It enables the fabrication of living cellular constructs with complex architectures that are suitable for various biomedical applications, such as tissue engineering, disease modeling, drug screening, and precision regenerative medicine. The ultimate goal of bioprinting is to produce stable, anatomically-shaped, human-scale functional organs or tissue substitutes that can be implanted. Although various bioprinting techniques have emerged to develop customized tissue-engineering substitutes over the past decade, several challenges remain in fabricating volumetric tissue constructs with complex shapes and sizes and translating the printed products into clinical practice. Thus, it is crucial to develop a successful strategy for translating research outputs into clinical practice to address the current organ and tissue crises and improve patients' quality of life. This review article discusses the challenges of the existing bioprinting processes in preparing clinically relevant tissue substitutes. It further reviews various strategies and technical feasibility to overcome the challenges that limit the fabrication of volumetric biological constructs and their translational implications. Additionally, the article highlights exciting technological advances in the 3D bioprinting of anatomically shaped tissue substitutes and suggests future research and development directions. Son 20 yılda kanser biyolojisi ve patogenezi hakkındaki bilgiler artmış, immün kontrol noktası inhibitörleri (İKNİ) kullanımasunulmuş ve böylece solid kanserlerin tedavisinde önemli bir dönem başlamıştır. Bu derlemede; tedavide yenilikler, immünoterapi ve tedavide multidisipliner yaklaşım çerçevesinde akciğer kanseri ele alınmıştır. Küçük hücreli dışıakciğer kanseri (KHDAK) en sık görülen ve özellikleri nedeniyle İKNİ tedavisinden ideal olarak yararlanabilecek akciğer kanseri türü olması nedeniyleyazının odak noktasını oluşturmuştur. Bu derleme, akciğer kanseri tedavisindeimmünoterapi yaklaşımının göğüs hastalıkları başta olmak üzere tüm branşlarda multidisipliner farkındalığını artırmayı ve yönetimi hakkında bilgi sağlamayıamaçlayan ilk Türkçe derlemedir. Ayrıca bu derleme, KHDAK tedavisinde İKNİkullanımına ilişkin son klinik çalışmaların dikkat çekici sonuçlarını sunmasıaçısından önem teşkil etmektedir. Here, in this review, we first investigate aptamer function in various fields (such as the detection and remedy of pathogens, modification of nanoparticles, antibiotic delivery and gene delivery). Then, we present aptamer-conjugated nanocomplexes as the main and efficient factor in gene delivery. The relative lack of facilities, skills, funds and information on existing e-Health initiatives has affected progress on e-Health in Africa. Objectives: To review publicly available literature on e-Health in sub-Saharan Africa (sSA) towards providing information on existing and ongoing e-Health initiatives in the region. Methods: Searches of relevant literature were conducted on Medline, EMBASE and Global Health, with search dates set from 1990 to 2016. We included studies on e-Health initiatives (prototypes, designs, or completed projects) targeting population groups in sSA. Results: Our search returned 2322 hits, with 26 studies retained. Included studies were conducted in 14 countries across the four sub-regions in sSA (Central, East, South and West) and spreading over a 12-year period, 2002-2014. Six types of e-Health interventions were reported, with 17 studies (65%) based on telemedicine, followed by mHealth with 5 studies (19%). Other e-Health types include expert system, electronic medical records, e-mails, and online health module. Specific medical specialties covered include dermatology (19%), pathology (12%) and radiology (8%). Successes were 'widely reported' (representing 50% overall acceptance or positive feedbacks in a study) in 10 studies (38%). The prominent challenges reported were technical problems, poor inter net and connectivity, participants' selection biases, contextual issues, and lack of funds. Conclusion: E-Health is evolving in sSA, but with poorly published evidence. Polymers are used in many biomedical applications; such as implants, because of their variable bulk properties. On the other hand, their surface properties are inadequate which demands certain surface treatments including atmospheric pressure plasma treatment. In biomedical applications, surface treatment is important to promote good cell adhesion, proliferation, and growth. Here, we review the recent developments in the application of 3D bioprinting to dental tissue engineering. These tissues, including teeth, periodontal ligament, alveolar bones, and dental pulp, present cell types and mechanical properties with great heterogeneity, which is challenging to reproduce in vitro. After highlighting the different bioprinting methods used in regenerative dentistry, we reviewed the great variety of bioink formulations and their effects on cells, which have been established to support the development of these tissues. We discussed the different advances achieved in the fabrication of each dental tissue to provide an overview of the current state of the methods. Punith and J. Seetharamappa (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.saa.201202.038) presents the interaction between serum albumin from human (HAS) and from bovine (BSA) with a drug called Anastrozole (AZ). The drug is on the market for treating patients with breast cancer after surgery and for metastasis in women. The study utilizes various spectroscopic techniques such as; fluorescence, synchronous fluorescence, 3D fluorescence measurements, FTIR, CD and UV. Although there are some relatively minor comments on the paper, the main point that needs to be reviewed by the authors is the result of FTIR measurements. Based on the data provided in the text (there is no figure), the protein sample is not in its native state, which makes the data inconvenient to be used in drawing conclusions. A gene delivery system is considered a powerful tool for the release of genetic material within cells resulting in a change in cell functions and protein production. The release of genes in a controlled manner by using appropriate carriers facilitates their release without side effects and increases the expression of genes at the released site. It is expected that significant changes in the combination of several genes and drugs can be provided by developing treatment systems sensitive to different stimuli such as redox potential, pH variations, temperature gradients, light irradiation, and enzyme activity. The most important advantages for the