Abstract
The principle of non-discrimination constitutes one of the building blocks of democratic regimes and it promotes rights without discrimination on the basis of race, colour, sex, language, religion, ethnic or social origin, disability, age. Sexual orientation has been added to the list of possible areas for discrimination later on with the developments in the global Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) rights. © The Editor(s)(if applicable) and The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2022.
