Çocuk Filmlerinin Türkçe Çevirilerinde Bir Yabancılaştırma ve Yerlileştirme Teknikleri Analizi

Abstract

Yabancı dillerden çevrilmiş çocuk edebiyatı eserleri bazen diğer kültürlerde olmayan 'kültüre özel öğeler' barındırırlar. Bu öğeler çeviri sorunlarına yol açabilecekleri gibi, kültürlerdeki farklılıklar yüzünden çocuklar için zararlı da olabilirler. Bu durum, çevirmene bir seçenek sunar; çevirmen, yabancı kültürel öğelerin çevirisinde yabancılaştırma ya da yerelleştirme stratejileri kullanabilir. Bu çalışma Türk kültüründe görsel-işitsel çocuk edebiyatı çevirisinde yabancılaştırma ve yerelleştirme stratejilerinden hangisinin daha sık kullanıldığnı bulmayı amaçlar. Bu amaç doğrultusunda bu çalışma için İngilizceden Türkçeye çevirilmiş üç çocuk filmi seçilmiştir. Seçilen filmler Brasienė'nin 'kültüre özel öğeler sınıflandırma sistemi' kullanılarak taranmıştır. Filmlerde karşılaşılan bütün kültüre özel öğeler Davies'in 'kültüre özel öğe çeviri stratejileri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak üç filmin çevirisinde de yerelleştirme stratejilerinin yabancılaştırma stratejilerine göre daha sık kullanıldığı tespit edilmiştir.Children's literature translated from foreign languages carry culture specific items (CSI) which do not exist in other cultures. As these items commonly cause translation problems, they can also be potentially harmful to children because of the differences between cultures. This leaves the translator with a choice; whether to use foreignization or domestication strategies to deal with the foreign CSI. The purpose of this study is to find whether foreignization strategies or domestication strategies are used more frequently during the translation of audiovisual children's literature in the Turkish culture. For this purpose, three children's movies translated from English into Turkish have been selected. The movies were analyzed for any CSI they contained using Brasienė's categorization of CSI. Each CSI located in the movies have been reanalyzed using Davies's CSI translation strategies. As a result, it has been revealed that during the translations of all three movies, domestication strategies were used more frequently than foreignization strategies.
