Abstract
Günümüzde, çeviri alanındaki iş yükünün artması ve teknolojik imkânların çoğalması ile birlikte profesyonel tercümanların makine çevirisi kullanımında artış yaşanmaktadır. Bu tezde, çevirmenlerin yapay zekâdan beslenen nöral makine çeviri aracı Google Çeviri Motoru yardımı ile tamamladığı çeviri sürecinin ön düzenleme ve son düzenleme aşamalarındaki performansları analiz edilmektedir. Bu analiz için 50 farklı tercümanın mühendislik alanındaki bir teknik metni makine çevirisi yardımı ile İngilizceden Türkçeye çevirmesi istenmiştir ve her bir tercümandan ön düzenlemeden geçirilmiş, nöral makine çeviri aracı tarafından çevrilmiş ve son düzenlemeden geçirilmiş metin çıktıları elde edilmiştir. Yapılan analiz sonucunda makine çevirisinin ön düzenleme ve son düzenleme aşamalarında tercümanların birbirlerinden farklı stratejilere başvurduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Bunun neticesinde tercümanların ön düzenleme ve son düzenleme aşamalarında tutarlı bir yaklaşım sergilemedikleri anlaşılmıştır.
Today, the use of machine translation by the professional translators has been increasing due to the increase in the workload and technological opportunities in the field of translation. In this thesis, the pre-editing and post-editing performances of the translators in the translation process completed with the assistance of the neural machine translation tool fed by artificial intelligence, the Google Translation Engine, were analyzed. For this analysis, 50 different translators were requested to translate a technical text in the field of engineering from English to Turkish with the assistance of machine translation, and a pre-edited copy, a neural machine translated copy and a post-edited copy were obtained by each of the translators. As a result of the analysis, it was found out that the translators applied different strategies during the pre-editing and post-editing processes of machine translation. Therefore, it was understood that the translators did not show a consistent approach for the pre-editing and post-editing processes.
