Organizational Unit Aerospace Engineering(2020)Turkey has made a significant progress in terms of aerospace and defense industries. The Atılım University Department of Aerospace Engineering opens to students in the Academic Year of 2020-2021, with the aim to train qualified engineers as required in the ever-developing aerospace industry. This department is a field of engineering that focuses on the R&D, design, manufacturing, testing and performance processes of aircraft such as planes, choppers, or rockets; as well as satellites, and other kinds of spacecraft. Located in Ankara where much of the work related to the aerospace studies takes place, our School is to offer common projects and long-term opportunities for internship studies with many companies in the industry. Our academic staff involves faculty members who are experienced in teaching aerospace engineering, as well as experts in the field after having worked in many projects in the defense industry, in addition to offering consulting. Backed with our state-of-the-art laboratories, our curriculum is to offer students a chance to acquire the skills and know-hows to advance Turkey in the sector. We aim to implement a hands-on approach in education by training our students with our aircraft in our hangar at Esenboğa Airport. We aim to provide them with a practical training, and a constant opportunity to touch, feel, and experience the aircraft, from the first year. Our focus is to have students experience the process of R&D, from the designing stage to prototype manufacturing. Our course content, devised to match the current needs of the sector, shall make it possible for our students to find employment in their fields of competence and interest.Organizational Unit Architecture(2009)The Atılım University School of Architecture was founded in 2009. As for the number of students, our School is a medium-sized one, as is the case with many others in Europe. As a profession the expectation for which is to deal with people, society and environment in many aspects, architecture requires a similarly sophisticated education. In the Undergraduate Program at the Department of Architecture, we are working to establish such sophistication within the balance of theory and practice. Following the Integrated Doctorate Program that opened in 2010 for undergraduate and graduate alumni, the Thesis and Project Programs at Graduate Levels were opened in 2018. The self-evaluation studies of the Department that are run in coordination with the intra-evaluation and strategy studies of Atılım University are performed in relation to the external evaluations by the Architectural Accrediting Board (MİAK). The Department of Architecture is a member of the “European Association for Architectural Education” (EAAE).Organizational Unit Organizational Unit Automotive Engineering(2009)Having started education in 2009, the Atılım university Department of Automotive Engineering offers an academic environment at international standards, with its education in English, a contemporary curriculum and ever-better and ever-developing laboratory opportunities. In addition to undergraduate degree education, the graduate program of multi-disciplinary mechanical engineering offers the opportunity for graduate and doctorate degree education automotive engineering. The Atılım University Automotive Engineering has been selected to be the best in Turkey in 2020 in the field of automotive engineering with studies in energy efficiency, motor performance, active/ passive automotive security and vehicle dynamics conducted in the already-existing laboratories of its own. Our graduates are employed at large-scale companies that operate in Turkey, such as Isuzu, Ford Otosan, Hattat, Honda, Hyundai, Karsan, Man, Mercedes-Benz, Otokar, Renault, Temsa, Tofaş, Toyota, Türk Traktör, Volkswagen (to start operation in 2020). In addition, our graduates have been hired at institutions such as Tübitak, Tai, Aselsan, FNSS, Ministry of National Defence, Tcdd etc. or at supplier industries in Turkey. Due to the recent evolution undergone by the automotive industry with the development of electric, hybrid and autonomous vehicle technologies, automotive engineering has gained popularity, and is becoming ever more exhilarating. In addition to combustion engine technologies, our students also gain expertise in these fields. The “Formula Student Car” contest organized since 2011 by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) where our Department ranked third globally in 2016 is one of the top projects conducted by our department where we value hands-on training. Our curriculum, updated in 2020, focuses on computer calculation and simulation courses, as well as laboratory practice, catered to modern automotive technologies.Organizational Unit Basic Sciences(2019)Organizational Unit Business(2002)We are a department that has been active for 22 years with the goal to determine the structural changes in economy and the problems of general business administration, to develop problem solving skills and to devise modelling techniques that fit our aims. Among our cornerstones are to graduate more students into administrative positions of our institutions, to help them realize their inner potential to be go-getters, to prepare them for the entrance exams for high-tier, well-respected public positions, and to help them participate graduate and doctorate degree programs at ease, nationally or internationally. In this regard, our course curriculum is constantly subject to updates. In addition, we do all in our power to graduate students that stand out, with double-major program opportunities. We make an effort to aid our students in kick-starting their professional life after completing a period of one semester at Private - Public institutions within the framework of our Cooperative Education Program.Organizational Unit Business (English)(2002)We are a department that has been active for 22 years with the goal to determine the structural changes in economy and the problems of general business administration, to develop problem solving skills and to devise modelling techniques that fit our aims. We make an effort to aid our students in kick-starting their professional life after completing a period of one semester at Private - Public institutions within the framework of our Cooperative Education Program.Organizational Unit Chemical Engineering(2010)Established in 2010, and aiming to train the students with the capacity to meet the demands of the 21st Century, the Chemical Engineering Department provides a sound chemistry background through intense coursework and laboratory practices, along with fundamental courses such as Physics and Mathematics within the freshman and sophomore years, following preparatory English courses.In the final two years of the program, engineering courses are offered with laboratory practice and state-of-the-art simulation programs, combining theory with practice.Organizational Unit Organizational Unit Civil Engineering(2000)The Atılım University Department of Civil Engineering was founded in 2000 as a pioneer for the Departments of Civil Engineering among the foundation schools of Ankara. It offers education in English. The Department of Civil Engineering has an academic staff qualified in all areas of the education offered. In addition to a high level of academic learning that benefits from learning opportunities through practice at its seven laboratories, the Department also offers a Cooperative Education program conducted in cooperation with renowned organizations in the construction sector. Accredited by MÜDEK (Association of Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs) (in 2018), our Department has been granted the longest period of accreditation to ever achieve through the association (six years). The accreditation is recognized by ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education), and other international accreditation boards.Organizational Unit Computer Engineering(1998)The Atılım University Department of Computer Engineering was founded in 1998. The department curriculum is prepared in a way that meets the demands for knowledge and skills after graduation, and is subject to periodical reviews and updates in line with international standards. Our Department offers education in many fields of expertise, such as software development, hardware systems, data structures, computer networks, artificial intelligence, machine learning, image processing, natural language processing, object based design, information security, and cloud computing. The education offered by our department is based on practical approaches, with modern laboratories, projects and internship programs. The undergraduate program at our department was accredited in 2014 by the Association of Evaluation and Accreditation of Engineering Programs (MÜDEK) and was granted the label EUR-ACE, valid through Europe. In addition to the undergraduate program, our department offers thesis or non-thesis graduate degree programs (MS).Organizational Unit Department of English Language and Literature(1997)Founded in 1997, the Department of English Language and Literature is one of the first Departments of Atılım University. Through the graduate and doctorate degree programs in addition to the undergraduate program, the Department raises students and academicians. At the Department of English Language and Literature, we aim to graduate students who have studied and learned the English language and literature at an advanced level and developed the skill to produce ideas; as well as the ability to do analyses and academic research on literature. In addition to granting our students with the opportunity to develop their backgrounds in general culture, the education that we offer contributes to their interest and knowledge in contemporary and current issues. Accredited for 5 years from February 24th 2019 by FEDEK, our undergraduate program grants our students the opportunity to join Double-Major or Minor programs in Translation and Interpretation, and International Relations. Another option for the students of our Department is the Erasmus Exchange Program.Organizational Unit Department of Psychology(2004)The Atılım University Department of Psychology was founded in the year 2004, and is the first Department of Psychology at the Foundation Schools of Ankara. Our undergraduate program is accredited by FEDEK (The Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of University Programs in Mathematical, Natural and Social Sciences) until 2026. The aim of the department is to raise individuals who are experienced in psychological research and practices and equipped with professional ethics and theoretical knowledge. Our department allows our students to take courses in line with their interests and career goals with our wide range of elective courses on the sub-fields of psychology.Organizational Unit Department of Social Sciences for University wide CoursesOur department offers compulsory courses “Turkish Language” and “Principles of Atatürk and History of Turkish Revolution” as envisaged by the Council of Higher Education as well as History of Civilization course to all the students at our university. Along with these compulsory courses, the department offers general elective courses comprising subjects such as social responsibility tasks, Women studies, culture and history. The purpose of compulsory Principles of Ataturk and History of Turkish Revolution course is to introduce and convey the foundation and fundamental values of the Republic of Turkey to the new generations and the objective of Turkish Language course is to study on our language with modern methods within the scope of the subjects such as language, literature, culture