Project Abstract
Transition is today’s debate in relatively every single scientific discipline and when it comes to sustainability transition and superior performance within industrial environment, it rises the crucial role of innovation for business models. This research proposal, therefore, through highlighting the challenges towards sustainability transitions, and highlighting existing gap towards business models, sustainable business models, business model innovation, and sustainable business model innovation (SBMI) attempts to discusses about the fundamental theories behind the concept. Moreover, this study through multiple case studies, all from manufacturing industries but varies in sectors and located in Turkey, proposes following objective to further the understandings about sustainability transition via sustainable business model innovation: 1) Deliver unified perspective for sustainable business model innovation through its classification and characterization. 2) Understand the role of innovation in improvement of sustainable business model and sustainability transition. 3) Identify key drivers to, and barriers for SBMI. 4) Plot a conceptual frame work to assess business models and recognizing key stakeholders according to the goals and value creation abilities in the business model. And finally aims to propose a basis for experimentation and exposes the potential benefits of using simulation for the design and evaluation of business model innovation alternatives to address firm’s challenge in assessing innovation of their business models and adopt the adequate one.