release of genes and stimuli-responsive therapeutics include delivering vectors locally, reducing side effects and causing no toxicity to distant tissues while at the same time reducing the immune response to the vectors. Moreover, numerous challenges are associated with long-term postoperative management. Thus, when dealing with childhood glaucoma, it is important to consider the potential complications in addition to the benefits of each intervention. The purpose of this article is to review recently published literature to shed light on the most recent surgical techniques for the safe and effective treatment of childhood glaucoma. Current literature shows that goniotomy and trabeculotomy are the first choices for the management of primary congenital glaucoma. Although older children with phakic eyes seem to benefit from trabeculectomy with adjunctive mitomycin C, it carries a long-term risk of bleb-related endophthalmitis. Glaucoma drainage devices may be preferred for patients with secondary or refractory glaucoma. However, hypotony or tube-related complications are common and encountered more often in children than in adults. Cyclodestructive procedures are also an option for cases in which filtering surgery has failed, but they can also be used as a temporizing measure to reduce the rate of complications in high-risk patients. However, their outcomes can be unpredictable, in terms of efficiency and complications. These structures are crucial biomarkers in healthcare and medical research for the early detection of cancer and other disorders, enabling treatment to commence before the onset of clinical symptoms and enhancing the efficacy of treatments. As the size of these biomarkers to be detected decreases and their numbers in body fluids diminishes, the detection materials, ranging from visual inspection to advanced microscopy techniques, begin to become smaller, more sensitive, faster, and more effective, thanks to developing nanotechnology. This review first defines the circulating cells and subcellular bio-particles with their biological, physical, and mechanical properties and second focuses on their diagnostic importance, including their most recent applications as biomarkers, the biosensors that are utilized to detect them, the present obstacles that must be surmounted, and prospective developments in the domain. As technology advances and biomolecular pathways are deepens, diagnostic tests will become more sensitive, specific, and thorough. Methods Patients with PsA who met the CASPAR classification criteria were enrolled consequently in this cohort. Turkish League Against Rheumatism (TLAR)-Network was formed with the participation of 25 centres. The demographic variables, fatigue, diagnostic delay, the beginning of peripheral arthritis, enthesitis, dactylitis and spine involvement, inflammatory low back pain, BASFI, HAQ, HAQ-s, visual analogue scale-pain (VAS-pain), anxiety, depression and disease activity parameters (ESR, DAS28, BASDAI) were recorded. Axial involvement was assessed according to clinical and radiological data according to modified New York (MNYC) or Assessment of SpondyloArthritis international Society (ASAS) criteria. Results A total of 1018 patients with PsA were included in this study. Of the 373 patients with axial involvement, 150 were male (40.2%) and 223 (59.8%) were female. Spondylitis was detected in 14,7% of men and 21,9% of women in all patients. Pain score (VAS) (p < .002), fatigue (p < .001), ESR (p < .001), DAS28 (p < .001), BASDAI score (p < .001), PsAQoL (p < .001), HAQ score (p < ,01), HAQ-S score (p < .001), anxiety (p < .001), depression (p < .024), FACIT (p < .001) and FiRST (p < .001) scores were statistically significantly worse in women than males with axial PsA. However, quality of life was better (p < .001) and PASI score (p < .005) were statistically worse in male patients than in female patients with axial involvement. Conclusion This study has shown that the burden of disease in axial PsA has significant difference between genders. Disease activity, physical disability, functional limitation, depression and anxiety scores were higher in female patients, while quality of life were better and PASI score were higher in male patients. The impact of small noncavity-distorting intramural fibroids on reproductive outcomes in IVF is still controversial, with conflicting results.Objective(s): To determine whether women with noncavity-distorting intramural fibroids of & LE;6 cm size have lower live birth rates (LBRs) in IVF than female age-matched controls with no fibroids.Data Sources: MEDLINE, Embase, Global Health, and Cochrane Library databases were searched from inception until July 1, 2022. Study Selection and Synthesis: Women undergoing IVF with noncavity-distorting intramural fibroids & LE;6 cm constituted the study group (n = 520), whereas women with no fibroid formed the controls (n = 1392). Female age-matched subgroup analyses were performed to evaluate the impact of different cut-offs for size (& LE;6, & LE;4, and & LE;2 cm), location (the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics [FIGO] type-3), and the number of fibroids on reproductive outcomes. Mantel-Haenszel odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used for outcome measures. All statistical analyses were performed using RevMan 5.4.1Main Outcome Measure(s): The primary outcome measure was LBR. Secondary outcome measures were clinical pregnancy, implan-tation, and miscarriage rates.Result(s): After adopting the eligibility criteria, 5 studies were included in the final analysis. Women with & LE;6 cm noncavity-distorting intramural fibroids had significantly lower LBRs (OR: 0.48, 95% CI: 0.36-0.65, 3 studies, I2=0; low-certainty evidence) compared with women with no fibroids. A significant reduction in LBRs was noted in & LE;4 cm but not in the & LE;2 cm subgroups. The FIGO type-3 fibroids of 2-6 cm size were associated with significantly lower LBRs. Owing to a lack of studies, the impact of the number of noncavity-distorting intramural fibroids (single vs. multiple) on IVF outcomes could not be assessed.Conclusion(s): We conclude that 2-6 cm sized noncavity-distorting intramural fibroids have a deleterious effect on LBRs in IVF. The presence of FIGO type-3 fibroids of 2-6 cm size is associated with significantly lower LBRs. Conclusive evidence from high-quality randomized controlled trials, the reference standard study design for studies of health care interventions, is needed before myomectomy might be offered in daily clinical practice to women with such small fibroids before undergoing IVF treatment.
