Article Citation - WoS: 9Citation - Scopus: 22Anomaly Detection Using Fuzzy Q-Learning Algorithm(Budapest Tech, 2014) Shamshirband, Shahaboddin; Anuar, Nor Badrul; Kiah, Miss Laiha Mat; Misra, Sanjay; Computer EngineeringWireless networks are increasingly overwhelmed by Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks by generating flooding packets that exhaust critical computing and communication resources of a victim's mobile device within a very short period of time. This must be protected. Effective detection of DDoS attacks requires an adaptive learning classifier, with less computational complexity, and an accurate decision making to stunt such attacks. In this paper, we propose an intrusion detection system called Fuzzy Q-learning (FQL) algorithm to protect wireless nodes within the network and target nodes from DDoS attacks to identify the attack patterns and take appropriate countermeasures. The FQL algorithm was trained and tested to establish its performance by generating attacks from the NSL-KDD and CAIDA DDoS Attack datasets during the simulation experiments. Experimental results show that the proposed FQL IDS has higher accuracy of detection rate than Fuzzy Logic Controller and Q-learning algorithm alone.Article Citation - WoS: 7Citation - Scopus: 14An Evaluation of Ict Infrastructure and Application in Nigeria Universities(Budapest Tech, 2014) Egoeze, Fidelis; Misra, Sanjay; Akman, Ibrahim; Colomo-Palacios, Ricardo; Computer EngineeringThe need for adequate ICT infrastructure/facility in higher education institutions cannot be overemphasized, even as availability and utilization of these facilities are at times the indices for rating universities. In this descriptive survey study, ICT infrastructure and the extent of usage in Nigeria universities were investigated. Questionnaire was the instrument used for gathering information and based on related literature. A total of 452 respondents comprised of students, lecturers and administrators randomly selected from a total of 15 universities from different regions of Nigeria participated. Data collected were analyzed using mean statistic analysis and analysis of variance (ANOVA).Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 4Multi-Paradigm Metric and Its Applicability on Java Projects(Budapest Tech, 2013) Misra, Sanjay; Cafer, Ferid; Akman, Ibahim; Fernandez-Sanz, LuisJAVA is one of the favorite languages amongst software developers. However, the numbers of specific software metrics to evaluate the JAVA code are limited In this paper, we evaluate the applicability of a recently developed multi paradigm metric to JAVA projects. The experimentations show that the Multi paradigm metric is an effective measure for estimating the complexity of the JAVA code/projects, and therefore it can be used for controlling the quality of the projects. We have also evaluated the multi-paradigm metric against the principles of measurement theory.Article Measuring the Reusable Quality for Xml Schema Documents(Budapest Tech, 2013) Thaw, Tinzar; Misra, SanjayeXtensible Markup Language (XML) based web applications are widely used for data describing and providing internet services. The design of XML schema document (XSD) needs to be quantified with software with the reusable nature of XSD. This nature of documents helps software developers to produce software at a lower software development cost. This paper proposes a metric Entropy. Measure of Complexity (EMC), which is intended to measure the reusable quality of XML schema documents. A higher EMC value tends to more reusable quality, and as well, a higher EMC value implies that this schema document contains inheritance feature, elements and attributes. For empirical validation, the metric is applied on 70 WSDL schema files. A comparison with similar measures is also performed. The proposed EMC metric is also validated practically and theoretically. Empirical, theoretical and practical validation and a comparative study proves that the EMC metric is a valid metric and capable of measuring the reusable quality of XSD.Article Citation - WoS: 5An Approach for E-Commerce On-Demand Service-Oriented Product Line Development(Budapest Tech, 2013) Ezenwoke, Azubuike; Misra, Sanjay; Adigun, MathewThe growth of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) is important to the economic development of Africa. This growth can be greatly enhanced by leveraging IT in business activities since e-commerce is a vital tool to allow participation in globalization. Many SMMEs cannot afford to own e-commerce facilities and to reduce cost. An SMME can pay for just the e-commerce facility they use without owning the services or infrastructure. Due to the dynamic nature of the business domain, delivering such on-demand functionalities involves high flexibility in adapting to new client requirements; therefore, a systematic approach to software component reuse must be adopted to reduce cost and the time to market for new products. This work explores the reuse capabilities of a hybridization of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Software Product Line (SPL).Article Citation - WoS: 21Citation - Scopus: 48Customer Relationship Management: Implementation Process Perspective(Budapest Tech, 2009) Mishra, Alok; Mishra, Deepti; Computer Engineering; Software EngineeringCustomer relationship management (CRM) can help organizations manage customer interactions more effectively to maintain competitiveness in the present economy. As more and more organizations realize the significance of becoming customer-centric in today's competitive era, they adopted CRM as a core business strategy and invested heavily. CRM, an integration of information technology and relationship marketing, provides the infrastructure that facilitates long-term relationship building with customers at an enterprise-wide level. Successful CRM implementation is a complex, expensive and rarely technical projects. This paper presents the successful implementation of CRM from process perspective in a trans-national organization with operations in different segments. This study will aid in understanding transition, constraints and the implementation process of CRM in such organizations.Article Citation - WoS: 11Citation - Scopus: 16Improving Baggage Tracking, Security and Customer Services With Rfid in the Airline Industry(Budapest Tech, 2010) Mishra, Deepti; Mishra, Alok; Computer Engineering; Software EngineeringRadio frequency identification (RFID) has been identified as one of the ten greatest contributory technologies of the 21(st) Century. This technology has found a rapidly growing market, and an increasing variety of enterprises are employing RFID to improve the efficiency of their operations and to gain competitive advantage. In the aviation industry, major airports/airlines have been looking for the opportunity to adopt RFID in the area of baggage handling for a long time. Many pilot tests have been done at numerous US., European, and Hong Kong airports. RFID tags were found to be far more accurate than bar codes, and their performance was also measured to be well above that of bar codes. This paper presents the state of RFID adoption planning, architecture and implementation at a major airline, with a special focus on improved services due to improved baggage handling, on increased airport/airline security and on frequent flier program services. This is accomplished by integrating RFID technology together with networking and database technologies.Article Citation - WoS: 27The Dea - Fuzzy Anp Department Ranking Model Applied in Iran Amirkabir University(Budapest Tech, 2010) Rouyendegh, Babak Daneshvar; Erol, SerpilProposed in this study is a hybrid model for supporting the department selection process within Iran Amirkabir University. This research is a two-stage model designed to fully rank the organizational departments where each department has multiple inputs and outputs. First, the department evaluation problem is formulated by Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and separately formulates each pair of units. In the second stage, the pair-wise evaluation matrix generated in the first stage is utilized to fully rank-scale the units via the Fuzzy Analytical Network Process (FANP). The FANP method adopted here uses triangular fuzzy numbers. ANP equipped with fuzzy logic helps in overcoming the impreciseness in the preferences. DEA-FANP ranking does not replace the DEA classification model; rather, it furthers the analysis by providing full ranking in the DEA context for all departments, efficient and inefficient.Article Citation - WoS: 21Citation - Scopus: 34An Artificial Neural Network Model for Road Accident Prediction: a Case Study of a Developing Country(Budapest Tech, 2014) Ogwueleka, Francisca Nonyelum; Misra, Sanjay; Ogwueleka, Toochukwu Chibueze; Fernandez-Sanz, L.; Computer EngineeringRoad traffic accidents (RTA) are one of the major root causes of the unnatural loses of human beings all over the world. Although the rates of RTAs are decreasing in most developed countries, this is not the case in developing countries. The increase in the number of vehicles and inefficient drivers on the road, as well as to the poor conditions and maintenance of the roads, are responsible for this crisis in developing countries. In this paper, we produce a design of an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model for the analysis and prediction of accident rates in a developing country. We apply the most recent (1998 to 2010) data to our model. In the design, the number of vehicles, accidents, and population were selected and used as model parameters. The sigmoid and linear functions were used as activation functions with the feed forward-back propagation algorithm. The performance evaluation of the model signified that the ANN model is better than other statistical methods in use.Article Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 5Applying Model-Driven Paradigm for the Improvement of Web Requirement Validation(Budapest Tech, 2012) Aragon, Gustavo; Escalona, M. J.; Hilera, Jose R.; Fernandez-Sanz, Luis; Misra, Sanjay; Computer EngineeringThis paper proposes an approach for Web requirements validation by applying the model-driven paradigm in classical requirements validation techniques. In particular, we present how the Navigational Development Techniques (NDT) approach exploits the model-driven paradigm to improve its requirements validation task by exploring tool cases that systematize or even automate the application of requirements validation techniques. Our solution is validated by applying it in a real industrial environment. The results and the learned lessons are presented accordingly.
