The Department of Public Relations and Advertising started its 4-year undergraduate degree program in 2000 under the School of Business. The Department of Public Relations and Advertising offers a program that stresses the skill of analytical thinking for students. The program is based on academic standpoints and supported by practices and new technologies. The department offers the opportunity to take elective courses from its own curriculum, or from other departments, in addition to theoretical and practical courses that complement each other. With a program offered in English, the Department of Public Relations and Advertising has mutual contracts with universities from Spain, the Netherlands and Finland within the scope of the “Erasmus Exchange Program”. In addition, the graduate degree program of “Public Relations and Advertising” under the Graduate School of social Sciences aims to sustain the continuity of undergraduate-level education and training, and to meet the demands of those pursuing to advance academically.

Abstract

Kültürün güç mesafesi boyutu ile siyasi yeterlik (içsel ve dışsal) arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemek bu çalışmanın amacını teşkil etmektedir. Ayrıca bu ilişkinin incelenmesinde kişilik ara değişkeni söz konusudur. Atılım Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü kapsamındaki yüksek lisans öğrencileri üzerinde araştırma kapsamında anket uygulanmıştır. Korelasyon ve regresyon analizi yöntemlerinden faydalanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda güç mesafesi ile özellikle dışsal siyasi yeterlik arasında bir ilişkinin var olduğu bulunmuş, ancak bu ilişkinin yönü beklentinin tersine negatif çıkmıştır. The purpose of this research is to investigate the possible relationship between power distance dimension of culture and political efficacy (internal and external). Questionnaire in the context of this research was applied to master's students in Atilim University School of Social Sciences. This relationship is investigated via personality as mediator variable. Correlation analysis and regression analysis were utilized in this research. In conclusion, there has been found a relationship between especially power distance and external political efficacy. However, as opposed to the expected results, it is found that the direction of the relationship is negative rather than positive. Finally, there has been no mediator influence of personality and, in particular, conscientiousness variable. Keywords Power Distance, Political Efficacy, Personality, Culture
