    Binary Alloy Clusters: Structures and Electronic Properties

    Synthesis, characterization, physics, and chemistry of nanoclusters have been the focus of intense attention for the last two decades. Also, their unique statues that they are between molecule and bulk material is the central reason for the theoretical researcher to understand the transition from atom to cluster/molecule and then to solid state. In this review we restrict ourselves to the recent advances in the structural and electronic properties of binary alloy clusters. This type of clusters is particularly of importance thanks to their very availability for being tuned, by changing their sizes, according to any special needs. A brief summary of the classification of clusters as well as the experimental techniques and theoretical methods to study them, and the possible applications of alloy clusters are given in the introduction part. Several binary alloy cluster types, including semiconductor, alkali and transition metal, oxide, and ionic binary alloy clusters, are widely reviewed considering extensively the most recent articles.

    On the Smco Dimer: a Detailed Density Functional Theory Analysis

    Making use of 21 different exchange-correlation functionals, we performed density functional theory calculations, within the effective core potential level, to investigate some spectroscopic and electronic features of the SmCo dimer in its ground state. A particular emphasis was placed on the (spin) multiplicity of SmCo. Most of the functionals under discussion unanimously agreed that the multiplicity of SmCo should be 10. It was observed that the nature of interaction between Sm and Co atoms to form the SmCo dirtier can be described, to a good approximation, by a Lennard-Jones curve. For the multiplicity value 10, the binding energy D, was seen to be in the range 1.08-1.77 eV, while the equilibrium separation distance and the fundamental frequency were found to be r(e) = 2.975 +/- 0.035 angstrom and omega(e) = 120 +/- 10 cm(-1), respectively.

    Bir boyutlu kuantum sistemlerde elektron iletimi

    İki ideal iletkene bağlanmış, bir boyutlu kuantum sistemlerde (veya bir boyutlu sistemlere indirgenebilen iki boyutlu sistemlerde) bir elektronun kuantum iletim problemini çalıştık. Klasik mekaniğe göre, akım kavraına yönelik en temel elektrik ve bazı diğer manyetik olguları inceledikten sonra, kuantum mekaniğin temel formalizmini verdik. Bunun için kuantum mekaniğin çalışma prensiplerini Dirac notasyonu kullanarak formüle ettik. Sonra bir boyutlu saçılma problemleri ile ilgilendik ve delta fonksiyonu içeren bazı örnekleri detaylı olarak çalıştık. Daha sonra, amonyak molekülü, hidrojen molekül iyonu ve hidrojen molekülü gibi iki durumlu kuantum sistemler üzerine yoğunlaştık. Devamında, bir elektronun bir boyutlu kristal örgü içindeki yayılımını tüm ince detayları ile araştırdık. Bir boyutlu doğrusal atom zinciri ve atom halkası yapılarının temellerini oturttuktan sonra, açıklayıcı problemler yoluyla incelediğimiz rezonant iletim konusuna geldik. Ardından ise Aharonov-Bohm (AB) halkalarının matematik ve fiziğini verdik; bunun için, elektromanyetik alan içinde hareket eden yüklü bir parçacıkla ilgili klasik Lagrange ve Hamilton dinamikleri ve bununla alakalı ayar dönüştürme konularına dokunduk. Son olarak, bir boyutlu kuantum sistemlerin iletim özelliklerini elde edebilmek için, zamandan bağımsız Schrödinger denklemini, iki noktadan yinelemeli başka bir denkleme çeviren, 'Ricatti oranlar yöntemi' olarak adlandırılan bir budama/kesme tekniğinin nasıl kullanılacağını gösterdik. Bu yöntemi, basit bir seyreltme/kaldırma tekniği yardımı ile, sonuçları iyi bilinen bazı bir boyutlu sistemlerde ve ayrıca tekli ve çiftli AB halkalarında test ettik.

    Bir ve iki boyutlu düzlemsel yapılar üzerine konulmuş yüklerin dağılımları

    Bu çalışmada bir boyutlu ve iki boyutlu düzlemsel geometrik yapılar üzerine konulmuş klasik noktasal yüklerin dağılım ve enerji özelliklerini inceledik. Yükler 1/r tipinde bir Coulomb alanı etkisi altındadırlar. Problemin fiziği ile ilgili kısa bir giris¸ bölümünden sonra, konu hakkında oldukça detaylı bir literatür araştırması sunduk. Bunu problemin sayısal ve analitik çözümlerine yönelik yaklaşımlar izledi. Sonra, bir kare, bir disk, bir ellips, ve iki boyutlu bir elipsoit üzerine yerleşirilmiş yüklerin en düşük enerjili dağılımları hakkındaki çalışmalarımızın sonuçlarını oldukça detaylı bir şekilde verdik. Bu çalışmadaki sayısal sonuçlar, basit bir Monte-Carlo yaklaşımını da içeren kuvvet küçülltme yöntemi kullanarak yazılmış simülasyonlardan elde edilmişlerdir.

    Minimum-Energy Distribution of Point Charges Confined To a Square

    The minimum-energy configurations of N(2 <= N <= 160) identical classical point charges confined within a square under the effect of a Coulombic 1/r potential have been determined by performing steepest-descent simulations. The energies of the final optimized configurations are given, along with their corresponding structural charge distributions. When all systems evolve in time to reach a minimum-energy configuration, local or global, they are all seen to be in quest of symmetry.

    Group 12 Elements and Their Small Clusters: Electric Dipole Polarizability of Zn, Cd and Hg, Zn2 Dimer and Higher Znn< Microclusters and Neutral, Cationic and Anionic Zinc Oxide Molecules (zno, Zno+ and Zno-)

    This review is in general about group 12 elements and their small microclusters. In this part, after presenting an extensive literature survey of the electric dipole polarizability studies of the Zn, Cd and Hg atoms, we specifically target zinc-containing small clusters, beginning with the Zn-2 dimer, the Zn-3 trimer, higher Zn-n clusters and the neutral, cationic and anionic zinc oxide clusters: ZnO, ZnO+ and ZnO-. We tabulated experimental and theoretical results for the spectroscopic constants (dissociation energy D-e or D-0, bond length r(e), fundamental frequency w(e), anharmonicity constant w(e)x(e) and dipole moment mu(e)) of the diatomic clusters and the first and second ionization potentials IP1 and IP2 and electron affinity EA of the species reviewed.
