Sürdürülebilir turizm: Elazığ üzerine bir uygulama

Abstract

Sürdürülebilir turizm; tabii ve toplumsal kaynakları, kültürel varlıkları uzun süreçlerde koruyarak gelecek nesillere aktarılmasını sağlayarak ev sahibi bölgenin yaşam kalitesinin artmasını ve turistlere de kaliteli deneyimler sunmayı amaçlayan bir yaklaşım şeklidir. Sürdürülebilir turizmin hedefleri tamamıyla doğayı, toplumu, sosyal hayatı korumak ve ekonomik açıdan katkı sağlamaktır. Türkiye'nin Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi'nde yer alan, yüzölçümü, 9.313 km²'dir olan, ılıman iklim koşullarına sahip Elazığ, ise sürdürülebilir turizmin başarı ile uygulanabileceği illerden biridir. Elazığ'ın, türkülere ve hikâyelere konu olan köklü bir tarihi geçmişe ve doğal güzelliklere sahip olmasının yanı sıra, verimli toprakları sayesinde tarih boyunca farklı uygarlıklara ev sahipliği yapmış bir kent olarak hem farklı kültürlerin izlerini taşımakta hem de bu kültürlerden miras kalan yeme-içme alışkanlıklarının etkisini sofra kültüründe hissettirmektedir. Bu çalışma, Elazığ'da ikamet eden, farklı gruptan bireylere anket uygulayarak, Elazığ'da sürdürülebilir turizmin mevcut durumunu tespit etmek ve elde edilen sonuçlara göre, sürdürülebilir turizmin nasıl geliştirilebileceğini belirlemeyi amaçlamıştır. Toplam 520 bireye anket uygulanmıştır ve anket uygulanan gruplar, Elazığ yerel halkı, akademisyenler, esnaf, turizm sektörü olarak tanımlanmıştır. Uygulanan ankete ait bilgiler SPSS 22.0 istatistik programıyla analiz edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, var olan kaynakların kullanımında, ilgili kurumların koordineli çalışmasında eksiklerin bulunduğu ve Elazığ'ın cazibe faktörlerinin öne çıkarılarak turizm çeşitliliğinin arttırılması ve gerekli yatırımların yapılması gerektiği belirlenmiştir.

Sustainable tourism is an approach which protects natural and societal sources as well as cultural inheritance in long term and which conveys these entities to the next generation so that it improves the life quality of the host region and it provides experiences of high quality to the tourists. The aim of the sustainable tourism is mainly focused on protecting nature, society, social life, and on economic contribution. Elazığ is one of the cities that is placed in the East Anatolian Region of Turkey with a surface area of 9312 km² and temperate climate and is a good candidate for exercising the sustainable tourism. Elazığ does not only have a ancient history that was depicted in many fables and ballads or have a beautiful nature, but also has laoms that hosted different civilizations throughout the history, the proof of which reveals itself in its local culture as well as cuisine that was inherited from those civilizations This study aimed to find out the current condition of sustainable tourism in Elazığ and how to improve it depending on the results coming from the survey that was applied to people who reside in Elazığ. 520 people in total participated in the survey and participants were categorized as Elazig local people, academicians, tradesmen, tourism sector. Survey results were analyzed by SPSS 22.0 software. The study reveals that there are points to be improved in the coordination and interaction of tourism-related organizations with one another, that Elazig's unique and attractive attributes should be prioritized and that neccessary investments should be made to improve the sustainable tourism in Elazig.
