Modernleşme Sürecinde Türkiye`nin Kimlik Problemleri

Abstract

Türkiye'nin 150 yıllık modernleşme sürecinde yaşadığı kimlik problemlerini anlayabilmek ve bu problemlere çözüm önerisi geliştirebilmek için Türk modernleşme projesini ciddi ve akademik bir analiz içinde çok iyi irdelemek gerekmektedir. Bu doğrultuda da bu tezde, Türk kimliğinin oluşumu ve bu süreçte Avrupa kimliğinin rolü, Türk kimliği ile Avrupa kimliğinin karşılıklı konumları dikkate alınarak incelenmektedir. Bu amaçla, Türk kimliği ve Avrupa kimliğinin incelenmesinin temelini oluşturacağı düşüncesiyle ilk olarak kimlik unsurları üzerinde durulmaktadır. Bu şekilde konunun kavramsal arka planının oluşturulmasından sonra Avrupa ve Türk kimliklerinin tarihsel gelişim süreçleri içinde nasıl oluştukları ele alınmakta ve birbirlerinin kimlik oluşumlarında nasıl etkili oldukları ortaya konmaya çalışılmaktadır. Buna ek olarak, Türkiye'nin Batılılaşma ve modernleşme sürecinde oluşan sosyo-politik ve kültürel kimlikleri, kimliksel parçalanmaları ve kutuplaşmaları ele alınmaktadır. Bu tanım ve analizler ışığında tez, olası çözüm önerisiyle sonuçlanmaktadır.

In order to understand the identity problems that Turkey has faced throughout the modernisation period for the last two centuries, it is essential that Turkish modernisation project be analysed within a serious and analytical framework. For this reason, the formation of Turkish identity and the role that European identity played in this formation and their mutual positions are considered. With the intention of targetting this, in the first place components of identity are focused; in that it forms the basis of the analysis of Turkish and European identity in the study. After forming the definitial background of the topic, how Turkish and European identities were formed in a historical process are studied and how they affected each other is revealed. In addition to this, Turkish socio-political and cultural identities, having been emerged in the modernisation period, identity problems and polarizarion of identities are studied. In the light of these definitions and analyses, the thesis ends with a possible suggestion.
