Abstract
Scriptures and religious texts are considered a milestone in translation studies and the process of accepting them as a discipline. Using translation studies related to scriptures and religious texts, translation has gained a new dimension and become more than only an instrument reflecting the ideas and cultures of societies, and it has started to serve as a divine goal. This mission leads to a new dimension and discipline for translation studies. Because of the sensibility in the core of scriptures and religious texts, translation has been started to be evaluated, along with culture, in the translation process to convey the message most accurately. For this reason, having regard to cultural differences, domestication has been considered necessary. Thanks to this study, it has been foreseen that the translations of scriptures and religious texts under domestication strategies help prevent any loss or ambiguity arising from cultural differences. As a method, one of the most accepted English Bible, one of the most accepted Turkish Bible, and the second one of most accepted Turkish Bible have been chosen for analysis. As a result of the study, it has pointed out that domestication has a significant impact on reducing loss and ambiguities, on providing more fluent and more understandable texts for the target audience, and on protecting the expressive and divine features of scriptures or religious texts. This study has stated that the appropriate use of domestication strategies during the translation process offers more fluent, understandable, and natural text for target audiences with various cultural perspectives.
