targeting population groups in sSA. Results: Our search returned 2322 hits, with 26 studies retained. Included studies were conducted in 14 countries across the four sub-regions in sSA (Central, East, South and West) and spreading over a 12-year period, 2002-2014. Six types of e-Health interventions were reported, with 17 studies (65%) based on telemedicine, followed by mHealth with 5 studies (19%). Other e-Health types include expert system, electronic medical records, e-mails, and online health module. Specific medical specialties covered include dermatology (19%), pathology (12%) and radiology (8%). Successes were 'widely reported' (representing 50% overall acceptance or positive feedbacks in a study) in 10 studies (38%). The prominent challenges reported were technical problems, poor inter net and connectivity, participants' selection biases, contextual issues, and lack of funds. Conclusion: E-Health is evolving in sSA, but with poorly published evidence. While we call for more quality research in the region, it is also important that population-wide policies and on-going e-Health initiatives are contextually feasible, acceptable, and sustainable.Conference Object Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 5Assessment of Nitrogen Excess in an Agricultural Area Using a Nitrogen Balance Approach(I W A Publishing, 2005) Muhammetoglu, H; Muhammetoglu, A; Soyupak, SA pilot study has been initiated to develop an approach for quantification of nitrogen excesses from agricultural activities that involve greenhouse farming in Kumluca Plain, Turkey. Detailed calculations utilizing the nitrogen balance method (NBM) were carried out at nine different locations within the plain over a time period of one year. The major contributing factors and governing operative mechanisms taken into consideration were nitrogen application rates both as organic and chemical fertilizers, irrigation water to application practices, and nitrogen uptake by plants. The adopted approach yielded valuable information such as plant nitrogen uptake efficiencies, excess nitrogen, leaching rates and leachate nitrogen concentrations. Further, a site specific multiple linear regression model has been developed to estimate the ratio (N-leachate/N-groundwater) as a function of independent variables: farming age, excess nitrogen application and SEEPAGE Index Number. The negative sign of the model parameters implies that the ratio (N-leachate/N-groundwater) decreases as values of the independent variables increase. This study examined the changes in hydration status, body composition and body mass alterations during the camping period a pre world championship, World (N.=14) and National (N.=38) senior wrestlers (N.=52) preparing for the World Championships. Methods. Urine specific gravity, conductivity and color measurements with, body composition analyses were conducted at the beginning of the camp and the end of the camp. Results. In general, no significant differences were obtained between the world and national wrestlers in body mass and fat percentage (83.3 +/- 20-84.9 +/- 18 kg; 12 +/- 6%-11.2 +/- 4%, respectively). However, a significant difference was detected in the changes of body mass between groups (world decreased [800 +/- 1 g] - national increased [600 +/- 1 g] [P<0.05]). Body fat percentage was also observed to have a similar bias with a decrease and increase, but the changes were not significantly different (P>0.05). No significant differences (P>0.05) were observed between pre- and post-test values of urine specific gravity, conductivity or color for both national team wrestlers. Conclusion. Wrestlers achieved to adjust to weight category in a close of period through competition weigh in. Dehydration training programs should be sustained during the whole camp seasons including the last days before the weighing process for matches.Article The Association Between Digital Device Usage Behaviors and the Incidence of De Quervain's Tenosynovitis Among University Students(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2025) Jamil, Yusuf; Oktem, Hale; Sever, Sinem NurBackgroundThe extensive use of mobile and digital devices has been implicated in various musculoskeletal disorders, including de Quervain's tenosynovitis (dQD), a condition affecting the thumb. PurposeThe present study investigates the relationship between digital device usage patterns and the prevalence of dQD among university students. MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted with 508 participants (255 females and 253 males), collecting data on daily device use time, wrist positions, hand dominance, and stretching practices via a questionnaire. Data collection was carried out through a supervised, face-to-face survey. Diagnosis of dQD was determined using Finkelstein's test, all data were analyzed using SPSS software. ResultsOut of 508 participants, 187 (36.8%) tested positive for dQD, with 152 (95.6)% occurring in the dominant hand (p = .006, Cram & eacute;r's $\upsilon $upsilon = 0.121). 250 participants used their devices with wrists in ulnar deviation (49.2%), which was strongly linked to a positive Finkelstein test result (p = .004, Cram & eacute;r's $\upsilon $upsilon = 0.175). Finkelstein's test showed increasing positivity with device use, ranging from 12.5% for < 2 hours to 46.2% for >= 8 hours, with a statistically significant association (p < .001, Cram & eacute;r's $\upsilon $upsilon = 0.234). Device usage varied, with the highest test positivity rates among those using devices 6-8 hours per day suggesting a significant association with dQD (p = .001). No significant relationship was found between dQD and the practice of stretching or relieving movements (p = .146). Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate respiratory functions, pain tolerance, and body awareness in patients with OLD and compare these findings with those of healthy individuals. Methods: The study included 33 patients and 30 healthy individuals. The respiratory function (spirometer), respiratory muscle strength (mouth pressure device), endurance (threshold loading device), pain level and tolerance (short-form McGill Pain Questionnaire and algometer), posture, and body awareness (Body Awareness Questionnaire-BAQ) were evaluated. Results: The pain threshold and tolerance of the biceps, triceps, trapezius, and quadriceps muscles were significantly lower and BAQ scores were higher in patients with OLD compared with healthy individuals (p < .05). There was a significant relationship between FEV1 (%) and pain tolerance of the triceps (r = 0.371, p = .047) and gastrocnemius muscles (r = 0.419, p = .024); FVC (%) and pain threshold of the gastrocnemius (r = 0.413, p = .023), triceps muscles (r = 0.394, p = .034), and pain tolerance of the gastrocnemius muscle (r = 0.549, p = .002). Conclusions: Patients with OLD have a marked increase in pain perception and body awareness levels and a decrease in pain threshold and tolerance compared with healthy controls. Future studies should assess the effectiveness of pain management interventions as a part of pulmonary rehabilitation for patients with chronic respiratory diseases. The compounds have chemiluminescent properties and glow in the presence of hydrogen peroxide in basic medium. The intensity of the glow can be increased dramatically by using Fe3+ ions, hemin (1.0 ppm) or blood samples (1.0 ppm) as catalyst. The compounds 5 and 6 have one well-defined irreversible oxidation peak at 1.08 V and 1.33 V vs Ag/AgCl, respectively. Electrochemical polymerization of both 5 and 6 were carried out successfully by repeating potential scanning in the presence of BF3. Et2O in an electrolyte solution of 0.1 M LiClO4 dissolved in acetonitrile. The electronic band gaps (E-g) of the polymers P5 and P6 were found to be 2.02 eV and 2.16 eV, respectively. Given this fact, it is important to understand psychological and social correlates of homophobia. With this purpose, the present study investigates attachment styles, openness to experience, and social contact in relation to attitudes toward homosexuals. The findings show that being female, having prior contact with homosexuals, and scoring high in openness to experience predict more favorable attitudes toward homosexuals. The supplementary analyses also support the moderating effect of secure attachment on the relationship between openness to experience and attitudes toward homosexuals. Methods The data of pediatric patients who underwent autologous stem cell mobilization and apheresis between January 2011 and April 2020 were analyzed retrospectively. Results We studied retrospectively 64 mobilization and apheresis procedures in 48 pediatric patients (34 males, 14 females), mean age of 7.31 +/- 5.38 (range, 1.5-19.7) years, the underlying disease was mostly neuroblastoma (NBL). The body weight of 21 patients (43.75%) was 15 kg or less. The targeted autologous peripheral stem cell apheresis (APSCA) was successfully achieved in 98% of patients. Neuroblastoma patients were younger than the rest of the patients and underwent apheresis after receiving fewer chemotherapy cycles than others and all of them mobilized within the first session successfully. Plerixafor was added to mobilization in nine heavily pretreated patients (18.7%), median two doses (range, 1-4 doses). 11 patients (22.9%) underwent radiotherapy (RT) before mobilization with doses of median 24 Gy (range, 10.8-54.0 Gy). Patients with RT were older at the time of apheresis and had received more chemotherapy courses than patients without RT. As a result, patients with a history of RT had significantly lower peripheral CD34+ cells and CD34+ yields than those without RT. In 17 patients (35.4%), 22 different complications were noted. The most common complications were catheter-related infections (n:10, 20.8%), followed by catheter-related thrombosis in eight patients (16.7%). Conclusions Patients who had far less therapy before apheresis were more likely to mobilize successfully. Our study provides a detailed practice approach including complications during APSCA aiming to increase the success rates of apheresis in transplantation centers.Article Citation - WoS: 0Automatic Control of Hypothalamus-Pituitary Axis Dynamics(Elsevier Ireland Ltd, 2019) Doruk, R. Methods: Control approaches are implemented on a novel second order nonlinear system which accepts adrenocorticotropin hormone as an input and models the variation of plasma concentrations of adrenocorticotropin and cortisol respectively. The control methods are based on back-stepping and input-output feedback linearization techniques. The controllers adjust the adrenocorticotropin injection to maintain the daily rhythm of the cortisol concentration. In accordance with the periodicity of biological clock mechanism, we provide a sinusoidally varying cortisol reference to the controllers. Results: Numerical simulations are performed (on MATLAB) to demonstrate the closed loop performance of the controllers. Major concerns in the selection of the control gains are chattering and negative concentration in responses. The simulation results showed that one can successfully find gain levels which do not lead to those issues. However, the gains lie in different ranges for back-stepping and feedback linearization based controllers. Conclusion: The results showed that, both back-stepping and feedback linearization based controllers fulfilled their duty of synchronization of the cortisol concentration to a reference daily periodic rhythm. This study investigates mother- and infant-related characteristics affecting parenting styles in the first year after birth. Additionally, adapting an Infancy Parenting Styles Questionnaire (IPSQ) to Turkish is aimed. In total, 110 mothers with babies in the first year of their lives (M age in months = 6.39, SDage in months = 3.72; 70 girls) participated in the study. Mothers filled out the IPSQ, Early Parenting Attitudes Questionnaire (EPAQ), Karitane Parental Self-Confidence Scale (KPSC), and Parental Stress Index-Short Form (PSI-SF). Four components emerged: involvement, discipline, anxiety, and routine. The IPSQ was found to be reliable (alpha = .81) and valid. The findings revealed that income, the number of children, and parental confidence were significant predictors for involvement; maternal education, parental confidence, parenting stress, and sleep wellness of the baby were significant predictors for discipline; and the number of caregivers and parental confidence were significant predictors for routine sub-components. Also, results indicated higher involvement and lower discipline in primiparous compared to multiparous mothers. The findings were discussed in light of the literature regarding the antecedents of parenting and its developmental outcomes.
