    RFID kullanarak yer bulma algoritması
    (2011) Özyurt, Erdem; Aydın, Elif; Aydın, Elif; Yapıcı, A. Çağrı; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering
    Bu tez çalışmasında gezgin robota RFID etiket yerleştirilmiş ve okuyucu antenleri ise iç mekan etrafına dizilmiştir. Gezgin robotun pasif UHF RFID etiket taşıyor olması ağırlık yönünden avantaj sağladığı gibi batarya ömrü açısından da verimi artırmaktadır. Ayrıca, hareketli cismin sayısının artırılması durumunda donanım bakımından sadece düşük maliyetli pasif RFID etiket sayısının artırılması yeterli olacaktır. Geliştirilen tekniklerde elektromanyetik teori yanı sıra sinyal işleme teknikleri de kullanılmıştır. Anten dizisi kullanımıyla genlik karşılaştırma sağlanmıştır.Bu çalışmada sistemin uygulanabilirliğini gösterecek prototip tasarlanmış ve pilot uygulama yapılmıştır.

    Distance Laboratory Applications ERRL: A Study on Radio Communication in Electronic Field
    (Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment, 2008) Özyurt, Erdem; Aydın, Elif; Çağıltay, Nergiz; Çağıltay, Nergiz; Özbek, Efe; Alparslan, Ceren; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; Software Engineering
    In the last decade, the effect of internet usage in education is gradually increased. When we look from academic perspective, the new technologies provided alternatives for students learning. As distance education becomes important everyday, the indispensable elements of teaching and education, laboratories must be reachable via remote connection. Consequently, the education that is going to be given to the students will be more flexible with respect to place and time constraints and students can reach laboratory facilities at any time and anywhere not only in lectures and practical hours. In this study, European Remote Radio Laboratory (ERRL) which is a distance remote Radio Frequency (RF) laboratory designed for electrical-electronics students, is described generally. The software architecture, infrastructure and experiment that can be done with a remote connection have been described.

    Dikgen frekans-bölmeli çoğullama sisteminin tepe ortalama güç oranını ton enjeksiyonu ile benzetimsel tavlama algoritması kullanarak düşürülmesi ve bir yazılım tanımlı radyo sistemi üzerinde uygulaması
    (2016) Özyurt, Erdem; Aydın, Ramazan; Aydın, Ramazan; Doruk, Reşat Özgür; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering
    Dikgen frekans-bölmeli çoğullama (OFDM) popüler bir geniş-bant çok taşıyıcılı haberleşme tekniğidir; semboller arası ve taşıyıcılar arası girişime karşı dirençlidir, bununla birlikte işaretin yüksek Tepe Ortalama Güç Oranı'na (PAPR) sahip olması nedeniyle doğrusal olmayan bozulmalar sonucu sistem verimini düşürmektedir. Bu çalışmada, farklı ton sayılarına sahip işaretlerin PAPR değerini düşürmek için benzetimsel tavlama optimizasyon algoritması ile ton enjeksiyonu tekniği kullanılmıştır ve gerekli olan iterasyon sayısını azaltmak için iç eşik değeri kullanılmıştır. Benzetim sonuçları diğer teknikler ile karşılaştırılmış ve önerilen tekniğin OFDM sistemlerinin PAPR değerlerini düşürmek için kullanılabileceği görülmüştür. Tasarlanan sistem Yazılım Tanımlı Radyo (SDR) üzerinde uygulanmış ve ölçümler sonucunda doğrusal olmayan etkilerin azaltıldığı gösterilmiştir.

    Design and fabrication of Ka band circular horn antenna;
    (2012) Özyurt, Erdem; Kara, Ali; Özyurt,E.; Kara,A.; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering
    In this paper, design and fabrication of a circular horn antenna is presented. The antenna is designed for experimental use at Ka band. The design process includes feeding structure for coaxial line and geometrical parameters of the antenna. The bandwidth of the antenna is measured as 2.25GHz, (S 11 ≤-10dB) which satisfies the requirements of targeted experimental study. A reference monopole is also designed for the measurements of antenna parameters. Antenna radiation pattern is measured with the reference monopole antenna using a VNA (S12) instead of typical signal generator/spectrum analyzer pair. Accuracy of antenna parameters along with the errors made in fabrication process is also discussed in the paper. © 2012 IEEE.

    An algorithm for passive RFID based location estimation;
    (IEEE Computer Society, 2014) Özyurt, Erdem; Aydın, Elif; Yapıcı, Alparslan Çağrı; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance
    In this study, an indoor localization system is developed for the mobile robots. The localization system consists of a passive RFID tag and a reader. The passive RFID tag is placed on the robot and reader antennas are spatially dispersed into the room. For the localization, Selective Adaptive Weighted Centroid Localization (SAWCL) algorithm is used. Performance of the localization system is evaluated for the different tags. © 2014 IEEE.

    Indoor location finding algorithms for mobile robots carrying passive RFID tags
    (2012) Özyurt, Erdem; Aydın, Elif; Yapıcı, Alparslan Çağrı; Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering; Airframe and Powerplant Maintenance
    Precise localization of mobile robots is critical issue in military, industrial and show business applications. In the literature, several localization techniques has been proposed, in which reader is carried by the mobile object. But in this study a passive Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag is attached to mobile robot and the reader antennas being dispersed around the environment. This novelty protects the mobile robot from an increase of weight and results in saving in battery consumption. Also by this way, an increase in mobile object requires a mere increase in low cost passive RFID tags in the navigation system. We have applied a signal pattern matching algorithm, Weighted Centroid Localization (WCL) and Selective Adaptive Weighted Localization (SAWCL) algorithms to locate the tag via Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and we compare the results. In this study a pilot application is implemented and a prototype is developed to show the proof of concept of the system. © 2012 IEEE.
