Public Finance
(2015)
As an interdisciplinary area powered by economy, law and accounting, “The Department of Finance” aims to train experts in the field with unique courses such as “Public Finance”, “Turkish Tax System” and “Budgeting and Public Funding”. Atılım University opened the Department of Financing in the academic year of 2015-2016, becoming the first foundation university to open the department. With our competent staff, our Department grew and ranked the 6th in the list of department base points in its field. Thesis and non-thesis Finance - Tax Graduate Programs, started in 2019, constitute the first department under a such name with the aim to offer studies in the field of tax. We see Finance as a state tradition, and as a social science that shall always follow the changing era. As long as states take loans, and takes are collected, there will be a need for well-equipped experts of Finance.

Economics
(1997)
Founded in 1997, the Department of Economics is among the founding departments of our University. The Department offers two extensive undergraduate programs, either in English or in Turkish. Our undergraduate programs are catered to developing our students’ skills of analytical thinking, and to practical education. In this regard, the Social Sciences Research and Training Laboratory, founded under the guidance of our department, offers hands-on training to our own students, students and academicians from other universities, and public institutions. Our Department also offers a Graduate Degree Program in Applied Economy and a Doctorate Degree Program in Political Economy for graduates of undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

International Trade and Logistics
Commonly paired with the term logistics, international trade is an irreplaceable, ever-developing element that even pioneers theory with its practices. International trade and logistics is a field that involves developing areas of commerce such as “E-Commerce” and utilizes state-of-the-art technology. As we all know, E-Commerce reaches a volume of trillions of dollars due to special days and celebrations; whereas logistics is what fleshes it out. In addition, while e-commerce gains popularity during the global Covid-19 outbreak, logistics is what deems storage, transportation and customs duties possible. At our Department, the education is offered in English with a program and a staff that grasp development; in addition to hands-on training at our simulation center. Assigning expert academicians and instructors, the department grants the opportunity to make observations in turkey or abroad, every year and in each semester. Similarly, our Department sends students to Erasmus programs, every year. Thus, our graduates are never unemployed. Maintaining our state of being “the only”, “the first”, “and the best” in education, social life, and sports..

Abstract

This study examines the long-run aspects of fiscal policy on inflation in T & uuml;rkiye, using a multivariate co-integration approach with quarterly data from 2006Q1 to 2024Q2. A key contribution of the study lies in its emphasis on the long-run dynamics between various budgetary policy instruments and inflation. We find no significant long-run relationship between inflation and fiscal policy measured at the aggregate level such as budget balance, total expenditures, and revenues. However, examining the specific components, we find statistically significant long-run positive relationships between inflation and indirect taxes - particularly the special consumption tax - and operational government expenditures. Recursive estimates suggest that the relationship between inflation and fiscal instruments has strengthened since 2021 when T & uuml;rkiye started to experience a high inflation episode diverging from global inflation trends with a deterioration in public finance performance. These findings align with the fiscal theory of price level, as the theory implies that persistent fiscal deficits without credible plans for future surpluses can lead to sustained inflationary pressures.
