| gperson.biography | N. Burak Bican earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Middle East Technical University (METU). He worked as a professional architect during his graduate studies from 2006 to 2012. As a member of the airport master planning coordination team at METU MATPUM Research Centre, he developed design principles. He also designed the LEED Platinum-certified headquarters of the large-scale consultancy company Prokon-Ekon Group, where he was employed in 2012. After starting his PhD education at METU, he moved to Copenhagen, where he conducted the main body of his study on sustainable social housing regeneration at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts (KADK). During this period, he learned Danish, participated in numerous academic and professional activities, and visited many European cities for research and inspiration. Upon completing his PhD, he established close ties with the Danish Building Research Institute (SBI/BUILD) at Aalborg University. Collaborating with senior researchers, he developed a new research project focusing on social mix in housing venues. Bican studied at SBI as a Post-doc researcher with a TUBITAK 2219 Grant. His research work was published in international academic journals. He also worked as a part-time instructor at the architectural departments of Başkent and Çankaya universities. Currently, Bican serves as a professor at Atılım University, teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. | |