etc.Organizational Unit Economics(1997)Founded in 1997, the Department of Economics is among the founding departments of our University. The Department offers two extensive undergraduate programs, either in English or in Turkish. Our undergraduate programs are catered to developing our students’ skills of analytical thinking, and to practical education. In this regard, the Social Sciences Research and Training Laboratory, founded under the guidance of our department, offers hands-on training to our own students, students and academicians from other universities, and public institutions. Our Department also offers a Graduate Degree Program in Applied Economy and a Doctorate Degree Program in Political Economy for graduates of undergraduate and graduate degree programs.Organizational Unit Economics (English)(1997)Founded in 1997, the Department of Economics is among the founding departments of our University. Our Department also offers a Graduate Degree Program in Applied Economy and a Doctorate Degree Program in Political Economy for graduates of undergraduate and graduate degree programs.Organizational Unit Electrical-Electronics EngineeringThe Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering covers communications, signal processing, high voltage, electrical machines, power distribution systems, radar and electronic warfare, RF, electromagnetic and photonics topics. Most of the theoretical courses in our department are supported by qualified laboratory facilities. Our department has been accredited by MÜDEK since 2013. Within the scope of joint training (COOP), in-company training opportunities are offered to our students. 9 different companies train our students for one semester within the scope of joint education and provide them with work experience. The number of students participating in joint education (COOP) is increasing every year. Our students successfully completed the joint education program that started in the 2019-2020 academic year and started work after graduation. Our department, which provides pre-graduation opportunities to its students with Erasmus, joint education (COOP) and undergraduate research projects, has made an agreement with Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences (Austria) starting from this year and offers its students undergraduate (Atılım University) and master's (Upper Austria) degrees with 3+2 education program. Our department, which has the only European Remote Radio Laboratory in Foundation Universities, has a pioneering position in research (publication, project, patent).Organizational Unit Energy Systems Engineering(2009)The Department of Energy Systems Engineering admitted its first students and started education in the academic year of 2009-2010 under Atılım University School of Engineering. In this Department, all kinds of energy are presented in modules (conventional energy, renewable energy, hydrogen energy, bio-energy, nuclear energy, energy planning and management) from their detection, production and procession; to their transfer and distribution. A need is to arise for a surge of energy systems engineers to ensure energy supply security and solve environmental issues as the most important problems of the fifty years to come. In addition, Energy Systems Engineering is becoming among the most important professions required in our country and worldwide, especially within the framework of the European Union harmonization process, and within the free market economy.Organizational Unit English Translation and Interpretation(2001)Since 2001, our Department has offered education at an extent that matches the similar Departments of European Universities, with a program that involves theoretical and practical courses within the frameworks of translation and interpretation. The goals that we aim our students to reach involve the utilization of knowledge, behaviors and equipment, interpersonal operation in interpretation, the management of the process of production, expertise in language skills with respect to fields and general culture, and access to information. Our students have no difficulty in being hired upon graduation, having gained an awareness regarding the expectations and the conditions of the professional life through our strong cooperation with the national and the international sector. With French and Russian courses offered for 4 years, our students steal the spotlight in the market, having obtained a C-Language Certificate. Our graduates are employed as freelance interpreters, institution interpreters, regulators as multi-layered language experts, terminology experts, subtitle experts and web localization experts.Organizational Unit Fine Arts and Elective Courses(2016)The Department of Fine Arts and Elective Courses was founded under the School of Fine Arts Design and Architecture in 2016. Within the field of Fine Arts, and during our elective courses offered in English and Turkish for the undergraduate students of our University, our students learn about topics such as art history, art criticism, the relationship between art and society, cultural heritages and their protection, museums and museum studies. We contribute to the self and artistic improvement of our students through practice courses in the fields of music, theater, film, photography, dance, art, comics, statues, tile-glazing, mosaics, ceramics, elocution, rhetoric, sign language and digital art. We aim our students to gain the skills of the 21st century such as entrepreneurship, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, correct self-expression, flexibility, harmony, media and technology, self-guidance, responsibility, social and intercultural communication; through art. The courses of Theater for Entrepreneurship Skills and Creativity in Professional Life are offered in English, and are within the scope of non-elective Entrepreneurship courses.
